  • "I have been going to the Smoke House since I was a little girl. I'm almost 60 years old now and live in St. Louis and flew in for my mothers 88th birthday. It was our first and only choice for lunch. Opening up those front doors and looking in and feeling the cool air hit us was like coming home. Peaking into that beautiful bar all I could think was this place is as sexy as I remembered. Thank you for keeping this Gem of a Resturant the same over all these years. It's was a great lunch! We loved it!!! And don't get me started on the garlic bread. "

  • "The resturant was extremly noisy and the place needs updated the booths have cracks in them and the servers are all male there extremly slow and cant speak english very well and have no personnality. The food average definitly not worth what there charging. "

  • "We were in town for a girls getaway and to attend the Ellen show. I haven't been to the Smokehouse for many years( we used to go for date night 30 years ago) and decided to have lunch there. It was just as I remembered and every bit a good. The food and service was excellent! I will be returning for a fabulous meal when I am in town."

  • "What a shame to have witnessed the death of a legend. The Smoke House used to be a classy restaurant. Now it seems like a Sizzler with a good zip code. Shorts and sandals seemed to be the prevalent attire, tables on top of tables, patrons without the common sense to take their screaming babies outside and management without the common sense to say something to them, slow service, adequate food and ridiculously expensive valet parking. Even the garlic cheese bread isn't what it used to be.What a disappointment!"

  • "My family was in the cattle business for over four generations. My father hand selected the cut of every steak that came across our family table. You never needed anything on it, it was too good for steak sauce! Ever since my father passed away, I find I barely eat steak, especially at restaurants, because nothing ever compares. However, on our first visit to The Steakhouse I decided to order the porterhouse. I am so glad I did, because as soon as I took the first bite... I was back home. I can't wait to take my family there when they come to visit. Dad would have LOVED this place, especially their steaks!"

  • "Hadn't been here for years but was so much of what we remembered. Our Open Table reservation rewarded us with an exuberant welcome from the host followed by prompt seating at a comfortable booth. The garlic bread was exactly as we recalled from years ago; very nice when certain things do not change over time. Soup and salads were healthy portions and nicely prepared. Fresh fish, steak and stroganoff were all nicely prepared and presented; sumptuous and delicious. The waitress added a side vegetable for one of the meals; nicely done. We'll be back much sooner this time."

  • "The SmokeHouse is a classic "throwback" Steakhouse. Our table ordered Ribeye, Lamb Rack, Chicken Piccata, and Pork Ribs. All dishes were well prepared and served timely. I will definitely go back for another dinner and recommend others to do the same."

It is a traditional steak house restaurant from the olden days when patrons drank hard liquor drinks before ordering huge steaks and butter-laden bake potatoes. Service is efficient and the food is edible. Wine list is standard fare with a few notable exceptions. No need to dress-up for this crowd. A good destination for tourists who visit the nearby television/movie studios. Thursday night you get 50% off any wine bottle and a filet mignon dinner is $19.95 although dessert is not included. And that's fine with me. It's worth dining there at least once in your life."

  • "This long, firmly established restaurant has never disappointed us. We started coming here as kids with our parents when we lived in the area. We now travel well over an hour's drive to have our birthdays and anniversary dinners here. Food is always very good and sometimes outstanding. Their garlic bread is renown. Service is great.   • "The best thing at the Smoke House is their fabulous garlic bread - a must have! I had the Prime Rib w/Baked Potatoe. I found the meat lacking flavor which has happened before. I found the service to be prompt but the waiters did not seem to know much about the menu. But in their credit they did go ask the chef. They just seemed not up to speed on what they were serviing or how things were prepared. We got our food immediately. In fact it was only about 5 mins after we ordered. That can be good and bad. We did not even have time to enjoy our drinks before our meal. This is a special place for my sister in law so I will go back. I will just re-evaluate what I order. I do find their prices are high for what you get."

When the music started, it was fun naming that song, & remember ing what we're doing when the song came on. The bathroom Was clean , the booth needed to be repaired, but it was clean not sticky.   • "Had dinner here with my husband. Did not know that there was a valet so that was a shock when I pulled up. I usually finish primping in the car before I enter a place so I had to rush through final touches at the valet entry. Our waitress was excellent. The waiters/busboys were stone-faced and short on words. The garlic cheese read, French onion soup, and prime rib were delicious. I highly recommend them. I also recommend saving room for dessert. They bring around a dessert tray if which you can choose from."

  • "The Smokehouse has been an institution since 1946. The decor, the paneled walls and the wonderful red banquets all serve to create an old Hollywood atmosphere that is hard to find today. None of that would matter if the food wasn’t good. Luckily, the food is fantastic and has been consistently the 40 or so years I’ve gone there. This isn’t the place to go on a diet (though they do have things that will fit that bill). This is the place to go for a Filet Mignon that is tender as a mother’s tear. It is the place to go for, hands down, the best blue cheese dressing in Los Angeles. The staff are professionals and it shows. They care that you have a great time and do everything they can to make sure you do."

  • "This was first time here; maybe last....They sat us in a booth which they KNEW was wet from leaking from ceiling...after I dripped on I asked to be re-seated; they sat us 2 booths down in an area that was still leaking from the ceiling; not on us this time.....took awhile to get food one ordered; ordered steak medium well...it comes out burnt...at this point I said screw it...carved off burned part ate and left...oh...and on the way out...there were 2 other places that were leaking water....."

  • "One of the best features of the Smokehouse is it's 1940's atmosphere which is pretty much unchanged from when it opened in 1946. The dark wood paneling and the red upholstery in the booths are great -- it makes you feel like you have stepped back in time. I had my usual faire -- their great garlic bread and a bowl of their delicious New England clam chowder. My wife had a chicken Caesar salad -- her only complaint was that the chicken was cold. The one complaint I have was the service. Our waiter acted like he was totally uninterested in especially after two of the three of us only ordered the clam chowder. I guess he figured that with a small bill he would get a small tip and didn't want to waste his time with our table."

  • "Although it is interesting to dine in a place that has been there since 1946, the waiters are rude, the service was horrible, my husband had to go get his own coffee after waiting for 20 minutes and asking multiple times for a refill. Additionally, my husband and I arrived in seperate cars, and my husband paid the valet fee for my car as well, by the time I got up to exit in my own vehicle, the valet claimed my husband never paid, was extremly RUDE, and charged me a 2nd time. This place is awful, would not recommend it for ANY reason!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

  • "I have been going to this restaurant for at least 40 years. I love it. The only thing I don't like about going on a Sunday is you don't have a choice between buffet or a menu. I really wanted to order from their menu and it is not offered until 5:30 PM on Sundays. Other than that it is perfect for any occasion."

  • "In 10 years dining here, it's become one of my favorite LA spots but Sunday night didn't measure up to my previous visits. By brother and family were visiting LA for the first time so I made a reservation to give them a taste of old Hollywood. Of our three steaks, two were just mediocre (not a lot of flavor) and my sister-in law had to send her's back when her medium-rare filet came out medium-well, then on her second attempt it was so tough she could hardly cut it so she sent that back as well. Embarrassed at sending two steaks back, she just shared her husbands. They offered her a glass of wine on the house, but the waiter forgot to remove her steak from the bill! I hope this was an anomaly. I'd be so sad if the place is going downhill."
