The Standard Restaurant & LoungeGreat Find!This was my first time to Standard and using Open Table and the experience was great. I was seated almost immediately even before the official reservation time. The food was superb and my party was seated in the back with a private booth which gave us privacy and made us feel like we were having our own private party. Price was very reasonable and service was fine. $103 per couple w/ tip incl. was a great value. Enjoyed a few beers and wines w/ dinner too. No dessert or coffee, but overall a very good evening and a very good meal. A nice change from the mostly Italian restaurants that are everywhere in the Capital District. Before we made reservations, I searched for a coupon and could not find one. I called the restaurant and they confirmed that you do not offer any coupons or promotions. Otherwise, we had a satisfactory experience.

The service from "Annie" was excellent and very attentive. Food was great. Peppercorn Fillet was awsome as well as the Calimari and Shrimp appetizers... This month I made my usual reservation. As always, I asked for a corner round booth. When we checked in at 6, they said that no corner booths were available. We waited 15 minutes and finished our drinks, as they said one may be ready by then. However, it was not. This was the first time I had a problem with this and I am surprised. Shouldn't they hold a booth for a request instead of hoping one becomes available at the time needed? They offered us one of the round booths in the bar area where a private party was being held. (That was also a little strange). The Mother's Day brunch however, did not meet my expectations. We had 1:00 reservations and by then alot of the food had been picked over. Not the mention the price. It was just a tad bit over priced for what we got. Service was great, table was ready when requested. Burgers weren't done as requested. Medium well came out very red in the middle. Other that that, very nice night. Will be back. We invited another couple to join us at dinner and we were aprehensive about going to Crossgates Mall for a nice dinner, but upon recommendation we went anyway. We were thrilled. The bar and decor is awesome. The decor throughout the restaurant so old fashion "cool". And the food and pricing is great! I cannot wait to go back and try other things. I am a regular here and have only been disappointed once here. The bar is always rockin, and staff usually quite friendly. The pace of the meal is considerate of the diners. It moves along with timely service, but not rushed allowing time to talk and enjoy the surroundings. The Standard is an excellent location for business meetings. While sometimes noisy, it provides an atmosphere which is busy, but conducive to productive discussion. Everyone leaves knowing they were well treated.
The only "problem" - probably was of my own doing, was my inability to reserve a specific table - a banquette in the far left corner (facing back from the fornt desk)adjacent to the bar area off the froentry. That booth is excellent for private discussions and dinner meetings.
