A word from The Stanton Social
Chef/owner Chris Santos has teamed up with Tao owner Richard Wolf, Peter Kane originally of Double Happiness and Happy Ending, and the James Beard 'Best New Restaurant Design' award winning firm AvroKo, to create the newest 'jewel' of Manhattan's Lower East Side.

The design of this three level hot spot tips it's hat to the neighborhood’s garment history and offers diners a culinary odyssey. All menu items are designed for sharing, offering guests a chance to experience multiple dishes and flavors throughout their meal. In addition to its 120 seats, The Stanton Social offers a raw bar, a lounge and the hippest new bar in New York City. Dishes range from $7 - $18 each.

The place ambiance was really good. Food was good but small plates only and very seasoned if you're ok with that also everything is cooked with bacon a little heavy and not very healthy. Not many veggies on menu or healthy options in general. Service was excellent. Great for groups and sharing.

I celebrated my birthday here on Saturday night and everything was absolutely perfect! Service was excellent, our waitress dealt with our large party with ease. Drinks were delicious and every single thing we ordered was SO GOOD. A few notables: Kale caesar salad, french onion soup dumplings, homemade meatballs, kobe beef sliders, fish tacos. We ordered A LOT and every dish was great. The music is loud, yes. But you CAN have a conversation and you can do so while having fun dancing in your seat to the songs they play (hiphop, pop). I definitely recommend this as a fun restaurant that also has great food!!

We have always heard good things and so after a few previous trips to NYC, we went downtown to SS for dinner. There is a full menu great for everyone. There are plenary of vegetarian, meat, fish, and beyond all served in plates to share. There were just two of us and it was a great experience with each dish being wonderfully unique, thoughtful, and a taste not soon forgotten. The entire experience was truly wonderful.

I waited entirely too long to be seated. Although I had a 9:00 reservations I still had to wait for about 30 minutes to be seated. My date and I sat down at 9:30. This was extremely frustrating because I made reservation to avoid waiting around and still ended up waiting. The lady who does the checking in didn't even seem apologetic of the fact that we had to wait 30 minutes past our reservation time.

  • Happy birthday to me!

November 16 my family took me to Stanton Social for a 32nd birthday brunch! We had a great time sharing tapas, enjoying cocktails, and drinking tons of the delicious coffee... That's actually kind of a big deal for coffee drinkers! We tried all different items from the menu our favorites being the Oreo pancakes and the French onion soup dumplings... Seriously delicious. The restaurant is beautiful with multiple floors to enjoy, great backround music and and causal elegant decor. Overall the experience was great, my only complaint was the booth that they sat us at. With having made reservations weeks in advance, they did seat us in a timely manner but shoved us into a small booth that barely fit the five of us...my husband is 6'5 and my brother is 6 '4 and both of them weigh in around 220lbs. When we had mentioned we may be uncomfortable the response back was "we put five people here all the time....you'll be fine"... Not exactly the response you want to hear when your elbow to elbow with the two people sitting next to you and the option of adding a chair is not there. I'd like to be comfortable when dropping $400 on a meal. We really enjoyed the meal, The sharing of plates really helps to drive a fun conversation, we actually really liked the servers even though we had heard the reviews that bad service was to be expected! All in all it was a really nice experience. I would definitely go back to enjoy another meal, perhaps a dinner this time...I'll just put a special request on my reservation not to sit in the booth! Live and learn.

The food is delicious, eight thumbs up. I am amazed a how much flavor they fit into each bite. We tried the red snapper tacos which were out of this world, the Korean Tacos-delish, and the chicken and waffles plate was so fantastic, we had to order another helping. We also tried the kale salad and a few more items that were all equally as wonderful. If you appreciate a wide variety of mouth watering flavors, then this is the place that you need to try. This was my second time back and I will most surely be back again.

This was my second visit to Stanton Social and the food did not disappoint. This time I sat upstairs and it was much nicer than being in the main floor. It gets pretty loud and crowded so I recommend going on the early side if possible. The Greek octopus was amazing as was the kalette salad and the chicken arepa. We had a nice Pinot from Santa Barbara that was a great combo for the diversity of food we ate without a crazy price tag. Attentive service.

Best to order 5/6 items per couple. Everything we had was full of flavor. Red snapper tacos, French onion dumplings, chicken and waffle, cast iron shrimp, mac and cheese. All were very tasty. They bring 2/3 dishes to the table at once. Finished with warm doughnuts dipped in chocolate, caramel, or raspberry sauce. The food has a spice to it but not over the top. The French onion dumplings were excellent. We will return.

My husband and I went to brunch at the Stanton Social with another couple. We deliberately chose to try the restaurant for brunch because we were intrigued by the venue but suspected that the evening crowd would be way too young. It turns out we were probably right - as the crowd was certainly heavily skewed toward 20-somethings (maybe 30-somethings) but sprinkled with a sufficient number of people in different age brackets. That being said - we found the atmosphere to be pleasant - with the table set-up allowing for an unexpected sense of privacy. Brunch is served tapas style and is quite delicious. The Kobe beef sliders were amazing - I could have had several of them. We also loved the pancakes, Mexican tacos, and mac and cheese.

Having a time limit for a dinner reservation is just annoying. Especially when the food is priced so high. The food is very good here, but the attitude of the host/hostess is basically like, "You're lucky you're here, so follow our rules." With so many other options on the LES, it's just not worth it to be treated that way at Stanton Social....no matter how good the sliders are.

Third time here and never disappoints. The menu of 25-30 small plates are varied, some vegetarian friendly, but as always good to great. Onion pierogies with truffle creme fraiche, cheesesteak sliders, butternut squash ravioli, beef and broccoli (shredded beef on 1 x3 in fried rice cake sitting on thin bed of broccoli puree) and 5 others and then dessert including hot chocolate shooters. Energetic and always busy. Excellent service and servers.

The food is incredible and the ambiance is so fun for groups and adventurous foodies. Upon arrival though, the hostesses was very unfriendly and even though I had a reservation I made a month in advance and was so looking forward to trying the Stanton social, I seriously considered leaving and taking my business to one of the other cute neighborhood brunch places in LES. The waitress made up for the hostess and couldn't have been more friendly/helpful but it was hard to get over the initial feeling of judgment and lack of customer service. Highly recommend the food and the ambiance but be prepared with your whole party arriving at the same time so you don't have to linger near the front of the restaurant!

Excellent food, good service is how I would characterize our first dining experience at The Stanton Social. Everything on the menu sounded appetizing. Luckly the small plate concept allowed us to sample numerous dishes although it may take several visits to hit every item on this expansive menu. My favorite dish was the French Onion Dumplings and my wife loved the Chicken Arepas. Our server was very friendly and helpful as we made our selections. We had two issues with the service; first was that the Korean Short Rib tacos were ordered but not delivered and secondly a Philly cheese steak was delivered when we actually ordered the Lobster roll. Both mistakes were taken care of on the bill and neither spoiled our overall impression.

We had a Local Amazon deal so it was a limited tasting menu. Everything was ]good but literally just one bite per person. Service was almost too attentive meaning we didn't even finish taking the last piece when a waiter would take the plate away. What if we wanted to keep the sauce or take time to take the food off the plate? It made the experience feel very rushed - not sure if it's because it was a deal. When we finished the items included, the check came and we were never asked if we wanted anything else. If they had, we would have stayed and ordered more including more bottle service but no one ever asked us. I"m glad I tied the Stanton Social but won't be going back. For those prices, I'll go to a place who wants me to stay.
