Beautiful Restaurant, Great FoodAs a semi-frequent visitor to the Source downstairs bar after a movie, I keep the upstairs in reserve for special occasions. Celebrating our anniversary there on a Monday night was one of those special visits. Everything we had was delicious and attractively presented. I shall return!5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMI've been to the Source severalI've been to the Source several times and the quality of food is always good. An excellent asian themed menu, with the twists in preparation and plating that you would expect from a Wolfgang Puck restaurant. My recommendations for main course would be either the duck curry or drunken noodles with shrimp.
While the prices are not outrageous, they are a bit on the high side. The one course I cringe most at the prices is dessert. My group shared the plate of chocolate chip cookies with coffee and the cookies alone were $12.
Still I would definitely recommend this restaurant5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMSaturday limited brunch menu.Saturday limited brunch menu. The chicken salad was very dissappointing - flavorless. I actually asked if they forgot the dressing. Out of desperation I poured a dipping sauce from one of the other dishes on it to give it some flavor. Bland chicken with chopped iceburg lettuce can be very dull. In retrospect, we were lucky to be forced to a tasting menu. I would normally have ordered a lunch salad which would have been a huge disappointment. The Twisted Tiffany mimosa was both unique and delicious. Our server mentioned it was his favorite.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMDid not disappointMy experience with the Dim Sum Brunch is consistent with other positive reviews. The food was quite delicious, presented well, but nothing over the top. Service was good. My friends and I were a bit under dressed compared to others in the restaurant, but the atmosphere was light and casual for brunch.
Surprisingly, the dishes that my group selected on our second round ended up being some of the best. Moral of the story: don't be afraid to order the Chinese Sausage Fried Rice or Turnip Cakes. Everything was great, but those were the surprising standouts for us.
$115 was enough to fill three bellies and get a couple drinks. Great deal for the quality.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMA Special BirthdayWe went for lunch to celebrate my husband's birthday. The food and service were first class. I'd noted it was his birthday in the reservation and they made reference to it several times.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways excellent. Has theAlways excellent. Has the crab and bacon sandwich which had a light favor full taste. My friend had the duck which he said was very tasty service here is always friendly efficient and warm.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMYUM!!!Went here for corporate lunch and food was as good as I remembered. I tried their lobster bao bun and nearly lost my mind! The flavor was delish and the bread SO yummy. I'm going back as soon as I can to order that again. Had a little issue with my food coming out with the rest of the table but they comped me for it as an apology which was great. Also had the crab fried rice which had large, tender chunks of crab and again, great flavor. Finished off my lunch with their carrot cake which tastes as good as it looks. The environment of this restaurant is very sexy and slick. Lots of glass and ivory...very lovely in the evening. They have a glass wine cellar that is also visually pleasing. Love this place!4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent interpretationsExcellent interpretations on dim sum, the barbecued pork belly and
Duck bao buns are not to be missed. Neither are the hangover eggs. Excellent
Cocktails, I recommend the dark & stormy. The staff is quite friendly. I can't
Wait to go back4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMAn excellent mealIt's true, the view is awful. But the location is good - next to the Newseum and adjacent to The Mall. The dining room is spacious and the windows make it feel big. The service is very good.
And the food is excellent. The crystal dumplings with crab and pork might be the best appetizer I've ever had. The Rockfish is also excellent.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMFood is expensive but veryFood is expensive but very good. Try the rockfish! The view is awful and the noise level much louder than expected, but the Source is still well worth experiencing.4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMpricey but worth it.ambiance and food were terrific. little on the pricey side though.4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMPHENOMENALFrom the moment we arrived everything was done right!!
Each member of this "team" obviously takes pride their role in ensuring that your dining experience is all that you could have imagined / expected. And, expectations are always extremely high for a Wolfgang Puck restaurant.
The artistic presentation and unforgettable flavor of every dish make this a "go to" spot for EVERY special ocassion and ANY time you can.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMCulinary Excellence!Every time I bring friends to The Source, it's an impeccable experience.

It was a fabulous experience from start to finish. The food was beautifully presented and perfectly cooked. I was extremely impressed and would love to come back for their dim sum brunch because my favorite course was the dim sum sampler. All the wine was amazing as well. All around, we had a fantastic experience. Best birthday dinner ever!4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was absolutely delicious,The food was absolutely delicious, the portions just right for a lighter, but satisfying lunch. Delicate flavors, contrasts of texture, yummy!! Our server was attentive and professional without being intrusive. Two amuse-bouche from chef, that was a special treat!4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Overall Experience! We had an amazing experience, the food was outstanding and the dishes were presented beautifully. Highlights include the tuna tartare, suckling pig, day boat scallops, glazed pork and pan roasted rockfish. The server gave us some great recommendations, and although the service was a little impersonal it was very efficient. Overall it was one of the best meals/experiences that we've had in years!4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMMenu is headline making.A perfect beginning to a visit to DC. Both the Amish chicken and the wild salmon were scrumptious. The signature drinks were to diie for.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was a very pleasant experience. It was a very pleasant experience. The staff was accommodating to the vegetarian and gluten-free members of our party.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding Food. Good Service. We had a terrific meal. We couldn't decide what to get so we each ordered different dishes and shared. The Lobster Bao and Duck curry were wonderful.
Server was knowledgeable and kept things moving quite well. Wish she had been more friendly and playful, as it would have been more fun when asking about food. Too many responses were flat, "depends on what you want" sorts of responses. Meh...
Regardless, this is one of my favorite DC dining spots and I'll be back again.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a treasure! We came to The Source on recommendations both from a friend in California and locals here in DC, and we were thrilled. The food was superb, and the service was efficient and attentive, and very personal. Some favorites included the dumpling soup- incredible favors and textures - and the lettuce wraps with lamb were incredible: fresh, complex, textural, delicious. Main dishes included the quail- superb- and the house special of wok-steamed lobster with a crazy hot sauce, removed from shell at the table. Triple chocolate soufflé was the perfect end to a perfect meal. Great wine menu and great selecting of single malt scotches!3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMIn general my favorite restaurantIn general my favorite restaurant in Washington. Never disappointed. I describe it as sophisticated trendy.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat FoodThe lamb was absolutely to die for; perfectly seasoned, cooked exactly medium, presented beautifully (not that I was concerned with that last part once I took a bite). The duck was scrumptious as well and I was pleased we tried it.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food at The Source isThe food at The Source is always excellent -- impeccably cooked and presented. Delicious!3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have been coming to theWe have been coming to the Source since it opened. It has never let us down.
Food, service and hospitality have been always on top3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMSleek, beautiful decor andSleek, beautiful decor and stylish ambiance. Food was good but did not warrant the prices or live up to the atmosphere. Excellent dishes were tuna tartare and lacquered duckling. Silken Tofu was downright boring, and salads, lo mein and fish were good-not-great.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMTaking a guest from out-of-townTaking a guest from out-of-town to the Saturday dim sum brunch is the way to go... Sharing a selection of truly beautiful dishes in a lovely environment is hard to beat anywhere in DC. As always, the Duck Bao Buns were one of the stars, but the Dan Dan Dumplings, Wild Mushroom Dumplings, Turnip Cakes and other dishes were all wonderful. Anya provided perfect service along with some good recommendations.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMSuperbThey did a great job helping me celebrate a friends birthday. The food was great, and the service was impeccable. Made me wonder why it had been so long since I'd been there.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food and serice.Excellent food and serice. Pricey but a good value for the cost.3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMAsian Fusion at its best! The finest of fine dining. Executive Chef Scott Drewno has his team firing on all cylinders. Everything was fantastic, from the signature cocktails pre-dinner at the bar, to the spicy tuna tartare cones to the Thai Style Garlic Glazed Pork to the Yuzu Lime Tart. Every dish was filled with unique flavor combinations, all presented with a delicate touch. This is a high end establishment that is worth every penny!3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food in an elegant setting.Great food in an elegant setting. Portions are on the small side. This was fine, as it allowed me to enjoy the spectacular chocolate soufflé, but does mean it's a little pricey.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMMy husband loved his mealMy husband loved his meal but I was dissapointed. Food was expertly prepared, especially the meat, but the flavors were not exciting , in my opinion. For examole, I ordered the braised short ribs on a gingered pea purée. Meat was succulent but I could even taste the ginger. Husband adored his filet mignon3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMClient was thrilled. SheClient was thrilled. She is a a foodie and loved it. We are already arranging the next lunch there.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were on our way to Newseum,We were on our way to Newseum, and were planning to have lunch at the Source beforehand. On our way we got caught in a terrble rain and wind squall, and arrived at the Source with not a dry fibre among our family of four. The restaurant staff was friendly and accomodating, notwithstanding that we didn't fit with the usual lunch crowd in our dripping attire. Service was great, and food outstanding.3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThree of us dined--one a vegetarianThree of us dined--one a vegetarian, one a pescatarian, and one a carnivore. They had fabulous options for all three of us to share--and wow, what amazing food it was! We started with the spicy tuna tartare in a sesame cone--amazing. My friend had the Thai fish preparation--again, so very good. Our vegatarian friend had the house made tofu. I don't care for tofu, so I'm unsure what this was, as it was unlike any tofu I'd ever had--and it was truly spectacular! The cocktails are fun, and the wine list was great. The wine we wanted wasn't available, but the waiter steered us to something new and fun. Great restaurant!3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Saturday dim sum brunchThe Saturday dim sum brunch continues to be a favorite of ours and for so many reasons. On this visit we tried the Pork Belly Potstickers (delicious) and the Spicy Tuna Tartare in Sesame-Miso Cones which were amazing. The tiny perfect cones are delicious even without a filling... Of course the Duck Bao Buns will always be at the top of our list and on this visit we were once again reminded of just how much we enjoy them. Great service, as always - thanks Anya!3/9/2013 12:00:00 AMSake collection lacking...Not really sure about this place or that I would go back. We did not order entrees and rather stuck with lots of appetizers, which were pretty small for the price. I really liked every dish we had with the exception of the dessert, which was TINY and overpriced. The ambiance/people-watching was fun (lots of DC politcos, lobbyists, and plastic blondes abounded) but we were turned off by the fact that Wolfgang's website listed lots of sakes at reasonable prices by the bottle--turns out in person, they only had a couple of sakes that were extremely expensive...the old "bait and switch." I think I would rather pay these prices (over $200.00 bill) for better Asian food, but still, it was fun for a one-off.3/8/2013 12:00:00 AMCelebrated my brothers birthdayCelebrated my brothers birthday in style. Plan to come gain. Never disappointed when we dine here. Keep up the food work!3/2/2013 12:00:00 AMSo much to love about TheSo much to love about The Source and that encompasses the food, the service, and the beautiful space. Our lunch on this visit included the fabulous salmon salad with pickled and fresh veggies (this is an addictive dish) and the spicy Thai chicken salad. Dessert isn't usually at the top of our list, but the chocolate ganache just sounded too good to skip and it lived up to expectations!3/1/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect dim sumThe fabulous Saturday dim sum brunch was served on the second level of The Source on this visit. Since it was inauguration weekend, obviously a larger number of people were expected than usual. Jorge provided perfect service as we once again enjoyed making choices from the diverse menu. The Shanghai noodles, dan dan dumplings, Chinese fried rice topped with a perfectly cooked egg and the amazingly delicious duck bao buns were just some of the highlights. We would probably be happy just ordering multiple duck buns - this is something everyone should have the opportunity to try!1/19/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had the seven course tastingWe had the seven course tasting menu, each course was delicious, service was attentive. Woiuld highly recommend this restaurant!1/18/2013 12:00:00 AMBest lunch in DC. The asianBest lunch in DC. The asian influenced cuisine was perfectly delicious and flavorful. Excellent service too. A great find near the museums.12/26/2012 12:00:00 AMKiller Dim SumWe have raved in the past about the dim sum brunch at The Source, but it would be impossible to say too much about this meal. While some of the favorites, think duck bao buns, remain on the menu, there are other new things to try at every visit. This time we managed to skip a couple of things we always order in favor of the veal wontons and the hangover eggs which we hadn't tried in the past. As with everything else on the menu, not only were the plates delicious, the presentation was amazing. We also ordered the lobster club for the second time and decided that it was even better than we remembered. Another truly amazing dim sum brunch - thank you Scott Drewno!12/15/2012 12:00:00 AMThe food was wonderful, wellThe food was wonderful, well prepared and flavorful. We found dishes that were uniquely prepared, not some standard fare. The wait staff was very helpful in providing good information about the menu.
