"The dishes are small, totally suitable for one person -- not meant for sharing. I was surprised by the fruit & cheese platter, because we ordered it to share amongst 3 people as an appetizer while we drank our first round of wine, but the platter was quite small. There weren't enough nuts to accompany the cheeses and the honeycomb was cumbersome to take off the sheet that was covering the cheeseboard. That sheet was annoying because it kept sliding each time our butter knife would touch it. The baguette that accompanied the cheese platter should have been sliced to prevent the entire thing from falling off each time someone tried to get something off the plate. Overall an A-minus."

"IN a neighborhood with not too many good choices of decent restaurants, The Shop is a great option. I tend to even forget it's even there, but it's a nice space, tables not too close, bright with high ceilings, etc. Menu is a bit boring, but service is nice."

"Went for V-Day dinner & opted for prix fixe menu, $95/couple. Shared app of scallops (very nicely done), shared entré of lobster (drowned in butter but very tender) & shared dessert (while heart-shaped & looked very pretty, as a dessert it was a disaster). I would have preferred to pay a slightly higher price to accommodate more options or larger portions. Our server was extremely nice but the gentleman who initially greeted us clearly needed addt'l training. Decor/lighting/sound were very nice but w/ 1 major exception. The armrests of the chairs are too high for the tables, preventing any part of the seat from sliding under the table and forcing the diner to sit in an awkward manner. Overall ok but too many issues to recommend."

"It's hard to find a good restaurant near grand central that doesn't feel too corporate or is not a heavy steakhouse. I was meeting a couple of girlfriends, and it ended up working out well. Food was very good, ambience was good, service okay enough.I would go back again."

"It is very to hard to find a restaurant like The Shop in midtown. The interior design is very eclectic with a chic downtown vibe, you'd never think you were on 41st street, but mercer street, spring street or hudson street. The farm to table menu is refreshing given all the chains and fast food dining around midtown. The menu is a bit pricey but you get what you pay for and the portions are big. I highly recommend dining here for dinner. Would love to try breakfast or brunch there soon...."
