  • "We had a fabulous experience at The Cook and The Tailor. The food is all fresh, well chosen and mostly locally produced. There is a blackboard in the back that lists the sources. I was intrigued to eat fava beans which I know are not in season yet. Our waitress went to the cook and gave me the website where they buy organic dried vegetables. The service was outstanding, the staff works as a team. We enjoyed everything on our plate..scallops, pork cheeks, lamb, paella and dessert. The food is not straight up boring so those that enjoy an Outback Steakhouse will not understand or appreciate the care that goes into every dish. If I lived closer I would come every week because the menu has many choices and we had a hard time picking."

  • "My wife and I arrived a few minutes early, we were waited upon immediately at the bar and our table was ready promptly. The server was courteous, knowledgeable and also unobtrusive during our meal. We both had excellent meals, everything was fresh and prepared to order. It was our second time here and we will definitely be going back again!"

  • "I love this place. It's quirky menu and farm to table fresh ingredients is unique for the area. I think it rivals trendy cities and should be experienced even if you have to drive a little out of your way. We were given tiny samples of the chef's new ideas and were sewn into his charm. I'd try anything the chef liked to dream up and the next time I'm even close to the area, I'll be back."

  • "I took my boyfriend here for his birthday and the restaurant was amazing in accomodating my request to have a candle put on his dessert. Also, from the moment we walked in the hostess and waitstaff all wished him a happy birthday. The great service aside, the wine list was extensive and the food was amazing. We had the flat iron steak with foie gras butter and the duck ragout. For dessert we went with the eclair. If we are ever up in Utica again we will be sure to stop by."

When we made our server aware, she new exactly what we needed and tailored (no pun intended) our meals to meet the criteria. They could not have been more accommodating. It was delicious! I have tried things I never NEVER thought I would eat because I know and trust that thee chefs could make SPAM taste amazing. Seriously, I ate Venison Tartare and could have licked the plate. But its a little fancy for plate-licking, so didn't."

  • "Been to this restaurant several times before and each time had an exceptional dining experience, great food, great service ... but this time was disappointing, primarily for the entrée. Interesting menu but in comparison to the past, mediocre in choices. We opted for the Filet and Delmonico steaks. The appetizers were very good, sides very good, the desert exceptional but the entrée ... Filet was very overcooked (almost inedible), Delmonico was very undercooked. The server recognized the shortcomings immediately and offered replacements. We did not accept. We are hoping this culinary snafu is an isolated incident, merely a bad night for the chef because we really enjoy the restaurant. But if the food continues not to be good well ..."

Best veggies and greens around. It's a bit too dark in there and not enough vegetarian dishes to choose from, but otherwise a fantastic spot that hopefully will be around a good long time."

It'll feel like you were transported to Asheville or even Brooklyn. The food is top notch and the wine list is pretty damn special. If you want to reserve a weekend dinner, I suggest doing so a week or two in advance. It'll be worth the wait."

We went with two other couples for a night out, we had an early reservation so we were seated upon arrival in a cozy table near the rear of the restaurant which was perfect. All of those in attendance enjoyed their meals and would definitely return again! My husband and I both cook and entertain ALOT so we appreciate good, fresh, local food when we have it and that's what we always get at Tailor and the Cook!"
