Diner Reviews
  • "Great view, great wine, quiet, and romantic. We will return"

  • "We dined here for a business lunch. Service was ok, the food was good but very slow considering it wasn't busy. Server never brought bread although asked."

  • "This is a great rooftop restaurant that is still relatively undiscovered. As such, it's great for the urban view and lovely outside dining in the summer. I had the southwest chicken salad, which was a huge portion and so very tasty. Highly recommend!"

  • "I can't believe this place isn't booked every night! The view is incredible at night. I was unsure how the food would be, but I was pleasantly surprised- it was amazing! The lobster roll and the duck dumplings are a must have. Both are very bold and flavorful. The service was excellent, the ambiance is great, and the food is great. Definitely a place to go for a great rooftop Chicago experience, definitely a hidden gem"

  • "Had a great business lunch on the patio. I would recommend for lunch and it's not noisy."

  • "I love the location the atmosphere and I usually try and hang out with my girlfriends because we love a nice vibrant location. Nice clean quite and comfortable. Unfortunately, I don't work in the down town area so It's usually my ideal to come and visit at least twice a year in the summer. Love it and have recommended to others."

  • "I was in Chicago from June 27 through June 30 and I chose to eat here both evenings of my trip. I was a guest at The Conrad Hilton. I did not want to go far and this place turned out to be great. The cocktails were very good and so was the food. And there was a wonderful waiter Tom who really added to the experience. He recommended food that he would eat and was on point with every suggestion he made. I would not only return to the Conrad but would go back to this restaurant. And of course, I must have Tom wait on me."

  • "Terrible service, worse food, luckily it was expensive. I would only go back for drinks and probably not that either."

  • "We were celebrating 2 birthdays and reunion of old friends. Two people are photographers so I requested a table with an unobstructed view and a perfect table was waiting for us. The weather was perfect and we had a great time. I think the kitchen must be on a different floor since the service was very slow but the wait staff was attentive. We had a lot of catching up to do so the longer wait time was not a problem for us but not a place to go for a quick meal. The tables are spaced far enough apart that you get a sense of privacy. Our our of town guests loved it too. We will be going back. The prices are reasonable for a rooftop setting."

  • "It happened to be movie night at dusk and they played Ferris Bueller while we ate. I liked that it wasn't too packed and that people were actually watching the movie instead of being loud. It was a unique experience. The staff is very friendly and the view is great. The rooftop is on the 5th floor, so you are surrounded by buildings. The price is very reasonable and the food is good."

  • "We had so much fun on our 39th Anniversary, and our waiter was wonderful."

  • "This restaurant was just ok. I had made reservations .... no need as we were the ONLY couple in the entire restaurant. Made me wonder why. The waiter was nice .... but took him quite a while to come back to our table time and time again. The food portions were ok ... but on the small side. Menu was VERY small. Would probably not eat there again just because of the limited menu."

  • "Couldn't get into a restaurant due to Chicago Restaurant week so deceided to try this one. Service and the food was excellent will be going back again soon. Tom, our waiter was a delight."

  • "The name of the restaurant is deceiving. Maybe in the summer you'd see more of a terrace or a rooftop. The food is typical overpriced hotel restaurant food. We were the only people in the restaurant (should have been a sign) and were rarely recognized by our server."

  • "Was there on a cold Chicago night, imagine that, and they serve out into the lobby of the hotel, whereby I got a spot right next to their very cool fireplace. Excellent burger and perfect wine. Tom helped to guide me and did a terrific job. As it's in the Conrad Hotel, I went there for breakfast the next morning, using a voucher that came with my room rate. The hearty American breakfast lives up to its billing, Meredith did a terrific job."

  • "The restaurant was mostly deserted, but the staff was friendly and the food was good. There is a terrace, but it is only open during warm weather, during the winter you can't see the scenary."
    Dined on 12/24/2013
  • "Good quality of meal, great presentation, warm service but disapointing environement (no rooftop in the dinning table)."
    Dined on 11/28/2013
  • "Seafood done well, attentive service, and high- energy ambience, but nothing we experienced separates it from the many fine fish houses in Chicago's near North neighborhood - though it will not disappoint."

  • "The Terrace has a beautiful view that accompanies the great food. I had the lobster rolls and they were fabulous. My group of 12 loved the drinks and the great view of Trump Tower."
    Dined on 10/4/2013
  • "Great open terrace, warm, clear night makes a perfect evening. Friendly wait staff. I liked that it wasn't a mob scene, low key, casual, and relaxing. You don't have to fight for a spot like at the "Witt" or "Trump" rooftops. Some hits and misses on the food, barbecue shrimp and grits, a "10" Crab cakes and chicken and waffles, not so much. Crab soup also noteworhty. All in all with a great view and pretty good food, it's definitley worth the trip"

  • "Outstanding service, tasty food, and gorgeous view of downtown Chicago. I enjoyed my experience and would definitely recommend The Terrace at Conrad to others."
    Dined on 9/12/2013
  • "Everything was nice and the group of individuals that were with me would agree also. The only negative to the experience was price for the meals and the amount served. One would have thought that there would be more food on the plates and the same would apply for the drinks as well. But overall the experience was good and I plan to visit again in the future."

  • "This outdoor patio space is truly exceptional, but the food is highly overpriced and lacking in flavor. The fried catfish tacos were decent, but everything else was sub-par (and the maccaroon dessert was stale). I am guessing this would be a fantastic place for a happy hour or late night cocktails, but don't bother with the menu..."

  • "This is a little known gem. It an open-air, tucked away place for those who love eating or drinking outdoors. It's a calm oasis just off of bustling Michigan Avenue. The menu as of August is unusual (mainly Southern items) but quite good. Diners also can order typical food off the room service menu. The location is great. The views are pleasant - not spectacular. For my most recent visit, our waitress was cordial, helpful and efficient."
    Dined on 8/23/2013
  • "The menu appears to have a Cajun theme, but features many fatty options. Amongst our large group, not a single option on the menu was viewed favorably. Particularly disappointing were the absence of outdoor dining friendly appetizer options. With that being said, the execution of the menu was fine. The killer was the 30-45 minute lag time to have our drinks delivered - multiple times."

  • "Great place for drinks or a meal. Outstanding service from Abel."

  • "The occasion was my husbands birthday, and for a group of seven that arrived late, we were seated immediately. At first our server seemed a little overwhelmed but then apologized for the 15 minute wait for our cocktails. Although he did explain they were understaffed that evening. After ordering dinner, the server was very attentive and pleasant. The food was great and we really enjoyed the rooftop on such a beautiful night. I would definitely recommend the Terrace Restaurant."

  • "It was great to sit in a quiet place and enjoy the breezy, cool Chicago night."
    Dined on 7/29/2013
  • "Great atmosphere and our server was very good. The only negative I have for the place (and it's a big one which is why I only gave it 3 stars) is that nothing on the menu is worth the price...you're really paying more for the view. My vodka martinis (up) were very watered down...even when I said something to our server after the first and he assured me the bartender would make it properly for the second it was still pretty watered down. Watering down the drinks is clearly just what they do. I expect more from a $14 martini. I would recommend this place for drinks and a few apps...and when I say 'drinks' I mean beer and wine."

  • "The terrace was such a nice and reasonable rooftop dining experience. The reservation was free and had a very laid back atmosphere. The food was amazing even though the menu was limited. Great bar to boot and the view, while limited to the upper halves of the surrounding buildings, was great and left you feeling as if you were up much higher than you actually were."

  • "I wasnt too happy when we walked in bc the place looked so plain. LAter in the night, they finally put some lights on and lit some candles, which gave this place some beauty. The food was amazing! The gilt coupon I bought included up to a $50 wine and I was disappointed when the waiter brought us "cupcake" wine that is sold for $12 at Target. He rarely came to check on us and got our order wrong and also threw away the food we had meant to take home. Other than these mistakes, the food was AMAZING and I had a great time with friends."
    Dined on 7/13/2013
  • "I really liked the atmosphere for hanging with a large group of friends. Not too loud where you can talk to people without having to yell. But yet there was great background music. The service was a bit slow for drinks, so many people in my group when to the bar instead. But overall, I enjoyed it."
    Dined on 7/5/2013
  • "Let alone that its a hotel, it's a generally good outdoor space. Not much of a view (it's no trump) but you still have a great space outside. Not too crowded with tables, you can really enjoy your parties company. The food is good (southern comfort) and the drinks are special. Great little spot to take your guests for a night out."
    Dined on 7/5/2013
  • "Amazing food. Best shimp and grits I've had ever. Waiter was also very attentive. Views from the rooftop get better at night as the city lights come up. Not to crowded. Good for a girls night pre-drink."
    Dined on 6/21/2013
  • "Really enjoyed taking my family to this hidden spot. Great, low country cuisine--shrimp with grits, etc. But avoid the Low Country Boil entree--it's barely big enough to qualify as an appetizer. Strange because the portion size is fine with the rest of the menu."
    Dined on 6/16/2013
  • "The food was definitely worth what they charged for it. I didn't really enjoy the salad, and most of the folks who dined with me had the same response regarding their meals."
    Dined on 5/31/2013
  • "If you are looking for a place to just relax outside and have drinks this is a nice spot to begin."
    Dined on 5/26/2013
  • "Took forever to get a server. They said they were not staffed correctly when we complained. It literally took 1 hour and 45 minutes before we had our food. When we complained, they did a very poor job of resolving the situation. They seriously need to get it together."
    Dined on 5/18/2013
  • "This is a great roof-top bar and resturant hidden away to most. The food was great, a little pricey, but a great outdoor experience for hotel resturant/bar. Next time we are in Chicago we'll make a stop at the Conrad, even if it is only for drinks."
    Dined on 5/18/2013
  • "they don't open the rooftop at all. so we decided to go to other place."
