A word from The Social Club - Surfcomber South Beach
Regionally inspired, social plates and hand-crafted cocktails make up the fresh flavor recipes of Social Club's menu. Spices of the Grilled Octopus with tomato chutney, fennel confit, and toasted farro awaken the palate. Jumbo Scallops sit on a bed of red pepper chimichurri, pork belly, and topped with arugula. The Braised Short Rib paired with fregola sarda, garlic spinach, and natural reduction satisfy your appetite.

Chad Phillips, the nationally applauded head bartender, takes a culinary approach to the cocktail menu. "South Beach Swizzle" with banks 7 rum, kronan swedish punsch, lime, fresh pressed pineapple, and black walnut butters perfectly captures the flavor of Miami, while "Romina's Revenge" is a tasty creation of capurro pisco, art in the age rhubarb, lemon, orange pekoe tea syrup, and peach bitters. A great complement to any meal.

  • "The food was excellent. The service was embarrassing. I felt like we were asking for food at someones private party, as the 3 or 4 service folks in the restaurant were fixated on their cell phones, as opposed to the guest there to dine and drink... Oh... Did I mention that my there were only 2 of us in the entire place??? AWFUL... So disappointing, because the food was really good. Maybe a "to go" place would be a good fit??? Couldn't possibly recommend this place to anyone."

  • "Went for brunch with some friends. Nice outdoor seating area and service was ok, but we did have to flag down our server a few times for more coffee. The real disappointment was with the food. Two of us got the egg white scramble, which was supposed to have tomatoes, spinach and goat cheese. Their online menu dated 1/11 says "all egg plates served with seasoned potatoes and white, wheat or rye toast" so I was quite disappointed when all my waiter delivered a sad little salad plate of egg whites. That was the only thing on the plate, and there was no goat cheese to be found. I can't believe that they charge $12 for that. The others weren't impressed with their meals either. This place may be ok for nighttime fun, but don't go for brunch."

  • "We purchased beers and sandwiches, and they didn't disappoint. The prices aren't that far off from what you see on Ocean Drive, but the quality and ambiance were far superior. The artichoke heart appetizer didn't lack in flavor, but it did lack in artichoke hearts (just 3 pieces for $10?). Get something else. The sandwiches were delicious, and I'm sure the entrees, had we been willing to spend the money, would've been as well. Surprisingly, on a Saturday evening, it was not too busy."

  • "I met a group of friends for a late breakfast. Nothing seemed to go right. Drinks took an eternity - and we had to ask for them several times. It took an hour+ to get our entrees - and wow were they bad. Most if the were cold. The chicken and waffles was so bad that two people in our party sent the chicken back, but were told they would be getting fresh Belgian waffles that never showed up. The manager apologized, but honestly it was too late. Do yourself a favor and keep walking. Typically restaurants in Kimpton Hotels are great....not this one."

  • "What a find!!!Our best meal of the week. The appetizers were wonderful and the main course of the swordfish and snapper were really the best we have ever had. The servers were knowledgable and very nice. The manager Ehren was very engaged and we enjoyed the time he spent with us. He was super. The flan with the berry compote was a great treat to end the night. Sitting outside was great for people watching. The inside had some great artwork and atmosphere. We sent others there and they all raved about the place. A gem on Collins."

  • "Chose this spot for location and interesting menu approach. Nice outdoor seating, but we were kept close to door and drive. Inside has more charm. Service was great, although few other diners at 8 pm that night. Lake salad excellent, alligator croquettes delicious, attention to sauces and detail very nice. Colleagues enjoyed traditional Cuban dishes and it was a relaxing evening."

  • "This restaurant is a great find for locals and tourists alike. It's located in the same hotel as the dearly-missed Lantao but serves a Latin fusion kind of menu. The food is upwardly priced but is not unreasonable and, most importantly, is actually worth it. The service is always fantastic and the servers are very knowledgeable about the food. The specialty drinks are a must-try. The list changes every few months and there is also a "What We Are Drinking Now" items that changes more frequently. If you try only one thing here it should be one of these delicious concoctions!"

We did try the scallops, which were well seasoned and tasty. The ambiance is hip, with couches and chairs scattered around tables. With a more engaging menu this place would be top shelf."

  • "We had an incredible Miami Spice lunch, I had the oyster appetizer which was a truly gourmet preparation, followed by a snapper dish with yummy vegetables in a delicious sauce, ending with a chocolate molten cake. My husband had the scallop appetizer, the snapper entree, capped off by the most delicious mango cheesecake with raspberry sauce. This restaurant is a must when you're in South Beach, it was truly a scrumptious surprise!"

  • "I visited this restaurant to take advantage of the Miami Spice promotion. I arrived a bit earlier than my reservation and the restaurant wasn't fully prepared to receive me and my guest. There was no hostess on staff and we had to seat ourselves. The waiter was mediocre and seemed a bit detached. Other staff members greet us and wanted to make sure we were enjoying our experience, which I appreciated a lot. Their Miami Spice menu stated that tax and gratuity was not included, but once I got my check - IT WAS! I strongly dislike the fact that I wasn't given the opportunity to tip based upon the service and the experience I had at the restaurant. I'd recommend the scallops and the mango raspberry cheesecake. All other dishes I had were fair."

  • "I enjoyed our experience at The Social Club -- the food was good, service was attentive, and the atmosphere is nice. We went for Miami Spice, so that we could try a bunch of different dishes. In all, the appetizers were the best part of the meal -- the jumbo scallop was seared perfectly and the pork belly made it sing! The asparagus truffle risotto was also spectacular and rich. For me, unfortunately, the swordfish was a bit of a let-down. Flavorwise, I could tell that it should have been amazing, but it was overcooked to the point of being dry. Dessert was "meh," certainly nothing to write home about. The chocolate brownie was just that and the mango cheesecake was still slightly frozen :("

  • "The pork shoulder and beef were both tasty and well prepared. But the Pad Thai, the signature dish of any Thai restaurant, was less-than-ordinary. It was dry, it combined shrimp and chicken (while shrimp alone is the classic), and it was tasteless, so the noodles formed a base on which to put the beef with its sauce. It isn't hard to make the Pad Thai great. Bad Pad Thai at an Asian restaurant is like bad frites at a French bistro."

We had the Malbec Rose (any joint that carries decent rose on the menu wins points for me), the Korean BBQ ribs(on recommendation of our server) and the Seared hamachi as apps, both were fantastic - perfectly cooked and boldly seasoned. Entrees were the Ho Chi Minh Beef and the Singapore Soft Shell Crabs with Crispy Kale. "The best beef I've had in ages" due to a long marinade in a well balanced sauce. The crabs were excellent - perfectly cooked, with a bold spicy sauce. The Crispy Kale was a revelation - the texture of crispy nothing with a pow of flavor - salty, slightly sweet. A perfect accompaniment to the crabs. My only complaint is it was so salty that I couldn't finish it, as much as I wanted to. Go&Enjoy!"

  • "THe First time we went to Lantao it was amazing... the food incredible and the service excellent. This time, they ran out of a couple of the items that I wanted from the menu, the service was slow (we were the only costumers!) and the food was not up to par. My pad thai was dry and it seemed like it had been sitting in the kitchen for a while, the chicken was all at the bottom of the bowl which means that they just dumped the noodles on top. My party's food was average and the dinner was over priced. I do hope that this is just a one time deal... as I was really impressed the first time we went. Right now I don't think I will go back... but I will monitor other people reviews to see if there is a change."

The baked whole red snapper had an amazing flavor, crab egg rolls were outstanding, spicy prawns and cod green cabbage salad were all great. I'll definitely go there again!"

  • "The food was tremendous and the setting was laid back and fun, a great change from the high-pressure pretentiousness of the rest of South Beach during ArtBasel. We ate out on the porch and our waiter, Carr, was a real pleasure. He recommended a dish (some kind of duck noodles, as I recall) that we likely would not have tried, and it turned out to be our favorite thing that we ordered! He also recommended a great wine, Las Rocas Garnacha. I normally don't take a lot of waiters' recommendations, but he was so personable and mellow that we felt instant trust."

I am so happy to discover Lantao Kitchen + Cocktails as a venerable treasure trove in Miami’s many choices for a dining experience! Enter the Surfcomber hotel lobby on 17th & Collins and push past the glass doors leading to the pool area to begin your journey to Lantao K+C. The cocktails are fresh with top shelf liquor and they pack a punch! For apps we chose the Korean BBQ Pork Ribs & Miami Bahn Mi which was to die for! So perfectly done, what a sinfully rich combo of crispy sweet pork belly with pickled veggies! Dessert was pear cake with caramelized pears & bits of candied ginger floating atop sweetened condensed milk & tangy goji berry sauce."
