A word from The Tilghman Island Inn
Tilghman Island Inn A Feast for the Senses in a Magical Setting.Dining. Ah, dining. Where do we begin? The usual descriptors just seem to ring hollow when applied to the dining experience here at the Tilghman Island Inn. The physical location of the Inn, in addition to being so visually enchanting, is also the source of its culinary distinction, the palette on which our chefs create a medley of both traditional and innovative dishes. Seafood fresh from the water's edge and produce from surrounding farmlands are the basis for a menu whose style and sophistication evolves subtly as the seasons change. For us to proclaim the excellence of our cuisine, of course, is easy. On the other hand, earning Wine Spectator's prestigious Award of Excellence since 1996 is not.

Without a doubt, this is our favorite restaurant in St. Michael's. It has a distinctive ambience, with a mixture of traditional and trendy in the decor, the kind of watery view we like best, and our favorite kind of food, with innovative touches gracing the Eastern shore dishes. We are planning another visit when we are in St. Michael's in December.

I do not visit the Eastern Shore often, but I make plans for dinner here every time. The menu is limited but diverse and always includes fish and shellfish, of course, but the entrees for landlubbers are exceptional as well. The atmosphere is refined but relaxed; leave the sport coat behind.

Friends asked us to join for restaurant week, said they hadn't been in ages, had a bad expeerience years ago but wanted to try it again. Happy to join despite a long drive. Thought we'd made a mistake b/c we were not given restaurant week menus when we were seated. Turns out you have to ask??? Among 4 of us, we tried all three choices for 3 courses. For appies: pea cakes & salad were good, mussles were best with chorizo & flavorful broth. For entres: salmon was overcooked & portion was TEENIE, it's a good thing the risotto was tasty & plentiful! Veggie lasgana & beef bourg w/noodles were ordinary. Dessert was best: key lime tart, creme brulee, and fudgy chocolate ice cream. Good wine choices/prices. Our server was surly; we felt unwanted.

We love this place, the food, wine, service and atmosphere are always superb. The wine dinners are among the best, the menus and wines are perfectly matched and we go for both. It's one of our all-time favorite restaurants anywhere. A menu staple, the black-eyed pea cakes are just one of several unusual and delicious treats the restaurant offers. This is a can't-miss when visiting the Shore and well worth any drive.

We went to the Tilghman Island Inn for New Year's Eve and the ambiance, cuisine, music and celebration combined into a magical evening. Can't say enough about the menu -- six fabulous courses...each spaced with enough time to savor while enjoying the wine and company. The wait staff are observant yet not obtrusive....after dinner, we enjoyed a three piece jazz band while chatting at the bar -- kudos to the bartender who can mix what you can imagine....all in all, a super evening!

I loved how cozy the place is. We were not guests at the Inn but they allowed us to sit at the deck and wait for Brunch to start. The servers were very friendly and attentive. The food was amazingly well made and delicious. Great for Spring, Summer and End of Sep. Brunch is served on the deck and it can get breezy. Brunch starts at noon.

The food was excellent!! My husband and I both had the tasting menu and found it to be fresh and inventive. The Tilghman Island Inn made a great hire in this chef!! The dining room is light-filled and we saw the sunset over the bay. It took a while for us to be seated. This was very strange as the restaurant was by no means busy. On a side note, I think The Tilghman Island Inn itself could use an overhaul and some TLC. The property looks a bit dated and is starting to show its age. This, however, would not deter me from recommending the restaurant at this time.

We took Mom out for mother's day brunch and the food was unique, fresh and delicious! The outdoor patio dining surrounded by the water and birds was peaceful. The only negative to the experience was there was not enough service staff to attend to the tables. The restaurant had only one person waiting the outside tables and while she did her best, it was just too much to manage alone.

Our waitress was very helpful and the food was expertly prepared and well presented, steak cooked as requested, with very generous portions. We enjoyed our New Year's Eve 4 course dinner very much. Food was delicious, especially the lobster bisque. Very pretty old inn. Only drawback was the extra $40 pp for after-dinner music & champagne at midnight, which we felt was excessive. Most of the food was truly excellent. The exception was the shrimp and soba noodle appetizer which was so salty it was inedible. It was surprising to see it left on the tab after the owner was informed of the issue when he stopped by the table. He wasn't pleased with our response that all was not perfect. Why bother asking how the meal is if you are not willing to do anything about it? Will probably go back, but not until we investigate some of the other area options.

We kayaked in the morning, golfed in the afternoon - and if you do the same around St Micheal's, we recommend rounding out your evening at Tilghman Island Inn. A lovely tasters menu for me, parallel highlights for my wife, a lovely bottle of "Duck Duck Goose" with dinner (It's Australian - just try it.) and an inexplicable silent firework show the size of an i-phone screen (across the bay) in our corner window table made it an evening to remember. Oh - and a few locals and Inn guests finished the night belting out pseudo karaoke show-tune sing-alongs with the piano player in the lounge after dessert. Unexpected - but how can you not like it?

Very unusual experience. Arrived at our reservation time and was told that they were "a bit full right now". We opted for a drink and waited 20 minutes and then were shown into a nearly empty dining room. A very nice dinner, bottle of wine (partially spilled on me by the owner) and a perfect sunset. The food was very good, but the rest of the experience leads me to not recommend. Sorry.
