The Table Restaurant at the H HotelA+45th Anniversary DinnerEverything exceeded our hopes and expectations. The food was beyond description. It was better than we had hoped for. The only time we have had steak that was so indescribably tender was at a restaurant in TX that was hailed as the best steak house in the state. I would have liked more lobster in the lobster mac and cheese; however, I'm from Maine so I can never get enough lobster!!
The service was superb. We had 2 waiters who were readily available; yet were so unobtrusive that we hardly knew they were there. They were consistently warm and friendly. They even gave us dessert at no charge because of our special occasion, and took time to chat occasionally. Among chains and "factory food" was listed Table. We didn't realize what a gem had been placed in the middle of Midland. Chef Peter apparently left Michigan as a teen an went to France for culinary training. Everything from bread to salad to the incredible flavors in the entrees show he must have been a top student! Too many wonderful details for here, but everything was done with excellence, creativity, and grace. I wish it was fewer than two hours each way, but I am so tempted to come back just for dinner! The restaurant is beautifully and elegantly adorned with tables far enough from eachother so that we are not part of other tables' conversations. The chairs are velvet armchairs, beautliful and comfortable. And the food was delicious. Fois gras brulee' for an appetiser and smoked spaghetti for an entree. I chose the lamb chops for my entree and it was cooked to perfection and tender like butter. Their special chocolate "lava" cake for dessert was delicious. Courses were served nicely spaced and our dinner lasted just over 2.25 hours. Don't come here to rush, but for a romantic night, great business dinner, or celebration, a great restaurant!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGem in MidlandNot being from the Midland area, never would we have thought to find something like Table. We were in town just for the weekend to attend a college graduation at CMU. We were resolved to having to go to a chain restaurant when we asked our gradutate where he would like to go for a nice, and well deserved, dinner following the ceremony. He gave us some options that were all standard fare. They didn't seem to be "nice" Then we just searched..shameless plug to Bing...and found Table. What a find!!! I even had to ask our server, Arian, who was fantastic, how such a place exists in such a small town area. It makes perfect sense once we found and understood the meaning of the area and the name of the restaurant- Table. This was our second visit to your dining room. We enjoyed our first visit and regret the time it took to return. This time was a wonderful experience. I feel you have improved with your chef and all in all a finer experience than our first. I regret that we had to leave for a concert and was unable to enjoy our traditional dessert and pressed coffee. We will plan better the next time and will look forward to our next visit and much sooner than the last. Please give the chef our compliments on a job well done.
