Diner Reviews
  • "Locally owned and managed, this is a delightful spot. Service is efficient and friendly. The food is consistently good. Ingredients are procured from local sources. The restaurant is tucked away in an upscale small shopping area. It is easy to find if you know where to look. We have been here many times for a late breakfast or lunch and have never been disappointed."

  • "We went on Sunday for lunch/brunch. Everything is fresh and local. Fabulous omelets and a short rib hash that was to die for."

  • "Great food, wonderful atmosphere and excellent service. We were three for lunch and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The iced tea was amazing!"

  • "The best short rib I've ever had. Ingenuity on display with the truffle popcorn. My wife, who does not like salmon that much, still raves about the "best salmon I've ever had." I can't find a thing to complain about, the food, service and ambiance (we had great dinner guests too) was that great. This has to be the best food in the area and the prices were not shocking at bill time which was an added treat because the quality of the food could certainly justify it. These folks are doing it right. A brief list of my foodie credentials: Le Bernadin, WD 50, Blue Sage, Nectar"

  • "This is the second time I've dined at Silverspoon. I knew the food was good, but this time we were a group of four women celebrating one's 60th birthday. We were concerned because we were at a table in the middle of the restaurant, and our birthday girl was brought 60 (yes, 60) gifts to open. The restaurant was loud enough that we didn't feel we were disrupting anything. Other patrons actually made nice comments, and there were other birthday celebrants there. But the best thing was the staff, who allowed us to take our time, well after the other patrons had left. They were friendly and considerate, and the food was excellent! Best duck I've ever had! I will definitely be back."

  • "Your Egg-themed menu was spectacular. Every dish offered the right portion of delicious creativity. The lobster Francaise was the best way I have ever had lobster out of its shell. Kudos to the chef & staff that make your efforts run so smoothly. A truly wonderful evening out. Looking forward to our next visit. Our waiter, Mike, was very attentive throughout the evening & explained each dish with passion & joy."

  • "This is the third time I've been to The Silverspoon and the third time that I've had an amazing dish and excellent service. I never had to ask for a refill on my drink, food was warm and delivered in a very timely fashion, and the food was also wonderful. I had the Everything French toast, the Kennett Square omelette, and I would also suggest the caramelized pepper bacon and the truffle fries as well. All the ingredients were fresh and very very tasty. If you're looking for a great breakfast or lunch place, The Silverspoon is definitely right up your alley. I have yet to try them for dinner, maybe that's next! Make sure you check out Valley Forge Flowers right across the way! Very easy way to get lost for an afternoon."

  • "Everything was wonderful from the menu to the service to the lighting to the timing to the choices. We were totally happy with our fantastic dinner experience and we will definitely be back. Loved that it is a BYO too. Dinner with tastes, appetizers, salad, entrees and 1 shared dessert was right around $100 before tip which was a very easy price for what we had received in return. This is a small place, tables were candlelit. It is comfy and nice, not overly so, but good enough. The decor maybe is more suited for brunch/lunch in a rustic countryside furnished way, but it was fine for dinner once the candles were lit. The food and the service were so great that I wouldn't let that bother me and I will be back again soon. Enjoy!"

  • "We saw the reviews and thought we would give it a try. SP is OK but not great. There isn't anything specific that I would point to as a problem , just that nothing really stood out."

  • "I had an apple/cheese/bacon grilled sandwich. The filling was great. The fried sandwich was too greasy on the outside. The other items were delicious!"

  • "My wife and I had a great dinner at this up-scale shopping spot BYOB. The mushroom bisque was so good even my non-soup eating wife enjoyed her "tasting" my bowl. Her duck breast was perfectly prepared to her " pink" preference. My Amish style short ribs were tasty and tender. But the dessert surprise rhubarb-key lime ice cream was outstanding. (we never heard of it before either.) There is a limited menu but always a couple of specials are available."

  • "This was our first time at this restaurant and I don't know why we haven't been there before. This low key BYOB restaurant served excellent food with great service. I'm glad we took a good bottle of wine with us because the quality of the food deserved it. The salted roast potato 'snack' was a novel and unique way to start the meal. The amuse bouchée was great and a pleasant surprise. We had the short ribs and the duck entrees. Both were served hot and with interesting sauces and accompaniments. The deserts were also excellent. Service was both attentive and knowledgable. This is a great places and we're definitely going back."

  • "I love the concept of special chef dinners…the one Tuesday evening was not as special as the first one…with the exception of the brussell sprout salad. It was terrific. I found the chicken main course to be really dry. I hope these dinners will continue…they are such fun."

  • "Later on a Tuesday night so not crowded nor noisy. They offer an interesting spin on eclectic fare with an additional whimsical tasting menu (Tuesdays and Wednesdays I believe), this time surrounding the Noble Chicken. Our food was flavorfull from the amuse bouche sent out by the chef, the truffled popcorn to the salads to the main and served perfectly hot (which I really appreciate) Our server, Rebecca, was welcoming, delightful and attentive without being overly present so my friend and I had undisrupted time to catch up. We had a small table for two by the window and though the view is of a parking lot, the trees and store fronts are prettily lit and transform the scene at night. Lovely evening, great food, highly recommended."

  • "Great experience with wonderful friends. Food was very good and atmosphere lovely. It was a little bit chilly in the restaurant. Overall experience was wonderful."

  • "Limited menu, smaller portions, somewhat pricey. A little noisy but not bad at all by BYOB standards. Did not feel rushed even though we were a 6:30pm seating. "Salt potatoes" and "root vegetable chips" seemed odd - actually the whole "table snacks" list seemed odd. Mushroom bisque was very bland. Kale and radicchio salad was wonderfully different. Arctic char, though tasty, at $27 seemed a bit meager, presentation could have used something more on the plate."

  • "Nice welcome by server Michael who recognized us from previous visits. Special appetizer of boat sausage with cabbage was delicious as was the short ribs but found the duck a little disappointing - a bit dry and tasteless. However it wouldn't dampen plans to go back. Would just avoid the duck in future."

  • "We came in on recommendation from a friend for the crepes. They did not have the traditional breakfast menu...no pancakes for example and ended up not even having crepes. For breakfast the food was very rich and not usual menu of items. For two with tip we spent $44 which I thought was very pricey. Also we had to keep asking to have coffee cups filled up."

  • "This is our neighborhood gem. It is a BYOB . The chef is very talented, the combination of flavors that he puts together are mouth watering delicious. The atmosphere is delightful. Our waiter was Michael and as always gentleman and makes you feel like old friends. I would highly recommend this Resturant ."

  • "The Silverspoon (what a name!) is a wonderful place for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Servers and owners are very, very nice and the food is locally grown and VERY FINE. Good preparation, excellent hand with herbs & spices, many selections are available. Top level all the way 'round."

  • "We went for Valentines dinner which was a 6 course prix fix menu. Nice ambiance; the kind of place you do not feel out of place if you're in jeans or a suit and tie. Our server was very prompt and courteous. Main course was a duck on mashed sweet potato with a chipote drizzle. My partner had a beet gnocchi dish. In both cases, more for the gnocchi, the flavor of the food was not vivid, like the dial was turned down to 5. Perhaps it was the nature of making a lot of the same thing for everyone that made the food seem muted. The every day menu looks really interesting. We will try this place again on a regular night and hope the tastes of the interesting ingredients that they use can come out to play"

  • "First visit on Valentines day with fixed price menu. Small portions with above average construction and flavors. At these prices especially as a BYOB I like to relax and enjoy, overall experience was rushed even with few people were waiting for tables."

  • "This was my second visit to Silverspoon. My first visit was good but this time it fell flat. They sat us at a table that was 15 feet from the front door and it was 20 degrees outside so I had to keep my coat on. I asked for grilled fish and vegetables that were lightly sauteed in olive oil and they came out swimming in oil. Not very tasty."

  • "This restaurant was very cute inside and the food smelled great. Everything else was a giant disappointment. They had two waiters working on a Saturday morning brunch so they were obviously extremely busy. The waiter was short with us from the second we sat down and would barely answer our questions as he was walking away from the table. Our food came out pretty quickly but was ironically cold by the time it got to our table. When the waiter asked how our food was I informed him that it was just "ok" and that it was cold. I only ate it because I was hungry. He literally did not respond to my comment. He didn't say a thing & walked away. I worked in the restaurant industry for years &I'm pretty understanding but this was a let down."

  • "Our second time at Silver Spoon. First time for brunch. Typically, it was very good food, with commensurate service. On a previous review I had noted my concern about what I felt was a stingy dinner portion compared to the price charged. At brunch I had no such complaint."
    Dined on 2/9/2014
  • "Clearly, if you're a regular, you get special service. In my case, not being a regular, I got a table by the front door, being chilled everytime a new guest arrived, a highly unskilled (yet surely trying) waitress and a serving of brisket which was 50% fat, which any good chef would never serve."
