A word from The Silver Dollar - Priority Seating
The Silver Dollar is a re-imagining of the honky tonks of Bakersfield, CA, circa 1950s, when Southerners transplanted by the Dust Bowl to Southern California created one of the great American musical styles. This music, much of it on original vinyl, spins around the clock at the Silver Dollar, and is served along side craft cocktails and Chef Tyler Powell's made from scratch, Southern-meets-Southern-California cuisine 7 nights a week and for the city's most exciting brunch on Saturdays and Sundays. The restored 1890s firehouse that is home to the Silver Dollar features a 70 seat covered patio.

* This restaurant uses a Priority Seating style of reservation. Priority Seating means that your party will go to the top of any wait list when you arrive at the restaurant, and you will be seated at the first available table that will accommodate your party when your full party is present. Diner Reviews
  • "As other reviewers have noted, the noise level gets a little high, but what can you expect from an old firehouse with brick walls and concrete floors? The booths, tables and bar were made of chunky wood and the whole place reminded me of the "after" from one of those restaurant remodeling shows, which was cool and funky. The wait staff were also kind of funky and cool, very friendly and familiar with the menu. My only teensy issue was that the two-top at which we were seated was kind of close to the next table over, so we felt like we were joining the other party! We had a late breakfast on a Sunday morning, and the huevos rancheros were fantastic! Be aware that the SD dog is more like a corn dog, but it was good too. Just not expected."

  • "I was in town for the PGA championship and my boyfriend and I decided to eat at The Silver Dollar. I had a good experience and he did not. We started with the fried pickles and they were excellent. For our main entrees my boyfriend had the ribs, which came with a side of mashed potatoes and I had the chicken and waffles. My chicken and waffles were delicious. He loved his ribs, but his side of mashed potatoes had a hair in it. My food was great, but knowing a meal was served with hair in it freaks me out - which is why I rated this restaurant as just 'good'."

  • "We always get great service, have a great time and enjoy unique tasty food. The chili is fantastic - made with brisket. My husband loved his bbq sandwich and the burger was a hit with my daughter. Well done silver dollar!"

  • "A group of four of us were in town for the PGA championship. We stopped here due to the great reviews and weren't disappointed. We enjoyed the fantastic brisket, ribs, and fried catfish. The gold rush bourbon drink was a winner. Ask for the homemade smoked ketchup. The menu is eclectic and foodie oriented. The ambience is great with lots of outside seating available and classic country music playing overhead. We got our food quickly but had to wait quite a while before our waiter brought our checks. I think he was new."

  • "Silver Dollar is always at the top of my option for a Brunch Location. Unique food options but sure to fit everyone. Moderately priced but worth it."

  • "Loved the outdoor patio and wide assortment of unique and tasty food. Fried pickle appetizer was a hit. The brisket and pulled pork were very tasty and tender. Service was friendly and helpful regarding recommendations. Reasonably priced as well."

  • "The Silver Dollar delivers unique food and a large alcohol selection in a vibrant, country atmosphere. There is a bit of intentional dissonance between the lively, casual atmosphere (Christmas lights decorate the walls) and the unique, foodie menu. The overall experience was very enjoyable."

  • "Our service was great but they had run out of brisket!! The food we ordered was good though. Only complaint would be the level of the music, it wa a tad loud to carry on a conversation."
    Dined on 7/18/2014
  • "Too loud for old folks! Food is unique and tasty but too loud. The turntable playing albums are muffled by the bar noise. Drinks are too small for the price. I eat out a lot and can see this place hopping at night in the area."

  • "The food is delicious and the menu is eclectic enough to appeal to all. The staff was most friendly and quite energetic. My only complaint is that the noise level is so loud that it was difficult to hear our waiter or to converse at dinner. Will definitely go back but more likely at a slower time."

  • "We were visiting Louisville and looking for a casual place offering good food that local folks would go to. The Silver Dollar is it. We sat outside which was a bit quieter than inside, and enjoyed the delectable ribs that fell off the bone. They were tender and juicy without being soggy with too much sauce. At the end of our meal we ordered both dessert being offered, a banana pudding and a simple pie. Both were served warm and were equally delicious. I wish I could remember our servers name because she was very good, courteous and friendly which helped make our experience a good one."

  • "Best brunch in town! If you can't decide, ask your server what their favorite is and get it...everything on the menu is amazing and it's been when I've taken my servers advice that I discover a new favorite! Can't wait for the weekend and another visit :)"

  • "The bar and outdoor seating is nice, the food, out of the party of six of us only two enjoyed or liked what was ordered."

  • "Menu provided multiple choices without being overwhelming. Food was artisan-level. Service outstanding. Music played from records on a turntable, so invite your kids to view so they will know what an "album" is!"

  • "It's been a few days since we enjoyed the Saturday Brunch. It was just awesome. The Coffee Rubbed Flank Steak with eggs was outstanding. The steak was accented by a poblano sauce that was smoky and perfectly tasty. Wow."

  • "One of a kind in Lou, terrific grub, very good service and great atmosphere. Beer and bourbon lists are eclectic and expansive. Food choices somewhat limited, but all above average. Have gone many times, always enjoyed it."

  • "The Silver Dollar was perfect for a casual group dinner with my colleagues, and set the perfect tone for our multi-day meeting in Louisville. The variety of foods and drinks provided plenty of choices for everyone, and each item was delicious."

  • "Looking for a great casual spot for a gathering in Louisville? Silver Dollar hits the mark! Great bourbon list, outstanding southern comfort food and attentive service. Outdoor patio in the back is like eating at a friends backyard barbeque picnic...relaxing and cozy. Try the fried oysters and chicken and waffles...delish!"

  • "Had a great dinner... there really isn't that much for kids to eat, so not really sure its kid friendly, because of the menu. The food we had was awesome! The Bloody Mary's were excellent. Not the traditional heavy tomato version, but a nice flavor."

  • "Outside seating very festive, fun, upbeat. Everyone's french fries soggy, homemade chips looked perfect but tasted burned. had to wait well over 30 min for check. brisket and masked potatoes were to die for. "

  • "This was my second visit to the Silver Dollar and once again the food was delicious. We were there early in the evening and beat the dinner crowd this time, last time it was jammed tight. Love the background music and set-up of this place. The only downside was the barkeep did not make eye contact, we waited to order drinks. We waited longer to order food. We waited for water. We waited for a 2nd drink. We waited for the check. And the whole time there was hardly anyone else sitting at the bar. Don't misunderstand, this was a complete reverse from our previous visit, when the restaurant was crowded and bar full, we got lots of prompt attention, good discussion and great local info. We will be back, the food is great!"

  • "I first ate at The Silver Dollar a few months ago, and fell in love with it! I am a big bourbon fan, so the bar here is perfect for me. The food is delicious, and the ambiance can't be beat. I take all of my out of town guests to The Silver Dollar for a great Louisvillian experience."

  • "I'm worn down by bad food. Do you want your string beans cooked for hours and delivered very over salted with a consistency of mush? Do you want to order a Gin Martini and have to wait 20 minutes, only to be brought a Vodka Martini? On the other side, the catfish was delivered hot and nicely coated with a thin crisp batter, no complaints. Unfortunately, the coleslaw was tasteless. The cornbread was also tastless and only slightly warm, the replacement was even worse and was cooler, not hotter as promised. Our waiter was overwhelmed and many seemed to be bumping into each other. Why is it that they think it impressive not to write your order down. Must they "memorize" it, and then say sorry, while you wait for the correct item? "

  • "Our first time having brunch at Silver Dollar and we were not disappointed! We had a large group that they easily accommodated. The wait staff have excellent recommendations and because we were a larger party, we were able to try several items! The pancakes-best in town, by far...chili cheese hasbrowns-perfectly crispy...shrimp and grits-wow! We will be going back soon!!"

  • "I thought the Silver Dollar experience was simply silver. Not gold or platinum, but silver. Super solid beverage list - and really well made. The food was, well, meh. Would go back to hang outside and have snacks/bevvies. "

  • "I took my wife here for her first Mother's Day Brunch as a new mom along with our 6 month old. Despite fearing that the place would be slammed on this big day we were seated quickly and the service was great. We've been here and both love the dinner menu"

  • "My spouse selected this place for brunch. We've had some trouble finding a place for breakfast or brunch since Lynn's Paradise Cafe closed. The food at Silver Dollar is good and they had a tremendous number of service staff members working on Sunday. My only real complaint was the noise level. The music was great (alternative country, which I really like), but the volume level was more suitable to Saturday night than Sunday morning. "
