The Thomas at Fagiani'sMothers Day DinnerIt was a beautiful evening and we asked for the roof top terrace which overlooks the Napa River and downtown. The food was perfect, fresh, creative and delicious. Our waiter was attentive and patient with our menu changes (2 vegans, 1 chicken/fish only) 1 anti veggie-a waiter's nightmare and a 6 year old). On this visit we enjoyed cocktails, house sparkling and wine, and for food we shared the asparagus to start, followed by an AMAZING burger and salmon. The warm and welcoming service started from the reception at the door and continued throughout the night and we have some great pictures of beautiful Downtown Napa Valley from our rooftop patio seat. We did not know of this distinction. The papaya tart for dessert was heavenly. An overall great experience. We had reservations, and were warmly greeted. Had asked for a table with a view, and we were seated by the window with a river/park view. Very good wine and reasonably priced wine list. The Storybook Syarh Blend was wonderful. Service is friendly and knownledgeable. Food ranged from very good flat iron steak to excellent PEI mussels and Asian pear salad. The food is as good (or really better) as the best in the Valley. I wouldn't be surprised if there is Michelin star in the works, but the great hamburger is at the same level as the delicious and delicately prepared cod. They seem to take great care with everything. The food is excellent and the service is outstanding. A very friendly and professional staff. The cocktail and wine list is quite extensive and the made from scratch cocktails with fresh ingredients are delightful! A nice place for a late night drink also. We had long admired the "bones" of this building and hoped someone would do something nice with it. The Thomas is lovely inside, with cute black leather banquettes and embroidered linens covering the wall. The dining room is busy, but no too crowded. Third floor outdoor patio is a knockout.
It was hard to choose among the interesting plates. We had the chicken-fried sweetbreads/waffles and oysters to start, and the sand dab special and lamb shank for mains. Flavors were spot on. With a nicely priced bottle of School House Mescolanza it was a delicious meal. of "service ' each time the chef had someone's
food ready to be picked up. They appeared not to
be able to handle the crowd. Our first course
came quickly and then a 30 minute wait to receive
the entree. Staff were running to keep up.

The mushroom mousse was one of the most unique and incredible things I've ever tasted. Jane helped round off the evening with knowledgeable and unobtrusive service. We had no problem talking to each other because there was so much noice and loud music that you just talked over it. If you want romantic "forget about it". This place is fun. Everyone was up including the staff.Our table was ready for us, food came out perfect (it was great!),very attentive staff (water glasses were always kept full). Our server never missed a step. Just want to share one thing, I watched across the room the host and hostess check a table to make sure that when a table was being prepared for the next group,they checked every spoon,fork and plate making sure everything was in perfect alinement.
