  • "Evster is an absolute pleasure. This restaurant is so lucky to have such a pleasant amazing server who really believes in the company and food and did everything he could to make our meal pleasant. Food was great. Service better. Smores dessert was gross though. Sorry. Everything else lovely!"

  • "Went with friends for dinner... Was a little nervous because the restaurant was more bustling than our usual haunts. Was seated directly behind the bar and thought we were going to hate our evening. However, after the initial crowd left (about1/2 hour into our seating) - 7:30 or so, the noise subsided to a more reasonable level and were able to converse easily. The food was very well prepared, we had steaks, chicken and fish.. Portions were good, desserts were excellent. Service was attentive and courteous. Definitely a find for the Lincoln Center area.. We would return...."

  • "A welcome addition to Lincoln Center area. In some ways it's very similar to the Saloon which was so vibrant and had such an eclectic menu. This is really the place to go even before or after whatever Lincoln Center event you're at."

  • "Seven of us enjoyed the ambiance and the service was good. but the waiter did not fulfill the orders as was asked. Dressings for salads were to be on the side and that did not happen. Next time would love to eat outdoors and enjoy that way."

  • "A very noisy place to eat, although it is right across the street from Lincoln Center."

  • "I attend concerts and ballets at Lincoln Center quite frequently and usually eat in the surrounding restaurants and, frankly, never saw The Smith, and I'm glad I missed it. A friend had eaten there after a performance and enjoyed it, so we had dinner there before a performance. The restaurant is patterned after a saloon--tiled walls and floors, wood table and chairs. Consequently, no sound-absorbing materials around. It obviously is popular among the younger set, so the noise level is deafening when the place is crowded as it was the night we ate there. That is the last The Smith will see of me."

  • "We wanted a casual restaurant near Lincoln Center and chose Smiths without knowing very much about it. We were very pleasantly surprises. The food selection was terrific and tasted great. We found it to be a hip, modern restaurant with quality and fun food. Good wine list too. The staff was great too. We also liked the ease of reservation making through Open Table. We also liked the followup confirmation and reminder."

  • "This is an excellent place for both food and drinks"

  • "Amazingly busy and boisterous, far too noisy for our pleasure. The crowds obviously love it, and that's fine for the crowds, but for us, that's the last time because the din makes chatting impossible. It's difficult even to remember the food, but it wasn't bad--on the heavy side though."

  • "The brunch is great! My waitress was rude and seemed annoyed by a simple request. I've been here on several occasions and consistently the food has been great, so I'll let the poor service slide this time around. It's a definite for brunch. Foods to try: French toast, waffle, chicken sausage, brussel sprouts, potato chip fondue and the lobster roll."

  • "The Smith has an awesome brunch menu. I love that you can make reservations for brunch unlike at other trendy NYC spots."

  • "Recently dined here for Sat. brunch. Calling the ambience "energetic" is an understatement to say the least. Very crowded and exceedingly loud, we were bumped and pushed and virtually unable to have a conversation at our very small table. Seated in the line of the front door, we experienced vigorous gusts of chilly air throughout our meal. That said, the service was as good as could be expected given the number of patrons that had to be attended to. The food was quite good, but unfortunately, difficult to enjoy given the ambience."

  • "There is nothing bad to say about brunch at the Smith. The food is standard good brunch food, the service was fine. Slightly dissapointed with the french toast- over all I'd say they do a better job with savory brunch than the sweet. The place gets really crowded and loud, but is still pleasant. Good for a larger group."

  • "Loved the gift of regular or fuzzy water. Energetic service and good food. Noise level challenging for conversation. Perhaps back room is quieter."

  • "Great brunch spot - never fails to provide great food and fun ambiance!"

  • "Wonderful lunch options and great location with outdoor seating right near Lincoln Center. Food was good, if a bit pricey. But steak was cooked to perfection and the fried artichokes were amazing."

  • "Excellent food, great service. Would definitely visit again!"

  • "The location is perfect for pre-Lincoln Center events. It was a mostly young crowd with a vibrant bar scene the night we were there. The food is excellent - lots of unusual combinations. Service was very good - friendly, quick and good recommendations. We will definitely return."

  • "My husband and I went there to celebrate his recent promotion. The food was great, service was wonderful and drinks were very good. We got there around 8pm and the place was packed and buzzing, luckily we had a reservation! It's a good restaurant and we plan to return soon! The chilled lobster and the grilled lamb were so delicious. Highly recommend!"

  • "Although the food was very good, the noise level was so high that we could not hear each other. This made this an unpleasant dining experience, an dso I would not recommend it to friends"

  • "We ate at The Smith on a Sunday at 4:30 prior to a 6:00 curtain at Lincoln Center. The food was very disappointing -- four of us ordered the same dish -- arugula salad with grilled chicken -- and all found it lacking. Service was good but noise level very high. Don't plan on returning."

  • "I really wanted to give high grades but can't! My trout crust was so dry. My husband's steak was tasty but whipped potatoes not. Wait staff pleasant but slow. All that for not a modest amount of money! Location is great but experience fair."

  • "We love The Smith, and we're always looking for an excuse to go. We had friends in town, and out-of-towners always love this place. It is fun and lively, and they always have delicious food, attentive service, and yummy cocktails. This restaurant is ALWAYS a crowd pleaser."

  • "This place is my neighborhood go to for dinner with friends. Even though it is quite loud the food is good. The steak salad is still my favorite as is the sticky toffee pudding."

  • "We went to The Smith before the opera. The staff was very attentive but not annoying. The paella special for Saturdays was excellent and the friend artichokes really yummy as was the birthday cake. One person in the party had the chicken pot pie. He descried it as good but he did not seem thrilled. The blood orange margarita was excellent. The prices were reasonable for the Lincoln Center. The only area I would improve is to give bread to each person int he party, not require folks to share and replenish it. The server was quiet nice and another server even took time to take our picture."

  • "The Smith knows it has a captive audience, and it acts like it. They tell you when you arrive that they won't seat you till your party is complete, but good luck finding a place to stand at the overcrowded bar area. And yet: Good luck as well getting the table you reserved once your party is complete, "because we don't have a lot of tables that accommodate four people [!]." We were seated 30 minutes late, which left us 45 minutes to have dinner, eyes on the clock, and get out the door to make a curtain. Did they make sure that we were served at lightning speed? Yes. Does a comped bowl of potato chips make up for the delay? No. How's the food? It's…fine. Will I book here again? I doubt it very much."

  • "Decent food. Same restaurant as location in east village but they pump up their prices here to target Lincoln center crowd vs. NYU/East village crowd. Style is kind of immiation of Keith McNally restaurant."

  • "We made last minute reservations. Thank goodness. The dining room was packed. Service was a little slow, however friendly and helpful when it came. Appetizers were forgotten. The staff was apologetic and considerate enough to ask if we still wanted them or if we were over it, which we were. The entree servings were so large that we were fine without them. Food was sufficient. Not outstanding and easily forgettable. The house sodas were a treat. Despite the flaws it was overall a fun, contemporary dinner in a manufactured kind of way."

  • "I brought a friend from out of town here for brunch, and was left embarrassed and apologizing. The place is noisy, the food is so bland, no ambiance, meh service, and it was so hot we were both uncomfortable throughout the whole meal. The Bloody Mary was the best thing I had, but my second drink (the ginger smash?) had to be sent back. My server informed me this happened a lot, so a heads up would've been nice and saved us both some trouble. The Mac and cheese was so bland and flavorless we had to add our bacon in just to enjoy it. The ranchero scramble was also bland, with a particularly bad tortilla on the bottom- my friend wouldn't even take a second bite. And our server recommended this dish! Don't waste your time or money here."

  • "Nice option in a relatively void dining zone around Lincoln Center. Solid bistro fair. Generous wine pour. Loud but that's part of the experience."

  • "Have been here twice and both times were good. It's a little loud but it's probably because of all the retro tile that reminds me of my youth. A solid meal, at a fair price. I'll be back."

  • "The filet mignon was excellent and tender. A little too pink in the middle for medium-well however. But overall the food was amazing, as usual."
    Dined on 3/28/2014
  • "The food is good, with lots of choices. The service is attentive. But the noise level is close to intolerable at peak hours. We had dinner on a Thursday night from 5:15pm to 6:45pm. The first half of the meal you could talk to one another in a normal voice. After that you were screaming to be heard and left with a sore throat! Maybe a younger crowd is used to that, but not us."

  • "Special soup of kale and beans was superb. Salad of seared tuna was perfect. I’ll be back because all the other dishes that I saw looked yummy...beer battered green beans and omelets. Seating is tight, but attention is excellent."

  • "Food was pretty good, service was exceptional, we went for dinner before a performance at Lincoln Center, they got everything promptly we had time for appetizer, dinner, dessert and coffee and didn't feel rushed. downside: noise level was high enought that conversation was difficult and tables are so close together that it is a little awkward"
    Dined on 3/26/2014
  • "Food is always terrific but was disappointed to learn the tuna salad has been changed. I was however able to get the old style with lots of greens and no potato salad. Wine and drink list also great. Service spotty. Noise is a real problem but lunch after 1 is a gem and quite comfortable. Staff welcoming."

  • "Great spot, but definitely make reservations because it's quite crowded. The food is kind of expensive for what you get but it's a fun atmosphere."

  • "I must admit that i hit the place at a low point. To their discredit, they did not tell me that their coffee machine had just broken down and they had no coffee and limited hot water for tea. To their credit, I believe by the time we where half way done with our meal, they had run across the street to starbucks with several coffee urns and where able to offer coffee at the end of the meal. That would have only minimally have bothered me but i had an egg white spinach omelette that was bland as bland can be. Despite this, other stuff on the menu looked very interesting and i would probably go back to try a lunch or dinner. Honorable mention to the wait staff for trying their best to work in a difficult situation."

And the service was unmatched. I love it!!the perfect way to begin a great birthday. I will definitely be back sooner than later."
