Diner Reviews
  • "The restaurant was tired and outdated. It was in need of a renovation. The wait staff was nice but not very attentive I had to ask for water several times. I would not go back."

  • "We were unfortunate enough to be seated next to a gentleman and his son whose salad order was incorrect. The man and his son came in 15 minutes after us. There was a lobster and steak special that our table of four and the man and his son ordered. After the issue with his food, two of the specials were brought out for him and his son. My table waited another 25 minutes. Our waiter had vanished. We were being ignored. When I motioned to another waitress, she nodded as she walked by them went outside the restaurant to avoid walking by our table. When our food arrived, two plates were hot, two plates were cold. It was obvious they took our food and gave it to the problem table. Not recommended."

  • "Always consistent. Chris was our waiter and Gabriel also attended to us. The were both very attentive and polite."

  • "Food took almost at hour, and waiter never came by to let us know, explain, but finally apologized because the manager insisted he do so. Manager offered to credit one of the four meals. He credited not the $17-20 ones, but the $8 kids' meal. I will not go back."

  • "We've been to The Timbers several times in the past few years, and the food and service have always been great and the prices are reasonable. Great job!"

  • "We were a party of 9. The waiter had to be asked three time, with no result, for a fork. I finaly had to ask the manager that was walking by for silverware that NON of had at the time of sitting at the table. Two persons in the party came a little late and we had to ask two times for someone to take their order and when they did they only took one order then walked off. One of us had to get up and get the waiter back so we could have him take the last order. But with all of that being said. The food was great. The people nice. The resturant was clean. I might go back again. But there are other places I would go back to first."

  • "The Timbers is a wonderful restaurant! Eat there!!"

  • "Lamb was extremely over cooked. Asked for Medium/Rare. Halibut was dry. Both sirloin steaks that came with the steak/lobster special were chewy lacking flavor. Other than those disappointments, the food was good. "

  • "Just a great place to enjoy a wonderful dinner a fair price. A definite place to go to while being in the Lake Tahoe are."

  • "The steak and lobster special for $17.99 is very satiating and great deal."

  • "My husband and I enjoyed the Steak and Lobster Special for $17.99 each. This included a loaded baked potato and a soup or salad plus wonderful warm cheddar biscuits and sourdough? bread with a dipping dish of olive oil, balsamic vinegar, grated parmesan, and then butter. So good. We had the butternut squash soup (yum) and garden salad and shared. The Lobster dipped in butter was great. The steak was good also. We liked the sweet carrots that accompanied the dish, plus fresh steamed broccoli. You can view the mountains and trees in the distance, so it was quite nice. The only drawback to eating there is having to walk through the casino through the cigarette smoke since I am very sensitive, but it was worth it."

  • "Ordered the Steak and Lobster, now $3 more than the last time. However, at $17.99 with a salad, baked potato and vegetable plus bread, it still is a good value in a resort area. Chris, our waiter, gave us great service. In addition, he cracked the kind of jokes that made us laugh. Almost everyone in the place orders the steak and lobster. If someone in your group does not eat lobster, trade your steak for their lobster."

  • "Twas a quiet Spring evening and there weren't many people in the place. A little hesitant service and a switch of servers later, we had the surf & turf special, $17.99. Not bad but about what you'd expect for a special. Things were nice enough once the service got on track but the atmosphere was just so dead it took away from the relatively attractive decor. And, oh yeah, you're right off the casino floor so sit toward the back unless you like your air nicotine-flavored."

  • "We really like coming here to eat and play a few of the table games afterwards. The only thing that was a bit off was the lobster. It did not have the nice firm texture it seemed a bit over cooked. All in all this is a great place with great prices."

  • "3 of us went to the Timbers to have the Steak and Lobster special. The food was excellent and the service the same. The new renovation has left the restaurant a little sterile, but the service made up for it. I would definitely go back again."

  • "If it had not been for the 35 minute wait to get our bill, I might have been able to recommend this restaurant. After taking our order and receiving our food, we were left on our own. Food presentation was colorful, but my halibut dish was a bit busy-too many flavors."

  • "This was the finest dining experience I've had in a long while. The service could not have been better and the food was excellent. Be sure to ask what their specials are. I had the $14. 99 Steak and Lobster thinking it would be a small portion. It was not and the meal very filling. I highly recommend The Timbers."

  • "The evening started out with the pleasant surprise that we didn't have to put our name in at the restaurant, and wait for a table. We could make the reservation at home on-line and leisurely head down, have a drink and walk right in. We had heard from friends the steak and lobster dinner was a very good value, and they were right. Salad was good, wine was reasonably priced, lobster and steak very tasty and cooked as requested, baked potato with the works and carrots were good. Bread was attacked with a dull knife and seriously squished, and that was our only negative. Butter dish with dipping vinegar and shredded parmesan nice touch. Dinner ($15 each) for two with wine ($18) and tip ran us $61. We would recommend it."

  • "Went to Lakeside to try their Steak and Lobster special. The food was very good and the service was excellent. It did get quite crowded after 7PM, but we were well taken care of. I would definitely go back there again"

  • "We reserved a table for two couples on valentines day based on a deal that was offered. We arrived on time at 8pm, and found that our table had been given to someone else so we had to stand in the middle of the restaurant and wait for them to clean another table to seat us. The smoke from the casino was strong and prevalent, but not overwhelming. I asked to order the valentines meal and was told that it was sold out, and we couldn't substitute anything else for it, so we were just out of luck. I was disappointed, but we decided to marshal on. After ordering we had to wait almost an hour to get our meals - and the restaurant was only about half full. Although the food was good, the service was extremely poor. I will not return."

  • "The Steak and Lobster was a fantastic deal and really good! It did however take 15 minutes for anyone to acknowledge us once we were sat. My wife actually went to the bar in the casino to get drinks and came back before the server ever came to the table. This is a casual dining spot in a casino where locals frequent. The restaurant is located right off the main casino floor therefore you will experience the smell of smoke and the sounds of the casino during your dining experience."

  • "Our waiter seemed like he was doing us a favor. Drinks never got refilled was rude when asking for something "not my problem" kind of attitude. Food was good. Our money spends the same anywhere and to be treated like that was rediculous. It was two people in our parties birthdays and we were singing happy birthday so it was obvious, he never offered desert or anything. We left feeling kind of offended. Not good way to start off our night out. We were referred to you The Timbers by many people. What a disappointment."

  • "The noise level with all the hard surfaces is way too loud, its difficult to talk with each other. Its a very cold decor. The old lodge feel was much more appropriate for the setting. We definitely miss the Keno while dining, it was entertaining, and I'm sure you are missing revenue."

  • "My husband and I were on a ski trip to South Lake Tahoe. Someone highly recommended this restaurant for its prime rib. However, we opted for their steak and lobster special (only $14.99) after we saw it being served at the table next to ours. The dinner was excellent as were the cocktails that we ordered. Our server was also very attentive, efficient and friendly. The restaurant is not "fancy" and you do get a faint hint of cigarette smoke from the casino across the hall."

  • "We had the steak and lobster special for $14.99 and it was a great meal. The normal menu prices are a little high but the lobster and early bird specials are inexpensive and really good. After dinner go play a tournament in the Poker Room. It makes for a fun night."

  • "Food quality was not the best, but a couple of people in our party enjoyed the $15 steak and lobster special. The quinoa lemon salad was terrible and so tart I could hardly eat it. The waiter was very nice but overall the food quality was not what we were hoping for."

  • "We were in town for Christmas & wanted a low-key spot for dinner. This restaurant, inside a casino, fit the bill . Because it's in Nevada, they still allow smoking in the casino....please Nevada, get a CLUE! Walking through that cloud of smoke was the only really negative part of the experience. Our waiter was charming and spot-on with his service! He recommended the surf and turf, which is a special and was very well prepared! The salad was fresh and, with the dressing on the side, was just as each of us like our salads. The steaks were done exactly as ordered and the lobster tail was good. The hot food arrived hot and the vegetables were nicely crisp. It's a nice spot for dinner and we'll go again next time we're in Tahoe."

  • "I had the steak and lobster special for $15. It was about what I expected for the price. My daughter ordered a rancher's choice steak and it was very thick and juicy. Overall, a good meal but you get what you pay for."

  • "we did online reservation for dinner at lakeside inn and actually arrived a bit early expecting to wait. We were seated immediately in a quiet section, in a booth instead of the open seating area (a bonus of making a reservation). All in all the reservation process was very easy and I will be sure to use it again.. The restaurant had the information right away and I even was emailed a confirmation."

  • "This restaurant is inside a casino. You have to walk through the smoke to get seated. The sourdough bread was the highlight of the meal. The filet was good but the fish was not. They only had 4 of the 8 fish selections on the menu. The place feels old and looks worn. We will not go back when there are so many better choices in the area. Our expectations were higher based on other reviews."

  • "We went for the Steak and Lobster Special. They cooked the steaks as requested, the lobster was sweet and tender and it was a good restaurant baked potato. The salads were just okay, with much too much dressing. Order dressing on the side. We shared a humongous dessert of mud pie, which was quite refreshing."

  • "Can't really say anything about the food because we left after being ignored for 10 minutes after being seated. Their prices are way too high to put up with such service."

  • "we had two of the steak/lobster meal discounts and i wasnt expecting much. We were very pleasantly surprised thougj. My girl friend doesnt do seafood so they let her put the $15 value towards prime rib which she said was excellent. I had the steak and lobster and thought it was quite good well we would eat here again."
