The Shores Restaurant - La Jolla Shores HotelI've been a regular customerI've been a regular customer for almost 20 years since moving to San Diego. It's my favorite place to bring my family, friends, and professional guests. Food, service, interior design, and scenic views can't be beat.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMPrimoThis lunch date (first date with new ladyfriend) was a primo experience.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place for breakfastGreat place for breakfast or lunch. Can't ask for better view of ocean and activities.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMHidden GemThe Shores Restaurant is an old-school gem! Fabulous location. Don't tell anyone... keep it our secret.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMfabulous viewIt is right on the beach and has free parking for customers though the garage may be full in the Summer. Great wine list and the servers are pretty well educated on the list. The food is always at least good and occasionally outstanding.
There is always a monthly 3 course special dinner with optional wine-pairings. If you don't want 3 courses they are happy to let you order any of the courses ala carte.
The whole experience is worthy of a special occasion but I don't feel uncomfortable going there in jeans either.
Note: I dine out frequently and there are very few meals that rate a 5 star from me so this is a relatively strong recommendation.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect Mother's Day!Wonderful service! We had a group of 11 with a 5 year old in a full leg cast! No problem! The food for brunch was delicious, varied and well presented. We loved the pate, sea bass and the unusual salads. There was also a table just for kids. The serving area was roomy and provided plenty of room for all diners. We will be back!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AM"The Shores" Buffet on Mother's DayThe price was OK for a Mother's Day Buffet. The buffet was scheduled from 11AM to 7PM and we arrived in at 5PM. The salad buffet was great and had many fresh delicous items. However, the entree buffet line suffered from many very over-tired items. The broccoli looked as if it had been there since the buffet started. The bread was stale and hard. There was no bacon in the bacon/sausage bin. After 6PM, we observed the staff renew some of the buffet items. Dessert serlection was great, but when I went back to the peach cobbler, it had been removed (it was a featured item).5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMSpectacular view and tasty foodWe had a great meal watching the sunset; then had a drink in the bar. Delicious and scenic.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMUnderratedBased on reviews of this restaurant I was not expecting much, but the food was very good and the atmosphere was pleasant. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a casual restaurant near the ocean.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMVery relaxed casual environmentVery relaxed casual environment where the staff is helpful and friendly.
Fish selections were very good. When we wanted to share the staff was very helpful to make that happen with separate elegant use of dishes and presentation. We would love to go back soon.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMOur experiences at The ShoresOur experiences at The Shores are always excellent especially our most recent visit Fri night where Leighton took good care of us.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMlots of locals, food was betterlots of locals, food was better than average, not a huge selection but ok, grea spot for a sunset (I saw the "green flash"), very good for visiting.....not too loud.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMOcean view casual diningGreat for lunch, special occasions, and to for showing off our beautiful San Diego beaches. Food a bit pricey but the view of the ocean is awesome. Double check reservations and menu when booking a large party coz catering depart not very reliable.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food is always good, theThe food is always good, the service is always friendly, the view -- right on the beach -- of the ocean is always perfect.
Thank you, Shores!4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had reservations for 1:30pmWe had reservations for 1:30pm on Easter Sunday. We arrived at 1:25 and were promptly seated at a table with a gorgeous view of the Pacific Ocean. A server was there immediately to explain the brunch and take our drink orders. She returned occasionally to see if we needed anything and was very prompt. I've lived in S.D. all my life (54yrs!) and had never been here before. We will definitely be returning!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMThe fish was cooked just right,The fish was cooked just right, which is very important to me!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways wonderful! It is alwlays a great experience!Thank you.3/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGracious and scenic as everGracious and scenic as ever -- one of the few restaurants, like the Marine Room, right on the beach. New menu: cauliflower soup was excellent, as were mussels frites, and pear salad.1/31/2013 12:00:00 AMNot just hotel food, but theNot just hotel food, but the food was inconsistent. Fish of the day dish was amazing and richly flavorful! My wife's sirloin was overlooked, and my daughter's chicken was leathery. Spectacular views and great service. The fish was worthy of 5 stars; the sirloin: 4. But that chicken was no more than 2.1/1/0001 4:00:00 PM
