Diner Reviews
  • "Booked a family dinner for Mom's birthday during restaurant week, the waiter Christos was amazing! The food was high quality, delicious, service was impeccable, overall a very memorable event and evening."

  • "We went for restaurant week and we had dinner. Everything was brilliant! This is one of my favorite restaurants in the city."

  • "The service and food were very good BUT they have a serious fly problem. Small gnats and some larger flies were everywhere. We were seated iside by a window loking out to the garden and were plagued by several large flies. We asked to change our table and were accomodated but there were gnats flying about that we had to keep shooing away. A trip to the ;adies room showed just how bad the problem was as the water around the sink was full of drowned gnats. I will not return to this restaurant until the dead of winter."

  • "The Sea Grill is fantastic! Went for restaurant week and the food/drinks were absolutely incredible! The chef even made us something extra for every table. The service was outstanding. When we ordered things to share (like soup), he brought it out separated for us. He also gave us little sweets at the end with the check. He was so accomodating, kind, and knowledgable. The pace was great - didn't rush us at all and didn't take too long between courses. Wonderful, beautiful views and ambience. Truly loved everything about it!"

  • "I took my wife and my friend out. It was my friend's birthday and it was restaurant week. Overall all the food was good but not great. The ravioli was the best part of the price fixe meals. The desserts were good. The appetizers were also good as well. The service and staff was excellent. Would definitely come back during restaurant week but I am not sure if I would be back on a regular day as the place is pricey for the food that was served (not pricey for restaurant week)."

  • "The food is amazing - participated in Restaurant Week and it was fantastic. HOWEVER, the serivce was horrible. Took over 20 minutes for our waiter to come by and take our orders, got our beverage orders wrong, never came by to offer beverage refills, came back to check on each course as we finished and just poor rude service. We had to ask for desserts that were included in the Restaurant Week menu. Despite great food, the service ruined the night for me and my guest."

  • "Our last night in NYC we decided to make last minute reservations at the Sea Grill. It did not disappoint. Table outside was great. Food and service were good. Fresh seafood and creative drinks. Nice wine list too!"

  • "The food is quite average... The only good thing is it's right under Rockefeller. Other than that... Nothing special to note. And expensive too."

  • "It took forever for the courses to come out and after the appetizer I felt like leaving. At one point, I even forgot what I ordered. The experience was muted and felt very blah. Would be very hesitant to go back. The first time I went I felt it was a great restaurant."

  • "Had dinner here with some old friends during restaurant week. 1 friend got her appetizer about 15-20 minutes before I did, we received our entrees much after others around us (who came after us) and just received a 'sorry'. Too bad because we were all looking forward to a nice dinner in the city. Dinner was a whole 2.5 hours, which would have been nice if most of that time wasn't spent waiting."

  • "Been here for dinner several times and am never disappointed."

  • "Went for restaurant week dinner. Started with the fried rock shrimp with ramen noodle salad,,very tasty. My friend had the sushi roll also good though the crab flavor kind of got lost amidst the sauces.. Then we split the branzino, also tasty, a couple of errant bones, served with summer squashes. Desserts were nice as well as mussel amuse bouche. I had not been to this restaurant in years and feel that the ambiance was better when the "inside" restaurants also had tables on the plaza and a view of plaza now mostly obscured. Also the music from the bar on plaza did not add to the "fine dining" experience. Appreciated the reduced price wine bottles on the RW menu!"

  • "My boyfriend and I made a reservation for restaurant week , when we got there hosttes was not very welcomy, we sat at the corner where most of the couples sit, the place it self look very nice , unfortunately service was not the best, the server took a long time to approach to our table , we order the restaurant week menu and we added a Bottle of wine and some oyster , for our appetizer we order the sushi roll and the ceviche , when the appetizer arrive to the table we got everything except the soy souce for the sushi and the ceviche need it a little more flavor . After all we were trying to make the best of our date night and Try not to complain, but our fellow dinners that were sitting in the same section decide to get up and complain ."

  • "Incredibly slow service. Restaurant Week portions small and uninteresting. Nice place nonetheless. Not up to usual standards."

  • "We arrived with a reservation and were seated immediately with a wine list and no menus. 20 minutes later I was finally able to flag someone down to provide us menus. Another 20-25 minutes passed before the waiter we sought out showed to take our order. "I hear you're ready to order," he stated. Now, I don't need over-friendly servers, but he was downright rude considering we had been there 45 minutes and no one had even come to take our drink order. Then of course the bar was "busy", so the drink took at least another 15 minutes. Sure it's Restaurant "week", but there were plenty of empty tables inside and out, so I can't explain the poor service except for maybe "they" just didn't see us."

  • "We look forward to Restaurant Week and always return to The Sea Grill. As usual there was some wonderful food: we were offered a great amuse bouche, and the first course, flash fried rock shrimp ramen noodle salad, was memorable. We remarked that this was satisfyinhg enough to be our entire meal, and for a while it seemed as if it would be: nothing else was brought to our table for 50 minutes. Empty water glasses and drink glasses and the amuse bouche plate sat and sat as servers and busboys breezed past. Eventually we were served a complete meal but it took a very long time. Curious: in the past we've had excellent service."

  • "I visited this place with my coworkers for restaurant week experience and the food was good, the atmosphere was cozy and nice. But our waiter had some problems. He was a bit rude to us and when I asked something, his attitude was like "I told you before" What. Is there a problem when a customer asks something once again and repeat it as a waiter? That waiter was terrible for service job. I don't want to go back to this place because of him."

I advise everyone to try the flash fried rock shrimp and ramen noodle salad, as well as the suckling pig confit!! Delicious does not begin to describe it!!"

  • "The Sea Grill is among the top seafood restaurants in NY and is in one the most special settings. The ambiance is also very appealing and low key and the service exceptional. The wonder is that more New Yorkers don't flock here - it is not the tourist spot some may fear. I come here as often as I can."

Our waitress was delightful, the food was delicious and the whole evening was terrific! The extra touches (tasting spoons with the appetizers and bite-size sweets with dessert)were the icing on the cake! It was truly an evening to remember!"

  • "I was in NY for the weekend and was looking for something close to the theater district. This is right in Rockefeller plaza, and we dined outside, which was beautifully set up in Aqua and white. Our waiter was fun and suggested a wonderful wine. We has the lobster pre fixe menu for $55 a person and the lobster pot pie was so delicious and memorable. I will absolutely come back next time I am in town."

The fish was fresh and beautifully presented. We were surprised by a special anniversary dessert. We will go back again and again."

  • "We were so very pleased with The Sea Griill restaurant after almost a 20 year span of time from our last visit. Everything from ambience, waitstaff and menu were perfection for our dinner experience. Completely changed from what we had remembered. Knowledgable waitstaff, extraordinary chef beautiful interior, and the freshest fish, plated and served without fanfare- just pure simplicity, on a pristeen canvass. We enjoyed and devoured every morsel from start to finish. Do have a meal here today if you can and ASAP also. We can't wait to go back-"

  • "With sea foam green tones and moderate noise level it is a cool respite among the chaos in Rockefeller Center. But it looks out on the plaza and you feel you're a part of the energy without the assault that goes with it. Lovely location. Food and service we very good. Of course it's all about the seafood. Pricey like all midtown eateries but relative to the others fair value."

  • "Food was very disappointing. Crab cakes had more breadcrumbs than crab, also not warm. Seafood chowder not warm enough, lacked seasoning so was very bland. Spinach looked old and tired. Carmelised Fig dessert tasted old, cold and unappetizing. Only bright spot was attentive server. Will NEVER return. First visit in 10 years. Used to love this place. Tremendously expensive, I felt ripped-off!!! Totally spoiled a 35 th Anniversary celebration of my sister/ husband who were visiting from Scotland."

  • "I took my sisters to The Sea Grill Friday night, which was a first for them. The restaurant did a terrific job in making it a special evening with its usual attentive service. All of our appetizers and entrees were delicious. One of my sisters only eats vegetables and the entree that was prepared was both beautiful in presentation and perfect for her tastes. The Spicy Tuna roll was a great starter and the Arctic Char was poached to perfection. While the ambiance is probably best with the winter rink activity in the shadow of the Christmas Tree, the restaurant also has a festive feeling with the summer outdoor seating. The prices are not cheap, but the Sea Grill provides a quintessential New York evening for both tourists and residents."
