Originally built in the early 1900's and brought back to life in 2012, The Thomas features Fagiani's, a lively bar on the ground floor with a world-class cocktail program, an open-kitchen with a wood fire grill on the second floor, and a roof top terrace with park and river views on the third floor.

  • "Came to The Thomas on a whim for a birthday dinner...... it was great the food ( cheesburger with egg and bacon ) was so great my son loved it. My halibut was excellant, please dont take this to much as critisim, but cooked perhaps 15 seconds too long, but it was was so great. Excellent drinks, I had a Bourbon / with sprakling wine,,,,, a real treat. the Coffee was great, The waiter was top notch. Love the roof top dining. Love the casualness of the environment...... very special....... thanks Kevin Radley"

  • "I made a reservation and when we arrived they said they'd just seated a party of 20 and could we wait 10 minutes. We were given the option of sitting in the sun or at the bar. Why have reservations if there aren't tables available? The salmon eggs Benedict was adequate. The salmon piece was thick and salty but the eggs were poached well. Merely ok for a Napa brunch."

  • "While the view was lovely, the experience overall was disappointing. We were seated in the hot sun with no shade on the terrace. Service was slow and the brunch menu was very limited. The food was good, the drinks below par. We wouldn't return and wouldn't recommend it to others."

  • "On a warm evening the upstairs terrace is a nice dinning experience. Overall the food is well prepared and the taste is as expected. The choice of "overly loud" music needs to be toned down and less hard rock. Biggest note regards the handling of brought in Wine. Never been to a restaurant where they offer to open the wine and then remove it from your table. Probably would be OK but gone for fifteen minutes and only returned after a request. Was planning on consuming part as a before dinner drink. Never saw the cork. So what if it was a $100 or more bottle of wine, not that the value is critical, but why take it from the table at all. Should have been opened at the table where there is no suspect as to the contents!!"

  • "Your restaurant was recommended by a friend (another restaurant owner) that thought it would be the perfect place for our special occassion. He was absolutley correct. This was a pleasant surprise and a now "Must" destination for us to revisit and recommend. We were looking for that perfect place that was classy but not snobish. The entres ware gourmet and perfect portion size. The beverages were original but not crazy-random ingredients. We were a party of 5 that was greeted and treated special from the minute we walked through your door. Thank you for the roof-top view, wonderful staff and amazing food....we will be back and I cant wait to brag about your job well done."

  • "These guys know how to cook. Everything was good, most likely even the stuff they forgot to bring. Two things really detracted from the experience. The service was either slow or uninterested (couldn't tell), forgetful (or forget you), and kind of irritating. 30 other restaurants in Napa also have untrained waiters, so you kind of expect it, but this was more noticeable than usual. We were out on the deck up top, which is nice, but the rock soundtrack grinding through the speakers neither went with the food nor the visual atmosphere. I see Open Table considers LOUD to be energetic. The music was sort of frenetic. Maybe it sells more drinks."

  • "Our dinner reservation was for July 4th at 8:30 I requested a 3rd table so we had a view of the river for the fireworks. I thought the 3rd floor was restricted to only reserved tables for dinner. I was not aware there was a bar that was open to anyone and as the night went on was getting very crowded. The hostess must have realized this was going to be a problem an seated us on the 2nd floor with a good view through the windows of the fireworks. It was a wonderful dinner I would highly recommend it."

  • "Service was terrible. Did not offer drinks. We had to ask for wine and when first bottle was empty they did not ask if we wanted more. A couple of people didn't even get water until asked for a second time. Had to ask three times to get a soda. They didn't ask if we had any questions on the menu. We asked if they hay any specials and the answer was a short "No". It took over an hour to get our food and when we got it everything was overcooked. Salmon and fillet mignon were burned to a crisp. They took stake back and half hour later had still not brought a replacement. So my hubby ended up eating cold left overs from other dinners at our table. Appetizer plates were never cleared, water was not refilled. Truly awful experience."

  • "We had one of the worst dinners at The Thomas. It took them 2 1/2 hours to serve us and, when the food finally arrived (at 10:30 p.m.), it was undercooked and cold. When we complained to the manager, he took $50 or less than 10% off of our bill. Absolutely horrible experience. We will never eat there again."

  • "I don't know if we weren't young enough, hipster enough or local enough, but we received very shoddy service, as well as the worst table on the upstairs rooftop patio WITH a reservation. After seeing several regulars patrons play musical tables, we realized we should have asked to be moved. Even though we placed drink orders at least 15 minutes before any food, we were 3/4 of the way through the first and second courses before they arrived. I think our server was fighting with the bartender; she was very tense and preoccupied. The food (halibut and filet mignon) was very good, but we watched the diners next to us send both their dinners back for being cold and/or undercooked."

  • "We sat on the second floor (there are three). The bottom floor and top floor are quite noisy but good bar scenes if that is what you are looking for! We were looking for a more quiet spot with amazing food which we found on the second floor. The food was good that when we noticed others that had just sat down after we finished our meal we were jealous that they were just beginning their dining experience and were done! We ordered the salmon tartate for an appetizer which was delightful followed by the salmon and pork chop dinner and finished with the peach crumble for dessert. The service was fantastic only matched by the food. Highly recommended!"

  • "This was a great place to eat and the food was outstanding. It was recommended to us by a lady who worked at a wine tasting place in Napa. We probably went there on the wrong night because it was the weekend of the NASCAR race and there was a big crowd in town for a festival. It was a little crowded, and we were upset that we could not eat on the roof after we requested it, and we saw lots of people were walking up there while we were eating. We were also served by multiple waitresses and waiters and we never figured out who our waiter was. On a normal night in Napa, this would probably be a great restaurant to eat at."

  • "We came by our boat on the Napa River with 4 friends from the Sacramento area. Docked at the new downtown dock and walked one block to The Thomas. Our table for outddorswas ready and we were promptly seated. In the sun so servers graciouly moved another umbrella over. Food, drinks and atmosphere great. Have been here several times for brunch but lunch was almost as good. Historic and great view. Guests loved everything especially the BLAT and hamburger. Found the lavender lemonade too sweet for my taste however. Seated at 1:00 but didn't get our food until 1:45 but delightful afternoon."

  • "This was our fourth time to The Thomas. We were looking forward to dining on the second floor and requested a specific table on the reservation. Second floor was closed and the three of us were led to third floor outdoor terrace seat. We were under dressed, so cold, and the tables were too close together. All food has been stellar in the past. This time, we were all disappointed with our dishes: tasteless chilled pea soup with 1/4 tsp crab that we paid extra for, bland gnocchi with 3 tiny morsels of lobster that paid $9 extra for, ribs were dry. My second glass of wine never arrived & I was advised that the draft mechanism was broken. (I was experimenting w/draft wine). Too late for another glass. Expensive and disappointing!"

  • "We were excited by the chef (Michelin star winner) and the food was prepared well and seasoned well. My husband ordered the halibut which was delicious and perfectly cooked; I ordered the filet and the bone marrow bernaise was sinfully divine. The starch and vegetables on both plates were lackluster but not in any way bad. We tried this place for an anniversary since we had already tried the other big restaurants in Napa (Morimoto, Pear, etc). We were crammed into a two top next to a gregarious and loud group of middle aged women who were lamenting their past romances - not very romantic. This place would be fine for a date night with another couple or for a group of friends but the ambience isn't the best for an anniversary."

  • "We made a reservation at The Thomas at Fagiani's in order to celebrate our anniversary. As usual, we did so through Open Table and only a few days in advance. We had never dined there before and we were definitely not disappointed. It is a lovely restaurant with great atmosphere and we were seated at an exceptional table. My husband had indicated on the reservation that we were celebrating our anniversary and upon being seated we were served a complimentary glass of champagne to celebrate the event. Our waiter was very attentive and knowledgable about the wine list and the menu and offered suggestions that were very much appreciated. Our meals were prepared perfectly and tasted delicious. We have no complaints and would definitely return!"

  • "The service was great! Great host staff and great waiter. The mushroom mousse was amazing but the rest of the meal fell flat. While it wasn't super expensive, I still felt like I overpaid for the quality received. My lobster in the gnudi was overcooked and the dish was sloppy. The halibut was underwhelming. With so many options downtown I am surprised that The Thomas wasn't on their game more. Especially since the restaurant only had about 4-5 tables sat. Was far more impressed with the bar menu downstairs than the dinner menu upstairs. Will definitely be back to the bar! "

  • "We wanted a romantic meal with a nice view on our last night in Napa. The rooftop dining was perfect. The food just so-so. My wife had a filet mignon and it was average for the price, I had salmon and it was tasty but overcooked. We shared the brussel sprouts and they were the best part of the meal. Our server had a large table behind us and ignored us the whole meal. If you want ambience this is the place, but you will pay top dollar for average food."
