The Settlers InnA Real GemA beautiful building, interesting food, and great service are hallmarks of Settlers Inn, a favorite of ours for many years. It's a destination for us, so we only get there two or three times a year. Our favorite time of year is summer so that we can eat out on the deck overlooking the garden. But the beautiful Arts & Crafts dining room is a treat, too, and shouldn't be missed. The menu offers few conventional choices, so if you're looking for a BLT, Settlers is not the place for you. We were there for lunch recently and my favorite way to enjoy that meal with friends is by ordering a several starters and finishing with soup. The management is caring and the staff is supporative and helpful. The rooms are wonderful. The dining room food is a bit expensive and elaborate for my taste. Breakfast and lunch are good. However, the Sunday Brunch is wonderful. The catering is also excellent. The Brunch has an complete menu and very reasonably priced. Try to get on the outdoor deck! The service was rather slow on the Frday we were there. We waited for desert to be served we were ready to cancel our order. It was explained that there was a back up in the kitchen but we were not offered complimentry coffee or anything to help with the wait. The Butter Lettuce salad with slivered almonds and strawberries had a dressing that made this one of the best salads ever. The Open Ravioli with ricotta cheese, honey, and green garlic was the perfect balance between sweet and savory. The only thing better than the food was the service, which was outstanding, as always. The beautiful centerpiece of the room with the bunny in the live grass with eggs just added to the festive feel. They both were delicious. Then we had the carrot-mint soup yummy yummy. I had the eggplant,avocado, goat cheese etc sandwich it was to die for super delicious. My partner had the chicken cobb salad which he loved. We also had the toffee desert which was super delicious. We wish the place was closer so we could go once a week. The chef did a fabulous job. This is the first time that I have seen the Prix Fix menu ($35.00) and an option for four pared wnines ($13.50) which we took advantage of.
