  • "We have eaten at your restaurant quite a few times since you opened in our community. A welcome addition. But this last visit on Sunday although the service was very good the food was average and the portions shrunk but the prices did not. In particular the Large salad with tuna. Tuna was good salad pitiful. Diane Fleck"

  • "I absolutely love this place. Whenever I have to make a reservation I choose this place because the food is great, the atmosphere is great, and it's located right in Lincoln Center. "

  • "I love The Smith. It is great for what it is...yumminess at a reasonable price, and the service is great too! ---and I am a highly critical, detail oriented, food-obsessed consumer (in my spare time.) I love the yummie comfort food, the brunch, their dinner-- the roasted chicken and green beans being a favorite when I'm trying to watch my weight. I also love their grits as well as all of their home made sodas and desserts--when I'm not trying to watch my weight. What I love most of all is that I could choose to order one of of their awesome salads --- though I never do!! One of my fave places for deliciousness at a reasonable price! It's one of my staples!"

  • "I keep going back, as long as I'm seated on time the meal is otherwise outstanding. "

  • "Great food, but the ambiance has many drawbacks. Lacks personality in many ways. NYC has better places to dine..."

  • "I would not have tried this without information I got online but I'm glad I did. Food was very good! Noisy as warned, but for fun it worked fine."

  • "A tidal wave of diners jammed into every available space. It is madness. Just want to eat as fast as possible and leave. Asked for a quiet table on Open Table. Obviously impossible. "

  • "The food was good, the place is New York lively. We go often. The Smith is always reliable. Go and enjoy!"

  • "Food always consistent, service awesome. Noise level is high."
    Dined on 4/18/2014
  • "It's really OK, but way too loud, and I asked for a quiet table! Obnoxiously loud. Food adequate, but expensive for what you get. when you ask us to rate noise level, how about 'loud' instead of 'energetic?' Ever consider hearing loss for the workers?"

  • "This Lincoln Center outpost of a chain of restaurants has filled the void left by the closing of several neighborhood stalwarts over the last few years. Pricing is reasonable, unlike some of the neighboring restaurants, while having inventive and tasty food. The only slight drawback is the noise level, which can be daunting when the place is full and the bar is hopping. Still, if you are looking for a great time and good food, whether you are in the area to see something at Lincoln Center or just to dine, this spot is a great choice. The staff are very professional and courteous, something I found out when a less than sober guest of mine became difficult one night when I dined there; the waiter and maitre d' were more than gracious."

  • "This restaurant never fails to meet expectations. Their weekend brunch is delicious and while the noise level is pretty loud, the food definitely makes up for it!"

  • "A great lunch with superb food options and amazing service by Adam. The exceptional raw bar and great salads were the perfect option for a hot spring day in NYC. Enjoy the scene and attention to detail by staff and manager."

  • "Very good food, efficient service and a stress-free, relaxed dinner before a show. Smith knows that its clientele in the early evening will likely be on the clock, and delivers delicious food (the pork chop with corn/bacon flapjacks and creamed kale was delicious and I would have it again if just for the sides...) with service that is just brisk enough without being rushed that there is no need to worry about being late."

  • "While the food is good and the price is right, it is too noisy. I will not be back."

  • "We had the ranchero scramble and French toast with a side of chicken maple sausage, yummy good!!!"

  • "My husband and I dine here for brunch almost every weekend. There are lots of options on the menu so we never get bored. The food is excellent and the portions are large. The crowd is energetic and filled with UWS families and couples. But what makes this place really stand out is the staff and management. They are SO lovely and accommodating."

  • "Very good food and service at reasonable prices - especially for the Lincoln Center area. However, the noise level was deafening."

  • "The smith never disappoints and is always a hit. Food is outstanding. Saturday night paella is one of the best in the city. This visit in particular was special because we showed up last minute wth a group of six, including 2 children and they were somehow able to accommodate us immediately. Thanks again to Jeff who made it all happen."

  • "We had a 6:15 reservation for 5 people. NY Philharmonic at 8pm. Place was crazy busy. We waited 20 minutes for a table in the front room (they had opened the wall so that it was effectively outdoors -- so we could listen to the buses go buy and not hear ourselves speak for all the crazy noise indoors). The table was TINY; could barely hold four people. The manager could not seat us in back. We left, got a sandwich at Craftwich and sat in a quiet public space. What a relief. I go to this restaurant all the time, and while the food is terrific this place is not great for big groups. I'll keep it to two people for pre-concert from now on."

  • "Evster is an absolute pleasure. This restaurant is so lucky to have such a pleasant amazing server who really believes in the company and food and did everything he could to make our meal pleasant. Food was great. Service better. Smores dessert was gross though. Sorry. Everything else lovely!"

  • "Went with friends for dinner... Was a little nervous because the restaurant was more bustling than our usual haunts. Was seated directly behind the bar and thought we were going to hate our evening. However, after the initial crowd left (about1/2 hour into our seating) - 7:30 or so, the noise subsided to a more reasonable level and were able to converse easily. The food was very well prepared, we had steaks, chicken and fish.. Portions were good, desserts were excellent. Service was attentive and courteous. Definitely a find for the Lincoln Center area.. We would return...."

  • "A welcome addition to Lincoln Center area. In some ways it's very similar to the Saloon which was so vibrant and had such an eclectic menu. This is really the place to go even before or after whatever Lincoln Center event you're at."

  • "Seven of us enjoyed the ambiance and the service was good. but the waiter did not fulfill the orders as was asked. Dressings for salads were to be on the side and that did not happen. Next time would love to eat outdoors and enjoy that way."

  • "A very noisy place to eat, although it is right across the street from Lincoln Center."

  • "I attend concerts and ballets at Lincoln Center quite frequently and usually eat in the surrounding restaurants and, frankly, never saw The Smith, and I'm glad I missed it. A friend had eaten there after a performance and enjoyed it, so we had dinner there before a performance. The restaurant is patterned after a saloon--tiled walls and floors, wood table and chairs. Consequently, no sound-absorbing materials around. It obviously is popular among the younger set, so the noise level is deafening when the place is crowded as it was the night we ate there. That is the last The Smith will see of me."

  • "We wanted a casual restaurant near Lincoln Center and chose Smiths without knowing very much about it. We were very pleasantly surprises. The food selection was terrific and tasted great. We found it to be a hip, modern restaurant with quality and fun food. Good wine list too. The staff was great too. We also liked the ease of reservation making through Open Table. We also liked the followup confirmation and reminder."

  • "This is an excellent place for both food and drinks"

  • "Amazingly busy and boisterous, far too noisy for our pleasure. The crowds obviously love it, and that's fine for the crowds, but for us, that's the last time because the din makes chatting impossible. It's difficult even to remember the food, but it wasn't bad--on the heavy side though."

  • "The brunch is great! My waitress was rude and seemed annoyed by a simple request. I've been here on several occasions and consistently the food has been great, so I'll let the poor service slide this time around. It's a definite for brunch. Foods to try: French toast, waffle, chicken sausage, brussel sprouts, potato chip fondue and the lobster roll."

  • "The Smith has an awesome brunch menu. I love that you can make reservations for brunch unlike at other trendy NYC spots."

  • "Recently dined here for Sat. brunch. Calling the ambience "energetic" is an understatement to say the least. Very crowded and exceedingly loud, we were bumped and pushed and virtually unable to have a conversation at our very small table. Seated in the line of the front door, we experienced vigorous gusts of chilly air throughout our meal. That said, the service was as good as could be expected given the number of patrons that had to be attended to. The food was quite good, but unfortunately, difficult to enjoy given the ambience."

  • "There is nothing bad to say about brunch at the Smith. The food is standard good brunch food, the service was fine. Slightly dissapointed with the french toast- over all I'd say they do a better job with savory brunch than the sweet. The place gets really crowded and loud, but is still pleasant. Good for a larger group."

  • "Wonderful lunch options and great location with outdoor seating right near Lincoln Center. Food was good, if a bit pricey. But steak was cooked to perfection and the fried artichokes were amazing."

  • "The location is perfect for pre-Lincoln Center events. It was a mostly young crowd with a vibrant bar scene the night we were there. The food is excellent - lots of unusual combinations. Service was very good - friendly, quick and good recommendations. We will definitely return."
