Diner Reviews
  • "Tried Sunday brunch for our anniversary, and it was very nice. Crab eggs benedict were better than Elways, for there are nice chunks of crab, not shreds. The number of guests picked up close to 11AM and was about half full as we left about 11:30. We will probably be back with a large group in coming months. That will be interesting to see how the service is. There seemed to only be one server in the room we were in. She was good, but had to cover many areas, and I had to ask for coffee, not just have it replinished quickly."

  • "We have been going to the Summit for many years and have seen it go through many changes. The "new look" Summit is by far the best to date. Love the new menu, atmosphere & lounge. The service has always been outstanding and still is. We recommend you request Tracy for the ultimate dining experience."

  • "Fantastic Meal....our waiter was attentive and served at a comfortable pace. The room that we were in was in need of updating. Ceiling tiles were stained and the decor was cheap and in need of dusting. Other areas of the restaurant may have looked better. Great live music. This was our first time here."

  • "I make better food at home. Very average at best at high end prices. Not returning. Were it not for service and ambiance I would rate it a 1 or 2"

  • "I have visited The Summit Steakhouse two times this week for lunch and found everything just tops....food, service and surroundings."

  • "My entree of Shrimp Scampi, a mixture of grilled shrimp and various pieces of vegetables over linguine, was bland and overcooked. My wife's entree of Tilipia was pretty good, according to her. Perhaps the meat dishes are outstanding."

  • "You can't beat The Summit for their classy atmosphere and melt-in-your-mouth fillet mignon! We celebrated a friend's birthday on a Sunday evening and the waitress was extremely kind and friendly, the food outstanding. Among the four of us, we had the tuna ahi, lamb and fillet mignon, all cooked exactly to order and seasoned well. We've visited The Summit a number of times and hope to be back for many more delicious dinners!"

  • "We did a last minute business dinner for 3, and our OpenTable reservation was ready and waiting. I ate at this restaurant on a visit 2 years ago, and I thought it couldn't be better. I was wrong! This visit was amazing. The red Zinfandel was the perfect touch for the expertly prepared filet steaks we ordered. I wish we'd had room for dessert, but the portions for the appetizers, mains, and sides were plenty. This was a totally satisfying dinner experience. Our server, Paul H. was very helpful in explaining the menu and specials, and was most attentive throughout the evening. Of course, the food far exceeded even the glowing advanced billing I gave it before we arrived."

  • "Steaks and Salmon were good...vegetables and sides were very disappointing...seems for restaurant week they fell off my list of fav picks.....sad"

  • "My $50 'T-Bone' had only bone fragments; TERRIBLE cut of meat. The potatoes were cold. Our table of four was seated with two other large tables of at least twenty...so we had bad service. will NEVER go back."

  • "My husband and I have eaten at "The Summit" for both our birthdays in the past few months. Both times the food was excellent, the ambience romantic and cozy, and the service wonderful! We will definitely be returning in the future!"

  • "The steaks are very good, not great, but the accompaniments are first rate. We had the strip steak and the Alaskan King Salmon, along with a house salad and French Onion Soup. The French Onion soup is as good as I've had anywhere with lots of gooey cheese on top. The salad is a nice mix of greens, without the usual iceberg lettuce found in a house salad. The service was also excellent and friendly. We will be back."

  • "The ambience was a 10, warm and elegant. I am a good cook so when I go out it's mainly to eat something that I don't cook myself and for the service. The hostess, Materdee and waitress were very attentive. We I would highly recommend this restaurant to our friends. no is level was a 10. was excellent my daughter and I could hold a very good conversation. We could tell that others were holding a conversation also with very little outside noise"

  • "We have never dined at this restaurant before and wonder if the lack luster food was due to the fact that it was restaurant week and mobbed."

  • "One of the best steaks in Denver. Wish I could prepare then like that at home. Nice piano bar. We never feel rushed."

  • "Our steaks & prime rib were excellent & cooked to perfect order. The servings were generous and waitstaff attentive. Desserts were nothing special, but OK. Twice-cooked potato was only baked with cheese on top, not really baked twice as I know it. Very enjoyable experience overall."

  • "I went there because I live close by and I always wanted to try it. I have not been since I was a kid and I was interested. The food was delicious and very tender. The Prime Rib just melted in my mouth. When I got there I don't know what happened but we were not greeted by our waiter for over 10 minutes. I went to the bathroom and there was no one at the front desk either to notify. After I got out of the bathroom I spoke to the lady at the front desk (she was there then) and asked her if they had forgot about us. She got right on it and I heard her yelling at people in the back about who was on the floor. They said it was a shift change... Like I said after that everything was great. I appreciate them boxing up our desert too."

  • "We wanted to take a cousin and spouse out for dinner and chose Summit Steakhouse during Restaurant Weeks. Our food was superb! The half price wine special was appreciated. And our entire evening was great! Only problem we had was that the restaurant was SO BUSY we didn't get a table for four and had to sit at a table for 6. We made it work and were impressed at how many other people knew what a great restaurant it is."

  • "Once again, I had a great meal and enjoyed great service! Even though it was the beginning of Restaurant Week and the place was packed, the server was friendly and attentive."

  • "I first heard about Summit Steakhouse during an event downtown to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. That evening I won the silent auction for 2 $25.00 gift certificates to your restaurant. Unfortunatly I misplaced those gift certificates but was thrilled to see Summit Steakhouse on the 5280 list. My nephews live with Cystic Fibrosis and I am happy to support any business that would support the CF foundation . When we arrived several groups were waiting for tables. We had reservations so our wait was only about 10 minutes, not bad for such a busy night. The staff was nice and very busy. The prime rib was amazing, as was our waitress. We will be back for sure."

  • "Seated promptly for our 6:15 reservation during Restaurant Week. Hostess forgot the wine list...even through the restaurant week special included a discounted price on a bottle of wine. Service was prompt & pleasantly paced, not rushed. Strip steak cooked med well as requested, but had an unusual "grainy" texture -- not the best promo for a steakhouse. Prime Rib was excellent even though a bit rarer than requested. Sauteed veggies were nicely done. Sweet potatoes fries were a bit soggy. Had to request our surplus wine be corked and bagged to take home. We might return for brunch or prime rib and salads, but probably not for steak. Pleasant grown-up ambiance, piano-bar, and we could converse without screaming which is always a plus."

  • "Great food. Had Chateaubriand for 2. Excellent. A bottle of Rodney Strong Cab and a nice dessert topped off a special evening for my wife and me."

  • "so, went on Restaurant Week. Got sat next to the kitchen door.and the place was packed. This should preface my review. Haha. To say that they specialize in prime rib, which they have posted all over the place, would be a stretch. I ordered the prime rib during restaurant week, it was 10 ounces. Less than a Queen cut that they originally serve. I was not impressed by the flavor at all. Date had the chicken Oscar. She loved it. Twice baked potato, less than impressed. Vegetables, over cooked. Wine list, not bad. Service, slow. Waiter, unenthusiastic. Price for food, overpriced. Good ambience but I don't think I'll be returning. There a lot better places to get prime rib in Denver. Didn't see what the rave was all about for this restaurant."

  • "Food was great and service was wonderful and always there just when you needed them. The restaurant was packed so it made the place loud but we still enjoyed ourselves and would come back again. Hadn't been to this restaurant in years but the food was still great."

  • "Wow...took my fiance for valentine dinner. It was our 1st visit to the restaurant. No valet parking but plenty of spaces. I had the best appetizer called Seafood Boatit is not even on the menu. Excellent steaks and dessert. Great place to eat"

  • "Ambiance is very good. Meal was very good. Cost a little high. Service had a bad night (SLOW) with many Valentine's Day diners. I would definitely try this restaurant again on a normal Friday night."

  • "Enjoyed dinner very much. Restaurant was busy but the staff did a good job of managing the crowd. Back room was nice and quiet, but if you wanted more activity the bar area looked like it was hopping."

  • "Overall the food was very good. My boyfriend and I went on Valentines day and the dim lit, private and romantic ambience was highly satisfying. However, even though I understand it was a holiday and expected to be busy, the staff did not work well under preasure. The cooks from the back continously brought out wrong plates and could not figure out which table the food was supposed to go to. It also took over an hour and a half for us to get our dinner. Waitresses spilt plates next to our table and seemed confused. I'm sure on an ordinary night this restaurant would be nice but not a place I would recommend for quality service if you anticipate a busy night."

  • "It's a great way your spoil your mom! It was Mom's 80th bday, she didn't want a big to-do. All she wanted was a crab cake and a piece of cow. The Summit Delivered! We loved the crab cake and our filet mignons were yummy! I'm not waiting for a special occasion to go back! Our server, was very attentive and thoughtful to my Mom. She made great suggestions and brought a little bcake w a candle for her! Thank You, Summit!"

  • "I've had dinner at The Summit several times and I haven't yet been disappointed with a meal. The quality has always been top notch and the service very good. Our waiter also had a large group to serve, so he really hopping. Even though I could tell from a distance he was stressed, he was always pleasant when he reached my table. People with those skills truly earn their tips."

  • "I had the Filet Salad, my wife had the roasted chicken. Both were very good, we also shared the Rocky Mountain Oysters which were tender and tasty. Our waiter, Kevin, was very attentive. Overall, it was a very good experience."

  • "My husband and I like this restaurant and have taken many guests there during the past two years. Last Friday night was not their best. I was very disappointed with my shrimp entree (no flavor and not at all crisp), and my mashed potatoes were lukewarm (appeared to have been sitting out for a while before being served). My husband and our guests seemed to enjoy their meals, so maybe I was just jinxed. Will go back to the restaurant but hope this was just an off night, and the experience won't be repeated."

  • "We go there every Xmas eve. We realize it's a busy time and usually the ambience is quite good and romantic. This time we were seated next to a very noisy group of people. they were having a good time, but we couldn't hear ourselves talk."

  • "We have enjoyed our visit two years in a row for our Christmas Dinner. The ambience of the Summit along with the food is well worth the cost of our family of four. Our daughters enjoy having that one time a year very special meal where they can pick anything they want."

  • "Loved the atmosphere for Christmas Eve. I know it was busy but service was a little iffy. The food was ok but not very warm. I think it would have been nice to have had a better booth as I asked for instead of being by a cold window, but even that I just used my jacket. Disappointed in the food for the price. Maybe another time would be better."
