A word from The Silver Dollar - Priority Seating
The Silver Dollar is a re-imagining of the honky tonks of Bakersfield, CA, circa 1950s, when Southerners transplanted by the Dust Bowl to Southern California created one of the great American musical styles. This music, much of it on original vinyl, spins around the clock at the Silver Dollar, and is served along side craft cocktails and Chef Jonathan Schwartz's made from scratch, Southern-meets-Southern-California cuisine 7 nights a week and for the city's most exciting brunch on Saturdays and Sundays. The restored 1890s firehouse that is home to the Silver Dollar features a 70 seat covered patio.

* This restaurant uses a Priority Seating style of reservation. Priority Seating means that your party will go to the top of any wait list when you arrive at the restaurant, and you will be seated at the first available table that will accommodate your party when your full party is present. • "Great bar, great choices, eclectic food, great service, plays vinyls, a little noisy.....but it's a SALOON! Go and enjoy! We had a great meal, lots of laughter and atmosphere was very relaxed. Enjoyed it thoroughly! We plan to go more often!"

  • "We have been there several times for dinner, which we love, but this was our first time experiencing Silver Dollar's brunch. Absolutely delicious! The best bloody mary I've ever had, the vegetarian biscuits and gravy, the fried oyster sandwich, hashbrowns and pancakes...all amazing!"

  • "Silver Dollar has wonderful southern comfort food, but they play the music loud. It's a little difficult to hold a conversation."

  • "Very good selection of bourbon whiskey and beer. Food was very good as well, especially the pork - ribs and barbeque. Service was friendly and attentive. Worth a visit."

  • "My friends and I enjoyed Sunday brunch recently and I was pleasantly surprised by several vegetarian choices, including the biscuits and vegetarian gravy. While the biscuit was huge and a little too dense for my taste, the gravy was fantastic. My friends ordered chilaquiles and huevos rancheros and they were really good, too. Our server was fantastic. The kitchen missed a few steps by forgetting a side item and bringing out an item that my friend had asked to be cooked differently. We'll definitely go back!"

  • "Went here for my birthday. Service was great and very attentive to our needs. The fried pickles were great and I got the oyster PO Boy. The others got burgers, chili, and a salad and everyone enjoyed and discussed coming back. Great bourbon options also."

  • "New Executive chef took off some favorite and replaced them with some duds...It was "OK", but no longer a place that I will tell people they have to go to. There are too many GREAT restaurants in Louisville to settle for an "OK" expereince."

  • "Long story short, my party (of 4) made priority seating arrangements and we ended up waiting one hour (exactly) for our table. There was no point to us signing up a priority seating arrangement on OpenTable. The parties without reservations were told it would be 45 min - 1 hour. I am very disappointed with the option to do priority seating and the reality that it does not happen. I was also told a timeframe of 15-20 minutes "TOPS" and that just gave false hope. The hostess should give a realistic yet maybe overestimated time frame so I can make a real assessment whether I want to wait. The one hour wait was ridiculous when I had made priority seating arrangements... what is the point when I waited just as long as everyone else."

  • "Chicken and waffles and the drink "Horses Neck" are my favorite things here. Our waitress Robin was fun, friendly and attentive. Love the atmosphere and the vinyl Bakersfield music playing!!!"

  • "This was our first time at The Silver Dollar. From the hostess to the waitress, and from the food to the ambiance, it was an outstanding joint! Our waitress was extremely knowledgable about their beer selection and about the dishes that we had questions about. We highly recommend this restaurant and will be back when the weather warms up to enjoy the outside seating!"

  • "As always, the atmosphere and service was beyond excellent this trip. The food was great as always and the drinks were tasty."

  • "There were seven of us for dinner: pork chops; chicken potpie; salmon with arugala, cauliflower & brussel sprouts); full rack of ribs; and a brisket meal. The pork chops were the best, the potpie was like a chicken vegatable soup with a crust. The ribs were dry, I had to use a knife to cut them apart. The salmon lacked flavoring. The onion rings needed more coating and could have been crisper. The fried okra was fried whole, with a little battering, and were still hard and crunchy. No salt and pepper on the table, soft drinks came in bottles or cans, but no offer of a glass with ice. The lighting was very dim so once it was dark outside, so was the inside."

  • "This restaurant is a hot spot for the neighborhood bar scene. It's crowd is mainly the 20-30's age groups. I found talking very difficult over dinner and the food was OK. I had the chili which was exceptionally good and the fried oysters which were partially cooked and soggy. The chilli I would come back for but only if there is someplace not as loud to sit to enjoy the meal and the company I have. This place is great for the right customer."

  • "Hit up this recommended spot for brunch today with the family. Well worth the trip. Seated quickly thanks to the OT reservation. Server was genuine and friendly. Food was yummy. Had the Texas toast sandwich and wife had flank & eggs. Both were great. Kids split the corncake pancakes which was more than enough for two little ones. Spicy Bloody Mary was nicely done as well. Looking forward to the next trip."

  • "We arrived 10 minutes before our scheduled reservation, but were seated immediately. Our drinks were served promptly as were great as always. We ordered the special - wagyu ribs and lobster, with green beans and mac and cheese as sides. The lobster was tender, the mac well-seasoned and lightly browned, and the green beans perfectly tender with garlic. The ribs were gigantic, but slightly overseasoned, though they were cooked to perfect tenderness. All in all, a great V day night with my honey."

  • "We have visited this restaurant twice in the past six months, once for dinner and once for brunch. During both visits, we were astonished at the quality of the food. The atmosphere is nice but doesn't suggest that the food would be as top-notch as it is. So we went back recently for brunch. Again, the food knocked our socks off, but we had some seating issues this time. First we were sat right by the front door, where the cold wind was hitting us every time it opened. When we requested another table, we were sat under a staircase where cold wind came through the wall behind me. I know it's an old building and there probably isn't much they could do about this."

  • "when mentioned to the server that the on-line menu and in-house offerings do not match, "the owners have been really busy the last month or two and have not had time to update the menu on-line." I expect daily changes, yet this disparity was greater. we settled in and ordered two appetizers and three entrees. I wish we had stopped at the drinks and fried oyster appetizer and headed elsewhere for dinner. I love spices and seasonings to enhance the flavor of food, but there comes a point when more is just more...and Silver Dollar's culinary team definitely provided an abundance of overly seasoned entrees on our visit. again...great selection of bourbons...and the fried oysters were very good."

  • "Went for Sunday Brunch on 1/19/14 and it was FANTASTIC! The biscuit & gravy is awesome. Service was as wonderful as it always is and the atmosphere was exactly what I needed after a night out Saturday. Energetic and vibrant, not too loud and good music playing. Well Done!"

  • "We picked the Silver Dollar as a place to meet friends we had not seen for a while. We were seated as soon as we arrived. From start to finish everything was the way one would want it to be. The service was was both excellent and not intrusive."

  • "We were having a mini-reunion of former co-workers and I picked Silver Dollar because it's always lively, the servers knowledgable and friendly and the food is great. I requested one of the big booths so we could chat more easily and the staff accommodated and it was perfect. My friends had never been here before -- both got the shrimp and grits and said they were awesome! I had the arugala/apple salad and chili (meat, veggies, bean) -- though I want Silver Dollar to bring back their awesome wedge salad, this was good............the chili was, as always, fantastic!! The server made us feel comfortable that it was ok to hang out and chat in the booth even after paying our bill. Thanks for a fun night Silver Dollar Staff -- excellent job!"

  • "We reserved a booth because we had a child in our party. Not only were we not seated in a booth, we were seated at a table right next to the bar and kitchen. BAD, bad, bad. I give this BAR, not family restaurant -1 star."

  • "My husband and I have a list of locally owned restaurants we've been wanting to try and are working our way through it. We went to Silver Dollar one Saturday night and had a delicious meal! The starter of fried okra was a bit lacking in taste, but the lamb shank was heavenly and my husband loved the burger. The best part of the night was our terrific server, Robin. She gave us some outstanding recommendations on beers-she knew her stuff- and was efficient and friendly."

  • "Silver Dollar is a great place to hang with friends and try some unique beers and bourbons. They have a great selection of of wine as well. The food is good with an emphasis on meat.. but I did find with this last visit that the menu has changed a bit. A welcome change for a person with limited taste for red meat.. I had the chicken pot pie and it was huge and yummy! The brisket is amazing! It is a little loud inside in the winter but the summertime al fresco dining is wonderful! Brunch is great too!"

  • "We met some friends there for dinner on Friday. We got there a little early so we decided to have a drink at the bar. The only complaint I have is that we sat there for over 10 minutes without any of the 4 bartenders waiting on us. Once they did, they were super friendly and I loved my Moscow Mule. Once we got to our table, Alissa was our server. She was very friendly and very knowledgable. Overall great experience. We will be back!"

  • "We enjoyed our meal at Silver Dollar. It is a little loud, but wasn't too bad for two people. A larger party at a larger table may have difficulty hearing each other. We had priority seating and were seated immediately when we walked in, even though restaurant was on a wait. There was plenty of seating at the bar so, even if you had to wait, there was a place to hangout. Our server was very nice & spent the time to explain the different beers on tap to my friend. The food was very good, too. I will definitely go back and look forward to a nice evening when the garage door is open. The renovations to the old firehouse are outstanding--great ambience"

  • "Very loud. Recommend for parties of 6 or less, if you want to converse. Service was annoying and pushy. Too attentive. Waitress knew her stuff , she just wouldn't let us relax and enjoy."

  • "This is an extremely informal, boisterous setting, but some of the best Southern-style food I've ever had. Be prepared: portions are heaping. A great value in Louisville dining."

  • "I was in town on business and found the restaurant online. It looked like a good alternative to the typical customer dinner locations. There was a meeting of the young marketing professionals group going on so it was very loud. I would guess this is not a common issue. The food was great and we enjoyed the evening."
