We went for the first time on a Thursday night and absolutely loved the place. It wasn't crowded, so it was quiet, romantic and the food superb. So we decided to go again on Saturday night (2 days later). Mistake. Place was crowded with several very loud people. We couldn't hear ourselves think, nevermind talk to each other. The tuna and the goat cheese terraine were fantastic, the Mahi Mahi very good, but not as good as the Scallops from Thursday night, and the pork belly was marginal. Still enjoyed it and would go back again, but would sit outside where it is quieter.

Best of everything! Several people recommended the resturant to us and it was everything they said and more. Lots of topas and full meal options. Great service, delicious food, great atmosphere. They could improve their parking situation but nothing but good reviews for the food and resturant!

The Tasting Room is our must-go-to restaurant when we visit St. Augustine. Each time we have gone, the menu reflects the season. We usually eat outdoors, but it is still too hot. Our server was attentive, the food yummy, and the wine delicious. Looking forward to going to The Tasting Room the next time we visit St. Augustine.

I would say the most notable part of our dining experience was the service. Impeccable and friendly, the service overall was outstanding. Had conversations with the owner about the fantastic menu, especially the paella. When in town again, I cannot wait to visit and try more from the menu..

I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. We had changed the times of our reservation twice that evening and they couldn't of been any more accommodating. The food was outstanding. We were a party of 6 and ordered small plates to pass around so everyone got a taste. They had a magician there the night we went who entertained each table and wouldn't accept any tips. Very impressed. He was very talented. They have a small outdoor seating area and when it looked like rain they brought us right in for a table. The Red Sangria is to die for.

Just not worth your time or money. The food was average, and for the price I expected better quality and presentation. It took too long to prepare our food as we waited what seemed an eternity. They have a good wine list.

We enjoyed eating at a small table in the courtyard on a cool evening. The tapas were delicious - especially the goat cheese and the beets. The wait staff was very helpful and recommending some Spanish whites and a Tempranillo. Linse and I shared a whole snapper that was prepared perfectly - one of the best fish plates I've had in a long time. Of course, we finished it all off with a decadent flan. The ambience was very good and the food was excellent, but the service matched them both. The wait staff was very attentive but not overly so.

Our favorite in NE FL. Best tapas by far ( with a wine list to match). We 'experimented' & went a la carte rather than small portion/tapas & were not disappointed. Our experience was enhanced when our waiter offered our fabulous Tempranillo @ 50% off menu price!

The food was good, my diet as a vegan totally understood and catered to. The presentation of the food was of a high standard too. Service was excellent! The wine exquisite! The environment was very nice - reminded me of the old New York cellar restaurants. We were dressed up to the nines and surprised to see more casual diners present, but not that it mattered - I love to dress up if I am going out to dinner! My only criticism was that the lighting was so low and the printing on the menu was very light in color with small lettering that we had to use my cell phone light just to read the menu!

It was difficult to hold a conversation at our table due to the overwhelming noise level from nothing more than the room not absorbing the sounds of the chatter around us. The muscian was even drowned out by the background chatter. Setting that issue a side, the waiter was very attentive without being bothersome and provided excellent assistance with recommendations of both wine and food selection. The food was simply outstanding. We will return to the Tasting Room if only for the food and service, but would not recommend for any special occaision or intimate dining experience because of the noise level.

Food good but--appetizer wildly overpriced for "precious" portion. Special entree not as described-waiter said they ran out of large thick pieces of swordfish and brought two smaller pieces tough and overdone- we sent back and they did substitute- still, prices high including wines-for what you get. If you are going to charge big city prices you need to deliver big city food and service. Still, food was good and server pleasant. Would give a second chance and a qualified" recommendation

The food was spectacular. They also have an enormous wine list. The service, however, is what made our experience so great. Our waiter was attentive and friendly and helped us make food and wine decisions (it was our first time there). He really went the extra mile to make us feel welcome. The manager was also above and beyond, answering our wine questions and letting us sample a wine. The entire staff made it a joy to be there. We will be back! ...and the bread pudding was delish!

Had a great dinner with my daughter. Our waiter, Joseph G, explained the dishes and suggested the New World Spain wine flight which complimented my dinner and intoduced me to a wine, Atteca, which I will look for again. The meat and cheese platter was a great start to our evening, followed by a selection of tapas. Spicy shrimp, tuna, lobster skewers and the grilled octopus were all excellent although my daughter thought the octopus stood out. And although they were out of pork belly, the chef prepared a pork tenderloin for us that was outstanding and filled our pork craving and put the exclamation point on a great evening. Can't wait to come back to see what is on the menu next time.

Okay, certainly not bad if you had not been there under the previous ownership/management - it was fantastic with a wide and satisfying menu. St. Augustine is full of okay restaurants that serve food that is beyond the price - unfortunately I now add the Tasting Room to that list. I was so disappointed in the menu, taking friends from out of town there for a special meal, that I almost walked out. We had to order an entrée to split to just be able to meet a minimum tapas experience. Too bad - I wont be going back.

The overall experience was okay, but this is definitely not a place for children or teens. To truly enjoy the food here, you should have a strong palate for seafood. Note they don't make any kind of mixed drinks, they only offer fountain drinks and a large wine selection. The dessert was not the best. The chocolate tart was too heavy and the tres leche a wasn't as soft and lucious as a traditional tres leeches dish should be. But if love shellfish and wine, this is the place to go.

    Dissapointed
    Dined on 5/17/2014
The Tasting Room's name should be changed. It used to be a Tapas bar with great food selection, great entertainment, and a wonderful ambience. They have changed it into basically a restaurant. They removed the big couches that were up close to the musician/band, they brightened the lights, and the COMPLETELY changed the menu! Not sure if they sold the restaurant or what but......this used to be our favorite place in St. Augustine...no more. We will probably not be back. Oh, one last thing. In the mens bathroom they have a framed "review" that says it was voted best tapas bar. They need to take this down since they aren't one anymore.

Only time available on Open Table was either before 6 or 8:30, so took the 8:30. Based on advertising and reviews we were looking for Tapas and music. When we arrived 1/2 hour early to get a drink at the bar thinking they would be so busy...but there was only 1 other party in the whole restaurant and no host to be found. Waited 5 minutes and then started to look for the host. Finally at a table with a menu and no tapas to be found. Very disappointing. Food we did have was very bland, not worth the cost!

The Tasting Room is a must do experience! My friend and I had an attentive and charming waiter - I think his name is Doug - who was a delight. The place was pretty quiet (post spring break -April 30th) so we had a mellow dinner. At other times of the year the atmosphere can be pretty rambunctious, but fun. I love the menu, the wine list, the flight opportunities, even the chef was open to a suggestion I made about adding cinnamon to the coconut rice. The swordfish was fabulous. It always is a pleasure to be in the Tasting Room.
