  • "I'd heard some mixed reviews about this place but our experience was phenominal. We were greeted by a very friendly hostess and shortly escorted to our table. Service was attentive.....and then came the food. Best polenta I've ever had, and my family is Italian. Creamy, rich and the tomato compote was sweet and textured perfectly. Short rib hash was tender through-and-through which went with the perfectly poached egg. Cocktails were crisp and classic and the perfect pairing. Tough to get a table at times but would be worth a wait. Ready to go back and try some other menu items."

  • "The first time I came with a larger group and the food was amazing despite the group size and serving sizes. The kitchen delivered again this time, though a couple of the dishes could have been better. The beets were over-cooked and the roasted chicken was tasty but not quite roasted - it lacked that crispy outside that roasted chicken can and should have. However, the radicchio salad was amazing, so was the steak, and the burger somehow moved our vegetarian friend to the dark side that evening. So this kitchen still delivers really good food in what I consider to be a very romantic setting."

  • "Expected a lot based on recommendations of knowledgeable people. We had an inedible radicchio salad, so bitter as to be offensive, and scallops that were over cooked. The chicken was fine, but massively overpriced. The service was inattentive, although the table next to us ordering bottle after bottle of expensive wine got lots of attention."

  • "How can you have a restaurant in Venice that barely offers any gluten free options? Throw on top the fact that they don't share their wi-FI (again, Venice, CA in the year 2014) coupled with super slow service and a confused kitchen that couldn't manage to bring out our sides till well after we were done with the meal and I doubt I will ever return. Regardless how good the French toast is."

I just moved from Dallas to Venice where I used to have chicken and waffles almost every weekend for brunch (my splurge for the week), so I have a VERY discerning palate when it comes to this dish and Tasting Kitchen nailed it! Everything from the side of gravy to the perfectly fried chicken. AMAZING!"

  • "Had truly memorable meal here. 6 in group - all raved about their food. Great Belgian draft beer to start while we waited for companions to arrive. They had mixed specialty drinks which they said were top notch. Seated on time at lovely table by the window so noise level was perfect. Daughter is gluten intolerant but there were several entrees for her to choose from - she had fish, two of us had hangar steak (we agreed best we've tasted in the LA area), another said pasta delicious, also shared divine mussels, amazing scallops appetizers, few sides, and some good desserts. Wine corkage a bit expensive ($30) but we like to bring our own. Would have enjoyed trying chef menu but 2 in party had dietary restrictions - oh well- we'll be back."

  • "Had Lunch there on the weekend. Seated upstairs where it is very laid back and chill. Recommend the burger for lunch although it did get messy with the egg that they put in there. Good drink menu. Only thing that was a pain was parking."

  • "After a disappointing brunch visit, I took my husband to The Tasting Kitchen for a second try. It was worth it! We had a great meal - mussels and scallops as appetizers - so delicious. Pasta with sausage and the hanger steak for main courses. We both enjoyed the food and the table. I would definitely go back again."

  • "I really love this restaurant. I have been before and think the ambiance, menu and food are outstanding. It was very unfortunate that this past weekend our waitress was very rude. At one point she actually laughed in my face when I asked her a simple question about starters. I was so taken aback by her unfriendly attitude that I had trouble focusing on my order. I feel for such an expensive restaurant, the wait staff should be very friendly and happily answer questions about ANYTHING....no matter how simple they may be. No matter how good the food is, I cannot recommend this restaurant to any of my friends or business associates."

  • "The food was overpriced and sub par. The bun they served the burger on was all wrong to begin with and it was stail; it made eating the burger very difficult. There was no complexity to the dishes. The charcuterie was sloppy and poorly put together. All of the cheeses were too similar in flavor and style. We did have scallops and they were cooked perfectly but it was $22 for two scallops with pesto and a couple ounces of beans. The fries were nice but they served them with an oddly bland aioli; it tasted like mayo with olive oil. I did not enjoy it with the fries. Overall I say it was not good and it's not likely that I will return."

Although the dishes are very complex, the ingredients are fresh and the blends produce absolutely symphonies of flavor!   • "Our first impression of The Tasting Kitchen was that the restaurant was snooty and we would have to put up with pompous service if we were ever to eat there. But this was before we indeed at there. You see, the restaurant has a long waiting list and it's hard to get a table as a walk-in for a reason: the food is phenomenal and one of the best values for the quality we've ever tried. Our waitress was spot on with every recommendation, including a wine pairing and dessert. The service was swift and elegant, and the entrees were artfully presented. I will definitely be returning on our next special occasion,"

  • "Our party of six were promptly seated and acknowledged quickly. We shared many of the small plates as starters. Amazing mussels with fennel, asparagus-truffle honey, house speciality of chicken wings apple cider and flax seeds, scallops. Could make a nice meal with their starters. Especially enjoyed the gigli pasta. Rigatoni not as good. Entrees included the Halibut with proseco butter,english peas, and caviar. Wonderful dish. Others had the coho salmon and hanger steak; although Halibut shined. Excellent cocktail, especially the Valkerie and extensive Wine list. Service very efficient and helpful as to food and wine. Deserts also very good."

  • "Over-all love Tasting Kitchen -- the service was excellent, and the vibe is very "cool" and comfortable. Cheese plates are amazing -- let your server make the selection unless you know exactly what you want. Bread & butter is actually a "side" item and worth it...amazing. Veggie sides are great, chicken was only OK, but bread salad that accompanied it was great. Cocktails are excellent too."

  • "A great spot in Venice that has a nice downstairs atrium and upstairs seating area. I went for brunch and had a hard time deciding on what to order. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and helpful in answering any questions on the menu. We decided the fried oyster eggs, short rib hash and scarmosa sandwich with a fried egg and everyone loved their food. The sticky bun with caramelized bacon is a must try! I would definitely come back again."

  • "Charcuterie, Wings(with apple cider and flax seeds, Artichoke salad as appetizers. Salad with shaved aritichokes and light green godess dressing excellent as were Wings. Proscuitto a little dry, but gnocco fritto delicious. Did not have that nite any burrata for gnocco. Pasta's excellent. We had gigli with rapuni pesto and rigatoni with octopus. All fresh and made on site. Entrees were Sea Salted Branzino and Halibut with prosecco butter, caviar, and english peas. Very light and fresh. Good cocktails. Enjoyed the Valkyrie and Ola Tom Fizz"

  • "We were a group of 4 business associates and were tired and just wanted to enjoy each others company and iddn't want to think - our waitress said - no problem - we'll set you up with the tasting menu and you'll be covered. It was awesome - everyone got what they wanted. the deserts were beyond amazing so I am glad they were very small portions. It is a healthy place to eat with excellent food and celebratory ambience. The wine is delicious. "

  • "Every dish was faultless as was the service. The chef elected to serve the crudo, chicory salad, fusilli, halibut and hangar steak for our 5-course tasting menu. The fusilli and chicory salad didn't wow us as much as the others - more a reflection of how superlative they were as well as what carnivores we are. The trio of chocolate: panna cotta, touillé and hazelnut cookies was the perfect ending. We elected to match wines by the glass with each course and the recommendations were as sublime as the food. Of course we will be back!"

  • "We started w/ great bread and $10 balsamic. We ordered and twice the waiter came back saying they were out of our items, 8:30. The beet salad was dull and I settled on wings which were boring - only are 1. My friends chicken was dry and when I was told they were out of the pork chop - the waiter just stood there waiting til I figured out a pasta without any help ( it was good, but not spectacular) - the waiter ended up sitting with two girls while we wanted to get him over to order dessert and go (pretty noisy) - the dessert was good, but tiny. Overall more hype than quality. I was really up for a good experience, but the emperor has no clothes, but lots of attitude."

  • "Food is wonderful - although the coffee is not good! Service was really slow and inattentive. I actually never received my diet coke! As there were four of us dining we each received our entree at a different time with about 5 to 8 minutes between the arrival of each of our orders. The coffee is too strong - and there is no sugar substitute -- only small cubes of sugar. And, since the coffee is served in small tea cup - one finishes the coffee quickly - but, no servers to be found to offer refills. The mimosas arrive in the smallest glass ever -- not worth the money! I know this place is named the Tasting Table - but should be named the Tasting Mimosa."

  • "I ate brunch here for the first time this weekend, and man was it soooo good. We ordered a spread of food - biscuits, bacon, pepper quiche, croque madame, biscuits and gray with sausage, eggs in a basket - and ALL of it was delicious. Also, when my 6 year old wanted something that wasn't on the menu - an egg over easy with a side of toast, they happily made it for him."

  • "I'd been looking forward to visiting this restaurant, my partner liked the food - I wasn't so thrilled. We went for the tasting menu which was $60 pp for 3 courses. To be fair, when asked if there was anything we didn't eat, I didn't think to mention rabbit which I wasn't keen on eating at anytime. My favorite was the Amuse Bouche. Perhaps the rabbit was not a great start...The alternate was tuna and artichoke. The next course included a fish which was lovely and a Pasta dish which again was good but again just a little small in it's portion size. The dessert was one that we had to share and 2 petit fours. I would go back for the atmosphere but not do the tasting menu. I guess with any tasting menu, you accept that you take your chances."
