The Tavern at Diamond Mills
Nice day at the TavernNice overall transition from sold out Mothers day brunch,(a very difficult day in this business) to regular menu at dinner time.
After minor hick-ups by the maitre D. and the bar, the well trained wait staff and the kitchen didn't miss a beat.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AM1st encounter of the foodie kind.Great spin on familiar choices exotic touches. Served at the right temperature, good portions waterview spectacular!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMDiamond Mills is the BEST!We ate at Diamond Mills two days ago and are looking for a reason to return, which we decided is because it is there! The food was beyond belief, the service impeccable, and we sat on a patio that had a view of falls prettier than any other place I have been. The only thing that got in the way of romance is the food was so good, I don't think my date had eyes for anything but his salmon!
This is fairly high-end, but the staff treated us like we were family and Michael and I cannot wait to return.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMNew Hudson Valley FavoriteOne of the better restaurants in the Hudson Valley. Could use some music and lower lighting in the dining room, but other than that, the food and service were great.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMMy wife and I always considerMy wife and I always consider Diamond Mills when we want a night out on the "town". Among the many Suagerties retaurants, it is a stand-out.
Paul4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMwell prepared and delicious.well prepared and delicious. wonderful variety of very tasty bread, some of which would have been better paired with butter instead of the delicious olive oils presented.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMUpon arrival, we were greetedUpon arrival, we were greeted warmly by the person who became our server. Since we had reviewed the lunch menu on line prior to our visit, we did not spend too long choosing, and our server was helpful and knowledgeable in answering our questions.
I choose a Tavern Burger, cooked precisely to order; the parmesan fries a great side. My wife ordered Grilled French Breast of Chicken, also well prepared. For dessert, the Key Lime Tart with Rasberry sorbet topped off the meal; the coffee was excellent too. The ambiance was grand, with a wonderful view of the falls.
I recommend advance review of the menu on line, as this venue may not be for everyone. Prices are consistent with similar venues. The food is prepared well and is tasty.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was excellent. LovelyFood was excellent. Lovely outdoor patio area overlooking the Falls (too cold to sit there during our visit). We had a nice seat indoors by the lighted fireplace. The whole point of our meal was for my husband's birthday. The restaurant was very quiet, only about six other customers - yet they served desert without any candles or acknowledgement of my husband's birthday - even though it was clearly written on the reservation. When I brought it to our server's attention, she apologized, The manager then came over and apologized - but that was not just good enough; the romantic dinner I had planned was ruined. There was no excuse for this oversight in a restaurant of this caliber. No goodwill gesture was offered to us.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMWhats not to loveExcellent food....stupendous service...beautiful building. Reasonably priced. Will return monthly.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMActually we had the EasterActually we had the Easter Sunday Brunch in the Ballroom which was quite impressive. There was a nice variety of breakfast items, the carving station choices were outstanding with the only disappointment being in the lack of a variety of hot vegetable choices.
We didn't have a chance to walk down to the Tavern but we'll be back to try out that restaurant.
