From the moment we entered, we received personal attention, and our fabulous server, Alice, even took the time to explain the history of the place (as well as of the 1889 Saloon, both of which are beautiful in the "old West/cowboy way"). The ceasar salad was delicious, the shrimp cocktail and baked potato were just what we wanted, and the 16 oz. NY strip steak, according to my "other half," was perfection. He savored every bite (as well as, later, the pecan pie). We appreciated that Alice took the time to explain the "choice" cuts of meat, guiding us to the restaurant's finest selections. It took less then thirty seconds till we were shown to a booth. Alice was our server and she was very helpful in recommending a wine to go with my 18 ounce Prime Rib. The recommendation was very good and I enjoyed two glasses with dinner. Alice checked with us to see if my wife's 20 ounce Porterhouse and my Prime Rib were prepared as requested. They were cooked perfectly. She continued to see if we needed anything else during dinner. History surrounds you at the Stockyards Resturant as does the quite atmosphere. One thing both my wife and I wish we had been warned of was the horseradish in the shrimp cocktail sauce, it was very strong. And each time the experience could hardly be improved. The staff is professional but warm and courteous. Above all the staff is interested in accommodating the customer's needs and wishes. Each time I had the rib-eye steak, my favorite steak. And each time it was cooked to perfection and the meat quite flavorful. You know your steak is going to be good when they don't offer any sauces when your food arrives - the steak is so perfectly made that it doesn't need anything. If I had any criticisms, it would be that the whiskey and scotch selection is somewhat unimpressive. Perhaps I'm a bit of a whiskey/bourbon/scotch snob, but most of the choices were pretty basic. That small detail aside, it was a fantastic experience. This place is all about the food after all, and they do that really well. We were really happy with the choice, cooked and seasoned to perfection! Service was really good, very comfortable seating and atmosphere. The Bar was really cool as well. We will definitely make this part of our spring training ritual moving forward. They also accept the Passport card, which is great because you get your 2nd meal complimentary. We were looking for a good restaurant to enjoy our night before flying off , and found it.
Service was very good, the muffins and cornbread were tummy, fresh veggies and dip delicious, and the meats were tasty and prepared well. My friend had the elk and enjoyed it, my filet was as expected, a good but not spectacular dish.

Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and gave us just the right amount of attention. My husband ordered the 18 oz. Prime Rib which was cooked to perfection and served with a delicious au jus. I had the 8 oz. filet which was also cooked perfectly. I didn't care for the potato dish I ordered, but that was just a personal preference. We both had the chicken rice soup which was creamy and delicious. All the meals come with a basket of fresh bicuits and corn muffins. Both were very good. We were pleasantly surprised that they were busy, even though we were early. Our server, Matthew, was attentive and helpful. There is a lot of AZ history there, but it has a well-cared-for vibe. While it is a steak house, there were other options. We enjoyed it immensely! By the way, who serves crudities before dinner these days? It was a nice touch.
