I brought a small group to the Tasting Room at City Center for a business lunch. The staff was so well prepared and considerate of our needing a quiet table so we could talk. I couldn't have asked for better service and the food presentation was wonderful. My guests loved it too.

I am writing this review, not just based on the service but the all around experience. I had made reservations for Friday night 10-17-14, hoping for a quiet night with my date. We made it to TTR a few minutes late due to parking issues, not blaming TTR. The hostess was very inviting and seated us immediately, even though we were late. But our waiter didn't seem to think that our table needed attending to at any given moment. Myself and date felt as if we were a bother when asking for wine recommendations, also on any menu options. He made us feel unwelcomed and as if we need not sit in his section. I seriously doubt he checked on us more than 3 times. I would like to guess our time there was about an hour plus.

Our outdoor dining experience for 6 was very enjoyable on the fare alone, but our server was simply outstanding. Her presence and discpline in food service is an obvious byproduct of her martial arts training in which she still pursues. Delightful young lasy, nice change of pace.

My wife and I decided to go to The Tasting Room last Friday night because it was a rare temperate evening in Houston (low humidity, low 70 degree temperature) and we wanted to eat somewhere that had outdoor seating and really good food - a combination surprisingly difficult to find in Houston. We went early, and got a table on the terrace that had a nice breeze. Our waitress came over immediately and greeted us, and we were never without her friendly, attuned service for the next two hours. She helped us pair a lovely Sancerre with a dozen raw oysters, grilled flatbread with hummus and rosemary, spinach salad and beautifully rare lamb kebabs. On of the overall nicest dining experiences we've had in months!

Went here for happy hour and dinner for a birthday. Noise was so loud inside that we could not talk across the table. Could barely hear person sitting next to you. Food was okay but don't come expecting to eat dinner. More appetizers than real meals. Wines were a little expensive but expected that. They also try to upsell their more expensive wines. Not what we expected!

Arrived at 6 and got several wines and an appetizer (hummus). Wine list was nice and all wines were very good. Only so much you can do with hummus. The evening menu seemed pretty modest with an emphasis on being artsy. The options were not inspiring to me. I've had great group events here before with excellent finger foods, but this time I wasn't adventurous with the menu. No risk - no reward. Ambience is a bit stark. While I think of other nearby places as having one or more points of excellence, nothing disappointed here but nothing was outstanding either. I would recommend you as a wine bar, but not as a restaurant.

It was very warm in the restaurant, but the food was excellent. The courses initially came out way too fast. In fact, we had so many plates on the table at one point they didn't all fit, but we asked them to slow down and they did. The place wasn't packed so I wasn't sure why they were rushing us.

Usually go here for girls brunch or relaxed get together but this time, I went with my husband hoping for a great dining experience. First the A/C was supposedly out in the back of the restaurant so everyone was forced to sit on top of each other in the front. Our waiter who said he's only been there a couple of weeks basically had a negative comment to say about what WE wanted to order. Told my husband not to get the sausage and pepper cast iron and for me not to order the artichokes. I've never been so scared to order something in my life!! Awful experience... Will not be back!

I attended the restaurant in a group of 7 to enjoy the Houston food month menu - the food was great as well as the wine. However, the average time between courses was 45 MINUTES!!!! We were starving for the better part of our 3 hour visit, completely unnecessary and left a sour taste in my mouth which is unfortunate as our table spent upwards of $400 on our visit.

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner! We took advantage of the Houston Restaurant Weeks menu and we were not disappointed. The spicy meatball starter, house salad, and grilled shrimp were just delicious. We finished with the olive oil cake and cheesecake. Of course, we enjoyed some lovely wine as well. The Tasting Room has a new menu overall , and we're eager to return to try a few more items. Esther's friendly service made dining on the patio such a pleasure!

The food and service were great. The chicken tacos and white bean soup were delicious. Our waiter was very pleasant. Sadly, there was a drunk, obscene young lady at a large table near to ours. She was cursing, yelling, etc. I think management should have said something since many dinners asked to be moved if there food had not been ordered or delivered. Unfortunately, we were eating when she arrived.

I really enjoyed dining at The Tasting Room, but we were seated at the first table and although the music was good, it was way too loud. It was hard to have a conversation with my friends. I would definitely go back, but I would select a different table. The wine was outstanding plus it does not hurt that I have a friend who is a member with a Wine Locker. A great time was had by all!

There is no place to dine here! The smokers at the outside tables ruin your dinner in a flash. Indoors, there is loud music not worth hearing. Sans music, the interior space is unimaginative, cold and the acoustics are awful - you cannot hear yourself think, let alone hear the person next to you. The food is wonderful. The cheeses are amazing and well-chosen. The wine list exhibits depth and variety. I tasted some wines that I've never had before, nor could I find them anywhere else. Impressive wine and food. Impeccable service. The atmosphere, however, ruins the whole experience. At their exorbitant prices, you expect linen on the tables at the very least. Too loud. Too smoky. Too mediocre a dining theatre. Too bad.

Have tried most of the food and it is always very good. Make sure you ask about their specialties of the evening (day) and any "special" regular items not listed on the menu. Wait staff is always friendly. They tend to remember you and you feel like you are at a higher scale local neighborhood hang-out. I do not drink, but my husband enjoys red wines. They seem to have an excellent selection and are very knowledgeable. The lighting is not good in some areas, so that is about the only negative. Overall, good food (not regular restaurant style), more like high quality appetizers and shared dishes as main course. Great location because you get the energy of the area from being in City Centre (Memorial area).
