The chef should take remedial egg lessons: scrambled eggs are supposed to be soft and delicious, not fried into hard little slabs. Dinner was OK, with ample portions. Service was perfunctory, not especially attentive, not especially helpful, but adequate. I think the Langham has dialed back their investment in staff training and customer service at this location, as the entire visit was punctuated with less than usual levels of staff attentiveness. But it's a captive audience in the hotel..."

  • "The Langham is a beautiful high-end hotel but their high-dollar brunch is ridiculous. They charge nearly $50 a person for very little. They have an omelette bar, a few bowls of fruit, bagels with accoutrement, a few dried out pastries and a few trays of dim sum, which were mostly empty when I went up. For that amount of money, we were expecting many more choices for the "lunch" part of "brunch." We have been to many brunches at comparable hotels with extensive offerings at their brunch, so we know the Langham is not comparable to other tier properties. Even their sign outside the room advertising the brunch shows seafood and pastry choices, neither of which were available. The jazz combo was also too loud and it was difficult to talk."

  • "It was a balmy day in Los Angeles and my friend and I decided to have a relaxing lunch at The Langham. From the moment you arrive you feel special. The valet attendants are very courteous and attentive. I had lunch at the Terrace overlooking a beautiful tree with lavender flowers by the pool. Service was very good. Rafael would ask if everything was fine and if we needed anything else. I ordered a grilled salmon and my friend ordered the crab roll that came with beet chips. The food was very good. We were so relaxed that we didn't feel the time go by. I enjoy the old world atmosphere. The perfect place to have lunch and feel pampered! I can't wait to come back!"

It was very special to be sitting out on the terrace looking at the old bridge and the trees in bloom on a beautiful winter day in Pasadena.   • "My friend took me for my birthday and it was our first time eating here. When we walked in for our 6pm reservation, there was only one other family dining. We were seated quickly and at a table next to the window. From here, it went downhill. To say that the pace of service was slow is putting it mildly. It was Dine L.A. week, so we ordered from that menu. For the first course, my friend ordered the Roasted Butternut Squash Bisque and I ordered the Roasted Mushroom. We both had the Pan Roasted Salmon for our second course. For the final course, I had the Sweet Potato Creme Brulee and he had the Chocolate Sabayon Mousse Martini. After the three hour meal, we both became ill. We will not be returning which is too bad. It has potential."

The butternut squash soup was too sweet to eat and everything on the creme brulee dessert place had so much sugar that we didn't eat much of it. The calamari appetizer was the best of everything we had. The entrees were fair."

  • "We usually go out for dinner on Christmas day, and finding a decent restaurant has always been a challenge. We have dined several times at the Terrace on Christmas and found the experience to be competent but unremarkable...until now. This year, because of the mild weather, we were seated on the patio overlooking the pool. Lovely! The outdoor heaters kept us comfy and it was wonderful to enjoy the stars and the moonlight. In the past, we'd always been seated inside where it tends to be noisy, so the quiet patio was a delight. The menu was prix fixe (which can often be tired and unimaginative), but the Langham has high standards and our traditional turkey dinners were delish. Service was friendly and extremely professional. We'll be back!"

We've also used the Langham for numerous corporate events."

  • "My wife and I miss the holiday and Sunday buffets at the former Ritz Carlton hotel. We've noticed that the brunch buffets have been scaled back in the number of food stations over time. Even the lone meat carving station in one corner of the dining room had only ham vs a selection of turkey, ham, and beef. When we totaled the cost per person for this year's holiday lunch at $90, it was a disappointment. We plan to go elsewhere next year for special events, despite the good service and pleasant setting at the Langham Hotel."

Another table having bread delivered during the main course as I was wondering where was our bread? After a request it arrived after our starter . The first course consisted of no more than three teaspoons (15ml) of Crab . The mains were passable. The Apple pie in a glass was a surprise especially the grated cheese therein ! Yuk !! Before finishing dessert waiter brought the bill wallet and "plonked" it on the table and disappeared. I have met screen washers at a road junction with more charm. For a Christmas Eve it was a family event spoiled. A few days earlier I was at the Langham in London, the quality of service was a world apart"

  • "When the hotel was run by the Ritz Carlton, the Holiday Sunday Brunch was incredible! Oysters, shrimp, sushi, carved meat and beautiful desserts were served. Now, the brunch is very limited. They had omelets to order and pastries and what was referred to as "dim sum" which consisted of four or five different potstickers. I ordered Eggs Benedict from the menu and it was okay, nothing special. Don't bother to get the "salt biscuits". Wait until you go to Grandma's house for flaky ones."

What was served for brunch was very good, but the selection was limited. For the price there should have been a lot more choices on the buffet. The dim sum was a nice twist. I would not go back for the brunch. It is worth going once to see the beautiful grounds and I definitely recommend the bottemless mimosas for just $7 more."
