  • "The service was awful. We waited for an outside table and when we were seated my back was to the water and the view. What I saw was the wait staff station and people coming and going. It then took an absurdly long time for anyone to offer us a drink, let alone tell us specials or take our order. I finally asked someone if they could take our order and it seemed like no one was really assigned to our table. We received our appetizer after a reasonable amount of time but our main courses took another absurdly amount of time. When the food finally arrived, it was cold. So clearly it had been sitting around for awhile. We decided not to get coffee or dessert as our experience by then was so disappointing, we did not wish to continue it."

  • "Service was ok just confused. There was a private party and the kitchen could not handle both the party and the restaurants other guests. When we sat down they told us it would be 20 minutes before they would be able to put our order in. We could have drinks and only appetizers from the raw bar or salad while we wait. Just never heard of a restaurant that can't handle a private party and their guests."

  • "Dine outside and you can practically dip your hand in lovely Lake Mahopac! But the new owners must get some sun control as it's no fun to have the blazing setting sun interrupt an otherwise sublime setting. The menu has something for everyone, from raw bar staples and fresh salads to mouth watering beef tenderloin with scrumptious lobster mashed potatoes. The tuna (seared rare of course) and the scallops on polenta are also winners. There's also attractive inside seating but the one negative is the smell of popcorn that permeates the air. In a word, Yuck. The one complaint is that service needs to step it up. It took way too long for drinks or to be told that the second bottle of wine was not available."

The only this that was somewhat of a bother was the setting sun as we had dinner outside on the patio. Maybe a diffuser curtian could be put up to reduce the glare."

Multiple requests for items before finally getting them after waiting a very long time. Maybe she was having a bad day but it was early evening and not busy so this was the only disappointment."

  • "We went there because my wife remembered that the Terrace Club was nice for outside dining. It was that, but we were bowled over by the food. She had a rib eye steak and I had sea scallops. Both were a delight. We went back ten days later with two good friends, and not only was the food just as good for us, they (people who dine out a lot) also extraordinary."

  • "We enjoy the place, the food is top notch, and the staff attentive. However, when they have outside seating added, especially on a beautiful day and a holiday like Fathers Day, the kitchen is not big enough to handle all the tables, so the service was quite slow. We forgive them, but they really booked more than they could handle."

  • "Although this time they did not have my favorite steak (Niman Ranch steak) on the menu, they had other cuts from the same California ranch. The fillet mignon was very good, but my taste buds had waited for 3 months to re-savor my favorite steak, so I may be understating how good it really was. Victor, the manager, felt bad for me & said next time to call him 1 week before I want to dine there & he'll make sure to order me "my" steak. Still can't get over the size of their shrimp from the raw bar. Service was awesome, as usual. The cheese cake dessert was delicious, very smooth, reminding me of Junior's Cheese Cake from Brooklyn, NY. Was surprised that they did not offer any soup, not even clam chowder. A great Father's Day celebration."

  • "Our party of 6 was spoiled by the attentive service from Lori and the amazing food. The filet mignon was cooked to a text-book, perfection of medium rare and the lobster mashed potatoes were a meal in itself with juicy chunks of lobster in every forkful. Our thanks to the talented chef! We learned of the new owners who are embracing organic / local cuisine and it shows in the diverse new menu and fresh raw bar. The raw clams and oysters taste like they were fresh caught that day. Lastly, the wine selections by the glass were plentiful and the pinot noir was an excellent pairing with the steak. Also of note was the apple blossom dessert which was delicious. We all sent back clean plates. Can't wait to go back."

After finally being seated, we waited 25 minutes for bread and we were brought 4 pieces of bread for 5 people. We couldn't even ask for more bread because our waiter was MIA. We waited about an hour for our food and the server was apologetic. Great view, but for the price of the food and the poor service, we wouldn't return. "

  • "There is new ownership here and they may need a bit more time to get their act together. The atmosphere, sitting on the lake, can't be beat. Unfortunately, the service was spotty, but the new owner is aware of this and told us he is "working on it." We will be back and hopefully he will be diligent and improve the dining experience."

  • "A very disappointing meal last night. Our "neighborhood gem" has changed hands. We had made reservations for 5 people and requested a window table. It was pouring rain when we arrived, and there were only ten other diners. We were seated at a table for 8, obviously not set for us, and twice asked by servers if more people were coming. Drinks were served, but none of their signature "popcorn" or bread which we finally asked for. The bread (like hot dog rolls) was cold and the butter colder. After a long 40 minutes, our entrees arrived: two pork chops (very good), two tunas (mediocre, not fresh tasting) and a shrimp rigatoni (poor). The server was genial, but overall, the restaurant lacks hospitality and personal attention. "

  • "My family took me to the Terrace Club to celebrate my birthday and the entire experience was a disaster. We waited an inordinate period of time for everything- from water to bread to our appetizers and then meal. A cheeseburger arrived after an hour wait with no cheese, sent it back and it was raw, sent it back again to cook it as originally requested "medium". Waiting an hour for food at brunch is unacceptable and no information or apology from the wait staff or owner about the delays. Slow service, mediocre food, I would never go back there."

  • "Poor service..music was being played as if it was a night club, was so loud couldn't even hear the waiter. Have been there before and always had great experience this time it all went down hill. Wife's food was over cooked, my sons food was under cooked almost raw sent it back it then came back so charred itwas inedible they ran out of fries n substituted home made mashed potatoes but never said that till they served the meals. My steak was over cooked past well done and was tough as leather. Would not recommend going there ...the view is all it has left."

  • "We had a great experience here from the moment we walked in. The ambience was gorgeous and modern. Although it was overcast the view was spectacular. Scott our waiter was awesome and friendly. We started w/ two apps. One was a special of homemade mozzarella/prosciutto which was to die for. We both has steak, my husband had the Niman Ranch and I the filet mignon. Food was fresh and tasty and cooked to perfection. After dinner we stayed for the the band which we ended up dancing to. Just a great, fun night all around "

  • "Absolutely awesome jumbo "shrimp" cocktail, cannot believe its size & It did not take away from the taste. My date felt similarly. Still talking about my steak dinner! It was perfectly cooked medium-rare & juicy. The string beans were crispy so as to preserve all of the nutrients (the way string beans & broccoli should be served!), ordered a side dish ($7, a tad much) because I've never had string beans in any restaurant as crispy! The 16oz steak practically weighted 16-cooked oz. Literally no fat or bone & there was no waste whatsoever, the grill flavor was throughout & in every bite, very succulent. I felt the accompanied sauce took away from the grill flavor & found it too salty for my taste, only used it once to taste it. Will return!"

  • "5 of us went there for Restaurant Week. Instead of the restaurant putting their best foot forward, it was the worst restaurant that I went to during Restaurant Week. I might add that I went to 3 others. The appetizer wasn't what we order, the entrée menu only had hamburgers and salads. My friend had a salad that had brown leaves (awful). I had a cheese burger and fries. The fries were limp (not very good). As I said before there were 5 of us and when I asked for bread because there wasn't any on the table 4 slices were brought to us. Several of us ordered Chocolate Bread Pudding, regular pudding was served and when I asked why it wasn't chocolate I was told that white chocolate was used. Won't be going there again."

  • "Food was very good and we had a great waiter. Not very crowded for a Friday lunch during Restaurant Week. My only complaint is that the "hostess" lingered on the phone for a good ten minutes while I stood there with another person who did not arrive with me.. Even after she hung up the phone, she seemed reluctant to seat me ( I was waiting for a friend) and the other person sat at the bar. I don't think that is professional or appropriate hostess behavior."

  • "There were five tables of diners the entire time we were there and it took almost 20 minutes for appetizers to arrive. The clams casino were inconsistent - some were cold, some very fishy. The mussels entrée had so much garlic that you felt the garlic burn the back of your throat. Frites very well done! Chocolate bread pudding was suppose to be dessert, not what we received. I think it was a vanilla bread pudding, no explanation for the menu change was given. Coffee was not offered, we had to ask for cappuccino. Overall, very disappointing lunch - I'm sad to say!"

The raw bar was especially outstanding offering several varieties of east and west coast shellfish.   • "Had to be the worst experience at a restaurant that I ever had. The waitress didn't even know that they were offering 'family style" meals on Sundays. She coud not tell us about the oysters, she directed us to to blackboard. Two of the meals we needed to send back because they were actually unedible. The balance of the meals were edible but ot enjoyable. The fried calamari tasted like it came out of a bag from the freezer. The glasses were dirty. It was a disaster. The only reason I would go back is to sit outside in the summer for a drink only, no food."

  • "We tried out the Terrace Club as part of the Hudson Valley Restaurant Week promotion. We liked the atmosphere and energy level but we had to wait more than a half hour although we had a confirmed reservation. Two friends ordered the seafood shepards pie and both were disappointed with it as it had a very strong taste. I ordered the salmon which they were out of but offered the same dish with Tilapia...it was fine but nothing memorable. The desserts were the best part of the meal. This is a still a nice spot and worth a visit if you are in the area."
