This Bar-B-Que haven is the brainchild of Chef Jordan Wakefield. Jordan and wife Erin Wakefield opened the doors in October 2013. This "Gastroque" concept is very chef driven, with a focus on the meat itself, as well as an infusion of unique southern cuisine. However unlike most Bar-B-Que restaurants, the sides are not an afterthought. The creamy mac-n-cheese is topped with bread crumbs and baked to order. Our crispy brussel sprouts are flash fried, then drizzled with sweet maple syrup. Just as Jordan put his touch on all of these classic items, his wife Erin created an award winning cocktail list that pairs perfectly with the delectable food. The Restaurant is located at 309 Nelson Street, in the eclectic Castleberry Hill neighborhood. We are just a short walk from many downtown attractions, such as CNN Center, Phillips Arena, Centennial Olympic Park, and The Georgia Dome.

Walked in the door and could smell we were in for a great evening. Service, food, ambiance was wonderful. Highly recommend the turkey breast and brisket combo. Definitely a place to revisit.

Ordered the pick 2 brisket and pork belly. They were tough and seemed to be old. They were out of ginger beer and the ginger ale was flat. My wife ordered the ribs and she had similar comments about the quality of the meat. The ribs were definitely not falling off the bone. Since it was a slow day I assumed the meat was left over from Sunday. The server recommended the macaroni and cheese..said it was “a must have” but it was baked.tasted like Kraft box with real cheese added and then torched on the to top to give it a baked look. I took the meat home and gave it to Lola our pitbull.

We booked Smoke Ring for a birthday party & had a large-ish group of 13. (Allowed us to bring our own cake.) The service was great from the minute we arrived. Some really unique drink options. They had a limited drink menu that night for some reason, but the server was able to still get us some drinks we'd seen on the online menu. Everyone liked all the drinks. Food was so, so good. First time I've ever had ribs that didn't need sauce. Yum! Same with chicken. The restaurant itself was cozy with cool decor. And it wasn't so noisy that we couldn't hear each other speak. Only downside & reason for 4 stars was that they were out of 2 sides that half the table had planned to order (brussels sprouts & garlic mashed potatoes). We all said we want to go back. Oh-- and there is a parking deck right next door. Not sure what $$ policy always is but we told the guy we were there to eat & he waved us in at no charge, even though others were paying to park for T Swift concert.

This place is great before a concert or game at Mercedes Benz. There is also a parking deck right at it and then you can walk to your event! Food was great and everyone was friendly
