A word from The Settlers Inn
The Settlers Inn is a place to gather. The arts & crafts decor reflects our emphasis on simplicity & artistry. This commitment is also emphasized through our use of local organic farmers & producers. In the chef owned farm-to-table restaurant, our menu, breads & desserts are all hand-crafted to take advantage of the freshest fruits, vegetables, & herbs of the season. We believe our use of local products helps to continue the tradition of small farming in our community. Our bluestone fireplace entices guests to bask in the warmth of a crackling fire after a day of cross-country skiing, while Summer offers dining alfresco on the terrace.
The Chestnut Tavern offers guests a more casual atmosphere. The wine program is an integral part of the dining experience. Our wine list has received an award of excellence by Wine Spectator for eleven years.

  • "We have dined at the Settler's Inn 4 times now and have never been disappointed. This was the first time for the summer menu and were a little surprised it had an Asian flair. Our other experiences were with Autumn menus. Excellent."

  • "We had visited this restaurant while in PA many years ago and decided to make the trip again, despite the 65 mile trip from NY. It was well worth it. The food, wine and service were all fantastic and the piano player made for very enjoyable evening. Their menu, with farm to table selections, was appealing to any taste and the food was fresh and well presented. Our server was friendly, knowlegeable and we weren't rushed at all. I highly recommend this rare find of a restaurant."

  • "The setting is beautifully restored in the arts and crafts style of the original period, and was the backdrop for a lovely evening. We were greeted by everyone involved in service in a very friendly manner, and they were all eager to help and share their expertise. Peggy, our waitress, was so warm and personable, and the sommelier introduced us to a flight of wonderful white wines which included a fabulous Guigal Hermitage. The food was mostly excellent, and Peggy was very inquiring/receptive to feedback on how to make it even better, claiming that the chef wanted to know what the customers thought. The evening ended delightfully because the bus-boy told us about the fantastic 4th of July fireworks in Hawley which were indeed that."

  • "The quality of the dining experience at Settlers has been consistently excellent over the years. The physical space is charming – enhanced by a very attentive wait-service and a pianist with a delightful repertoire. The onion soup, a favorite of mine, is particularly tasty. If paired only with the Settlers breads, I would leave feeling sated. (I miss the banana bread of days gone by.) The grouper I had for an entree was delicious as were the snow peas which were tastefully crunchy. The folks I dined with were equally satisfied with their choices. Thank you Settlers. We are already looking forward to our next visit."

  • "We live about 25 mins away and this is the second time we have eaten here. Fabulous food, a great classy rustic olde Inn atmosphere and superb service. The live piano music was just the icing in the cake. We are looking forward to the next and next times we go."

  • "This is our favorite restaurant to go to in PA. We are never disappointed. The food is delicious, presentation is upscale and desserts are to die for. The service is just right, not too pushy and not ignored and friendly."

  • "Took my wife here for here birthday. We had one of the best meals ever. Service was very good. Appreciated that the chef stopped by the table to see what we thought. "

  • "Settlers has been a family favorite for many years. However, we dined on June 2, and they were still serving the May menu. At least I'd like to believe that was why the food was not up to par. Sword fish overdone, asparagus the size of a carrot and over cooked. They were running low on scallops and cut them in half to make it look like there was more, instead there were thin scallops that were charred on one pieces and not the other. "

  • "My husband and I ate here for our anniversary. Small menu but the food was delicious. It was very nice to sit out on their patio looking onto their garden. A deer walked through the garden during our dinner experience - nice bonus for a lovely night."

  • "The food was superbly prepared and elegantly served. We were offered a complimentary appetizer of goat cheese, pesto and black garlic which melted in your mouth. The french onion soup was excellent and the entrees exquisite. The wine list is extensive and the prices were very reasonable. I would highly recommend it. "

  • "One of the best places in the Poconos. If you like outdoor dining, the terrace overlooking the garden is lovely. If you choose inside he piano playing and the arts and crafts decor makes the experience special. "

  • "Settlers Inn is a real treat for an evening out or a special occasion. It is a little pricey, but well worth it! The food is exceptional, the waitstaff are excellent, and the atmosphere is wonderful. It is one of our favorite spots"

  • "We so enjoyed great food presented by excellent service. We "need" quiet moments away from our hectic routine. This is just what the doctor ordered."

  • "Warmth is the first word that comes to mind when thinking of the Settlers Inn. The menu is structured to feature a mix of American dishes with a French spin. Light goat cheese and pear tarts occupied the same table as French onion soup and braised lamb. The dining room features a warm comfortable atmosphere and live piano entertainment on our visit. I enjoyed the robust selection of craft beers available including house ales brewed onsite. The French onion soup was rich and paired well with the house-made breads which are provided once you sit down. The Lancaster County New York strip steak featured a rich crust and luxurious in texture. There is no doubt that Settlers Inn can deliver a home comfort meal even when in the mountains. "

  • "Look at the pictures online -- they portray the great experience. It's not possible to be all things to all people, and this place is focused. Youw ill know if it's what you are looking for just by opening the site -- and the food is very well prepared and presented. "

  • "I normally do not dine out on holidays due to the fact that most restaurant meals tend to be uneven at best. However the Settlers Inn was able to impress with a perfect meal. The lamb shank was the best."

  • "I have eaten many times at the Settlers Inn and have always enjoyed it. The food and service are superior. Unfortunately, because it was Mother's Day, they were forced to provide a limited menu in order to maintain their great food and service. I was a little disappointed with the choices but the food and service were up to their usual standards. "

  • "I had not been to Settlers in many years, but I'm pleased to say it is still wonderful. The service was excellant - nice attention to detail . The food was creative. I love the craftsman/mission style decor. The lighting was on the dim side, but I guess that fits with the craftsman theme. There was a bar/lounge with a great beer selection. "

  • "The Inn is well known for its Sunday breakfast and brunch. We attended on Valentine's / President's Day weekend. It was cold and there had been a pretty good snowfall the day before. I was surprised that there were only three other parties there that day (around 11:30 a.m.). The food was very good, except for the fact that it all came out at once. As soon as we got our drinks, the danish were placed on the table, and before we could butter anything, the main course was out. There was no sense of timing to allow us to enjoy our meals. The Inn is also known for its Bloody Mary's - I don't know why. Ours tasted like watered down shrimp cocktail. Luckily the food was presented so quickly we didn't have time to finish them."

It was one of the best meals we have ever had. My husband was very impressed with the beer list and I with the wine list. The service was also impressive. "
