Diner Reviews
  • "We had a great dining experience here. This was our first time, but have talked about coming here for years! Service was excellent and the food was delicious. Lots of garlic, but not in an overpowering way. It's too bad the frozen dessert maker broke before all of us got garlic ice cream. Luckily our son got his birthday scoop 1st so we could all share. A place I am already planning on going back to!"

  • "I wasn't too crazy about garlic until I tried the Stinking Rose. I ordered the bone in rib eye and my mom ordered the pasta with chicken and pine nuts. Both were delicious but I would come back for the pasta."

  • "An overrated steak restaurant for tourists. Meal was fine, but nothing special. Kitschy atmosphere. Very good service."

  • "We went to The Stinking Rose to celebrate my daughter's 18th birthday. We were a large group of 12. At the manager's suggestion, I created a custom menu from their menu in order to control the cost and we brought our own b-day cake. It worked out quite well. The food was delicious and the service was fast and friendly. Everyone had a great time."

  • "This was my first time and came as a recommendation. I loved it! The Garlic fries were to die for! The most garlic-tasting dish was the ice cream, which I actually was not crazy about. I wouldnt recommend eat here before going to an event or the movies...because will will stink up the place with your breath! Loved it! I plan to go back."

  • "Overall I felt that the dining and service was alright -- not THE best but was overall satisfactory! What I did enjoy the most, however, was the fun ambiance. I love the decor displayed throughout the different sections of the room. It was very fun to sit in a canopy and feel like I'm taking a trip through Saudi Arabia. It was my first time there, along with my family members, and we both were really thrilled by the atmosphere of it all."

  • "Went to The Stinking Rose at 5pm. for the first time, before our Saban Theater evening. Just the 2 of us to dine and talk. I called the Manager, Paul, the night before to ask if we could leave our cars in their lot while we went to the theater. The answer was yes and for me to please introduce myself to Paul. Met Paul and he was most gracious. We were seated promptly and our waiter, Steve, was a delight. Just the right amount of chat with our ordering and whenever we needed him. The atmosphere is kind of cozy and very friendly. Our food was terrific. Steve was able to accommodate our every request. Prices were reasonable. The restaurant is located 1/2 block from the Saban Theater, within easy walking distance."

  • "I've been to this restaurant now two times. Both times, the food quality, as well as the service, have been consistent. However, I still can't wrap my head around the prices for the meals. The drink prices are relatively inexpensive, but I'm beginning to think that the appeal of it being a garlic restaurant and that it's also situated in Bev. Hills, is the reason why the menu prices are up there. Nevertheless, it's a place to try when you're either going for a date (with someone you're probably already comfortable with.... unless you don't mind driving them away with your awesome breath afterwards), or with out of town guests. I docked a star in ambience because the place really need an overall clean and/or an upgrade (esp their bathrooms)."

  • "This place is overly rated! Food was not good. Service was worse. They made me wait over half an hour after my reservation. I saw people who came in after me get seated before me. I complained and they sat me right away. As I walked to my table, there were soany available tables open. The waiter just wanted me to hurry up and order. He didn't recommend anything. Felt like an upscale McDonald's. I think service at In n Out Budger is 100x better."

  • "I loved that they seated us right away even tho we were a few minutes early and others were waiting in the lobby. I made a comment while making my reservation that it"

  • "If you love garlic, you will love the Stinking Rose! Been to both the one in San Francisco and now Beverly Hills, was not disappointed. Was hesitant to try the garlic ice cream, but was pleasantly surprised. Definitely worth trying!"

  • "I surprised my boyfriend with this place because he never heard of the restaurant. Wen we arrived, the hosts weren't sure where our table was so we literally walked around the restaurant for 5 minutes. After being showed the fourth unavailable table I wanted to leave. I told the gentleman I worked for a restaurant and this is unacceptable so I would wait for him by the desk until they figured it out. It took 15 min for our server to address us at our table, but he was nice. The food was amazing, we started with the calamari and it was by r the best from any restaurant. It was my first time having the prime rib (I normally have the chicken) and it was perfect! My boyfriend love the food as well."

  • "From the moment we drove up, the experience was special. Everyone was extremely helpful and nice. And the food was WOW. It's very easy to go overboard with the Bagna Calda, so pace yourself. Had the Garlic fish and chips and was great. Can't wait to go again."

  • "We added this meal to a day when we had gone to a theatre matinee. We were there with friends and able to continue our awesome day. We already know we love the food, but our waiter was fun and all the staff (including the parking valets) were friendly and helpful."

  • "In 2004 I visited LA with my family and went to The Stinking Rose and it was amazing. A week ago I was in the city again and I was eager to check if the restaurant was as good as I recalled, or if I had idealised it over the years. It was as great as ten years ago. The decoration is fun, the concept of the restaurant is amazing (for us, garlic lovers) and everything was just perfect. If I visit the city again in two, five or ten years I will continue to go dining to The Stinking Rose."

  • "I celebrated my birthday there recently. I had heard about the place and had been wanting to go there for some time. I finally made it and the place did not disappoint. The food was great, and they accommodated my big group (20) people. I love how easy it was to make my reservation online and edit it when I had to add more people to the reservation. They called to confirm a day before. Everything was ready for us when we got there and got seated fairly quickly. The ambiance is great. Ii would definitely recommend the place and I will definitely go there again."

  • "Great food, service, and decor. If you LOVE garlic this is the place for you. The dinner rolls, my Zuppa Di Pesce, the prawns with pasta, and the garlic ice cream with caramel mole were all delicious. Can't wait to go back!"

  • "Our waiter, Stephen from MA, was wonderful and attentive. In addition, the food was marvelous. Speaking personally, my petite filet was one of the best pieces of meat I've had in recent memory. I substituted the steamed veggies for the creamed spinach, and they were wonderful. Garlic mashed potatoes were also good, but they weren't memorable for any reason. The others at the table ordered the short ribs and pork chops, and were very satisfied with those."

  • "Just love this place. The food is consistently wonderful. Service was excellent. Our server was attentive, made suggestions for us. The bussers help make the service so smooth. It's like they're watching from some corner and are there at the ready with extra napkins, or wipes or drinks. We sat down at 6:15 and didn't leave till after 8. From Bagna Calda to coffee and dessert ... we're coming back again for sure. AND SOON."

  • "Dined at The Stinking Rose before a show at the Saban. My steak was so average...tasted like a steak I would get at The Hometown Buffet. When I told my waiter (who took a very long time to ask about our food) about my displeasure with the steak, he was defensive and rude. Do not go!"

  • "Upon arriving at restaraunt we were told that we have to wait 45 Min for a table even though we had a reservation. However we were seated 10 min later instead with no apology. Food was slightly above average."
    Dined on 3/15/2014
  • "Make plans to not see anyone the day after you eat here, because you will have more garlic in one meal than you probably had all week. The food is good, so long as you like garlic. My biggest problem with the restaurant was the reservation system. I made reservations for the restaurant, but when I got there I still had to wait 15 minutes in a line just to see the host and then another 15 minutes for my table. I heard of people who didn't have reservations having similar wait times. What is the point of having reservations available if they don't actually reserve your seat?"

  • "It's obvious why they call it the "Stinking Rose". While driving up into the parking lot, the smell of garlic enters your car window. I love garlic, so this was inviting to me. My family of 4 ordered the Bagna Calda, Garlic Roasted Prime Rib, and Garlic Ice Cream. If you love garlic, all three are highly recommended. After trying the Bagna Calda with the garlic bread and the garlic roasted prime rib, I could not taste the garlic in the ice cream. We tried the kustard ice cream as well. After trying the kustard ice cream and then went back to the garlic ice cream, that's when we noticed a strong garlic taste to the ice cream. My only negative statement is the booth. Although it made you feel you were in a gypsy tent, the seating was tight."
