Diner Reviews
  • "The food is nothing special. One very small, cold tart which is supposed to be hot, and 6 small, mushy rolled up sandwiches - each a bit bigger than a toonie. The rest are sweets: 2 scones & 2 small sweets. The chocolate one was wonderful. The tea at the Royal York is far superior in terms of the quality, quantity and diversity of the food. The waitress at the Windsor Arms brought the tea pots and one food tray. Later our water was refreshed once, and finally we were told we had a half hour before we had to leave. For two people it was about $100 with tip. A nice lunch at a good restaurant would be much preferred and better value. Get a new chef and an automatic door opener."

  • "Sadly the Tea Room at the Windsor Arms has lost it magic; so if you remember it from the 1990s and early 2000s, then you'll be disappointed. The sherry was served chilled (very 21st century and anathema to traditionalists), the quiche was cold and vinegary, the scones leaden, and no strawberries and cream. The service remains the one bright spot, led a by a veteran waiter from the Tea Room's glory days and supported by young servers who try their best."

  • "The food was great, variety of selections of quiches, scones, sandwiches and petit fours. Would try all of them again. Service was not as great for a 5 star hotel. The restaurant messed up our bookings and the hostess was extremely unresponsive. Only when the 2nd hostess checked her systems and saw that we were in fact correct, the main hostess begrudgingly agreed to find us a table. We were celebrating our anniversary with a twilight tea, and the service is not one that you would expect of a top rated restaurant. "

  • "It was my first time to high-tea in Toronto and the Windsor Arms left a great impression. I was a little nervous at first because I didn't know what to expect but I definitely enjoyed myself afterward. Will be back!"

  • "try the Shangra la if you want to know what high tea should be like. The Windsor arms has lousy food, and abhorable service. It took almost an hour to be seated, and the room wasn't full, this is with a reservation. The 3 waiters took over 30mins to acknowledge us, and only after I talked to the hostess. But to no avail we still weren't served right away. The tea tray was mediocre, the prosecco warm, and we were not given any hot water for our tea. When we asked for management to make a comment, there was no one around. Total waste of time and money. I have had tea around the city and this was the worst experience in the last 15 years of enjoying high tea. Shame on you Windsor Arms, it was even worse than the Royal York's tea."

  • "I made a reservation for 3pm, the restaurant called and confirmed the time with me but when I showed up, they told me that there was only a 3:30 pm seating and we needed to wait 30 minutes (which ended up being 40 minutes) to be seated. This wasn't overly convenient for those in my party that had other engagements after our afternoon tea. The menu did note that there was a 3pm seating. We were not the only people that seemed to have the same problem."

  • "This place is seriously over rated and over priced! The hotel called about 3 times the day of the reservation to confirm we were coming. Once would have been enough, thanks. As a result I thought the place would be crowded but only saw 5 other people there the whole time. The people running the place lack judgement. The hostess put us at a tiny table in the middle of the room. Okay, I'm with my wife, the place is empty so a nice quiet, private corner would make sense to most but no, we had to ask and explain. A single girl was enjoying her tea in peace when the hostess put 4 giggling girls right beside her. It seemed obvious to me she wanted to be left alone. Food and tea okay but not worth the price charged."
