Diner Reviews
  • "Great food, excellent view, ok service, little pricey. One of my Napa favorites. "

  • "I enjoy my lunch experience this past weekemd before wine tour. We came baxk for dinner. The food, seevice, atmosphere and food selction was wonderful."

  • "Great Saturday Brunch - Note: It can get hot in the sun. Where a hat."

  • "My wife and I came here for our anniversary dinner and we really had a good time. I was hoping to get a seat on the roof, but it was not open, probably because it was not busy. However, our experience was really good otherwise. We had an appetizer and drinks before our main course. While I don't consider myself a foodie, I did really enjoy all the food. The dessert was especially awesome, I can't remember the name, but it was sugar donuts with strawberry dipping sauce. Along with a cappuccino it was an excellent end to a great meal."

  • "I highly recommend brunching here when the weather nice in Napa. Great spot"

  • "Fabulous. Unbelievably great food and service. Portions are large, the drinks kept coming. Amazing choice to come here for my anniversary celebration! We will be coming back!!"
    Dined on 4/12/2014
  • "This is a second visit and I have to acknowledge the hosting team. We kept throwing changes at them (I know, bad diner!) and they handle them like pros. I never felt unwelcome even if I was making life difficult. They even were able to seat us on the third floor outside patio. The view from the patio is a great thing to share with guests new to Napa. The food was terrific. Very fresh and tasty. Even with the high demand for tables on the patio, we never felt rushed and were well taken care of."

  • "Food was underwhelming but ambience quite good. Service was adequate but not great. Best feature is likely the rooftop bar and seating area but unfortunately was not open the night we were there. Bar scene on the first level was full and fun."

  • "We had brunch at The Thomas at Fagiani's a couple of days ago. We were seated at the bar on the top floor in the outdoor dining area. The weather was fabulous and the views of the Napa hills so romantic. The service was over the top; the food was delicious; the drinks could not have been better; and the bartender - Geoff - the best. We started with their house-made doughnuts with drinks - a pisco sour and a house-made bloody mary. Hubby had tea-smoked salmon and I had the house burger. Unbelievably tasty. A good spot for locals like us and for those who want to really experience Napa. This is the real deal - don't miss it."

  • "very nice dinner on the second floor. requested roof top but was told two stories from two different employees about why we could not. Bar service was slow and it did not seem as if anyone was alert to arriving guests. Recovery by GM once seated for dinner who made a very nice wine selection. Service was professional for dinner portion of service. not good first impression."

  • "Had a terrific time here. Friends who live in the area recommended it and we totally agree with their assessment. Friendly staff and great food. If we lived near here we would absolutely become regulars. I recommend this place without hesitation."

  • "Our server was wonderful, she put up with us asking to move out of the sun and was very helpful with suggestions on food and drink. Food was very good. We got the burger, oysters and the BLAT. Cocktails were also excellent. Wonderful views."

  • "The Thomas is consistently great, from their service to food and lastly ambiance. Their team is great, always with a smile on their faces. They are always the first spot I recommend to out of towners and also the place I want to go first when in downtown Napa. I recommend their bloody mary's and Turkish eggs for brunch and the mushroom mousse is to die for!"

  • "In this hyper competitive environment I don't see how this restaurant will last. Everything was overcooked and over salted. Even when ordering my meat medium rare it came well done. Staff was very apologetic but it really doesn't matter. Preparation was wrong all the way around. As far as comfort or atmosphere the café chairs upstairs are as uncomfortable as you can get. These are $30 chairs and they feel like it. Corkage fees are $25 a bottle even if you're in the industry. That just doesn't work in Napa. With all the options available in the Napa Valley, there is absolutely no reason to go to this restaurant. I really write reviews, but consider this a public service, pass on it."

  • "Had a very cool, hip but classic vibe due the architecture of the building. Bar downstairs, dining middle floor and a rooftop scene also. Service was notably amazing. Attentive, helpful wait staff, but also invisible at the same time. Everyone we dined with enjoyed their meal. The ricotta gnocchi like pasta (they called it something else - can't remember name) with lobster was amazing. Donut dessert was an incredible ending to a great meal."

  • "We requested a booth upon making a Reservation upon arrival the dining area was empty we were seated at a table in the middle of the room. We told the Hostess we requested a certain table and seeing the empty dining room could we kindly be seated at the table we had asked for. Rudely she sat us at our requested table. We were celebrating a birthday also noted in our reservation and it was never acknowledge. This is a fine spot to pop into but would not recommend for a special event. The best part of our dining experience was the table we had requested."

  • "Came to the Thomas for brunch using a Gilt City coupon that mirrored the restaurant's prix fixe brunch menu with the exception of an additional starter. Our server was attentive and friendly, adding to the cozy atmosphere of the quaintly decorated dining room. We started with cocktails, of course - a Harvey Wallbanger and a Bellini. The Wallbanger was tasty, but the Bellini was a bit weak. I do recommend the Thomas Fry-up, although everything on the menu looked excellent. The mushrooms that accompanied the eggs were cooked to perfection and nicely seasoned. Overall, a great place for brunch in the heart of downtown Napa. My only regret is that we were not able to enjoy the rooftop - guess I'll have to return on a sunny day!"

  • "We have been here a few times now and have never been disappointed. This visit was for our anniversary dinner and they took very good care of us. We were given a corner booth with the great outdoor view. The staff was attentive but not hovering. The wine and spirits list is varied and well done: you are sure to find something that appeals to you. The bar creates some fantastic specialty cocktails and should not be missed. The food here is the star and if you are willing to try some new things you will be rewarded. I know my wife and I have been each time we visit we have been. The menu is seasonal and the locally grown items change to reflect that. Brunch or dinner are tops. The Thomas tops our list of local Napa restaurant stars."

  • "While still a good dining experience it seems to have dropped a bit relative to other Napa options. Will try again later in the year."

  • "The Thomas is a great spot for a bite and a little Day Drinking on a weekend. Do yourself a favor and go later in the day (2 ish) and you won't have to fight the masses for a rooftop table. And ask them for the doughnuts. Outstanding!"

  • "We had a leisurely dinner with friends the other evening. We told the server we wanted to take our time, and we did - just enjoying the food, wine, atmosphere, and a dinner with friends. We started by sharing several appetizers, including the delicious mussels. The sommelier was very helpful with assisting us with the choice of a white wine. Then, we had entrees, though I shared mine with my friend. The pork chops were excellent, as was the brownie at the end of our meal. I have eaten here several times, and it just keeps getting better."

  • "Love the space. Food was great. Lot's of good appetizers worthy of sharing. Hard to choose. Started with Oysters and fun cocktails. Settled on small plates and an entree. Mushroom Mousse, Beef Tarter, Lentil Salad, Chicken. Don't forget the truffled twice baked potatoes. We ordered two. No room for dessert but the donuts at the next table looked great."
    Dined on 2/16/2014
  • "My husband ordered a hamburger that was inedible, the beef tartare was overwhelmed by whatever sauce was in it, but the brusell sprouts were good. I ordered a gin and tonic that I couldn't drink when it came because it had cucumber flavor in it as well as a piece of cucumber. We definitely will not be back."

  • "Had a very nice birthday dinner here. Food was quite good, ambiance very nice."

  • "From the looks on the outside we weren't sure if we had made a mistake. Looked like more of a bar when you first arrive. Lots of energy, good food and service was great."
    Dined on 2/6/2014
  • "Food was awesome. Had the French toast, wife had pancake. All good. Bloody Mary not my favorite - had some cucumber flavor - which I read about ahead of time - so my bad. Wife loved hers. Waitress was awesome. Restaurant was clean and quiet."

  • "We have been to the Thomas several times, and have sent numerous others there to try it out. Never disappointed, always wonderful food. Try the Burger, and don't miss the Brussel Sprouts or Mushroom pate with Whiskey jelly."

  • "Always top notch. Their bloody Mary's are amazing, their food is awesome."

  • "We had a wonderful time. The food was fabulous and the service by Kayla was outstanding."

  • "Salmon was perfectly prepared. The purée was so fresh tasting and really added to the plate. Salads were original and delicious. The lentil salad proved to be a favorite of our table. Presentation was very appealing. The Bibb lettuce salad needed more tomatoes. For dessert we ordered the orange sherbet and it did not disappoint but the crime frieche(sp) ice cream was the perfect end. We observed the next table as they tried the cheese plate but we had no more room to try anything else."

  • "Charming historic building, friendly service and a nice menu. Unfortunately, my martini was disappointing and also came with olives with pits in them. Ugh."
    Dined on 1/25/2014
  • "Food was excellent though small portions. Even though we were the only ones there , service was a little slow. Ambiance is great. In warmer weather seating non the patio will be awesome ."

  • "We enjoyed every aspect of our evening at The Thomas. The food, atmosphere and wait staff were all excellent! Even though I tend to opt for new experiences and new restaurants, I can't wait to go back! The truffled mushroom mousse was crazy good, the Thomas burger with fried egg outstanding, and the sugar doughnuts off the hook."

  • "Nice place downtown with great food. Prices on high side and menu has interesting dishes. Enjoyed each dish at our table. Recommend for foodies but not traditional diners."
    Dined on 1/19/2014
  • "Great place for dinner in downtown Napa. The menu is unbelievable, and for the most part, the execution is great. Cocktails are definitely a highlight. We enjoyed the salmon tartare, brussel sprouts with chili caramel, pork chop with fennel slaw, gnudi with lobster, and dessert special. The decor is also really cool, paying homage to the old building. Staff were all lovely. Didn't get to check out the rooftop bar, but will likely be back."
    Dined on 1/17/2014
  • "I have been to The Thomas more than once. This time was better than usual. I think the restaurant has been open long enough that the staff really has it together. My entire party had an amazing food and service experience and it was a good value for the caliber of the food! Keep it up!"
    Dined on 1/4/2014
  • "The food was wonderful (had the burger), as were the drinks. However, you can't be choosy as there are not many options. The menus (bar and food) are both very small. Beautiful atmosphere though."

  • "We were vacationing in Napa and read good reviews. We were hesitant because the only available reservation was late, but decided to have a cocktail elsewhere to kill time. Best decision we made. I can honestly say that our meal was one of the best we've had this year if not the best."
    Dined on 11/9/2013
  • "I love how The Thomas has three experiences built in: the bar on the first floor, the dining room on the second floor, and the outdoor patio and bar on the third floor. You can almost choose your own adventure! The menu has just the right amount of choices without feeling overwhelming and everything that comes out of the kitchen is delicious. My guests were more "meat and potato" eaters while my husband and I are big foodies, and The Thomas pleased us all. Go early for a cocktail and when the season is right, sit outside on the roof patio."
