Diner Reviews
  • "We were new to the area and it was July 4th rain every where, but the Goose did us well. We had a late night dinner as a mater of fact we closed the place at 11PM, not so late for July 4ht. Food was fresh , hot and served with a smile. Nice to have a good fine when you are wet and soggy. Look forward to coming back. Don"

  • "This was the third time we have eaten here. It seems to improve each time. The previous visit we had discussed wines to have with oysters , with the wine expert whose name I can't remember, and this time they had muscadet by the glass which was great both with my oysters and tuna. Only issue is xs noise and music too loud for my taste. One of our favorite local dining spots!!!"

  • "The Sea Goose is an outstanding seafood restaurant, with the freshest of fish and shellfish. Andrew is a master, with NYC credentials, and he sets the bar for excellent food and service. The ambiance is comfortable and friendly with a seaside palette, and open floor plan. When in Westerly, this is the place to go!"

  • "If you check out the Sea Goose, you have to order the oysters! They're great."

  • "This was our first visit; we came after hearing many positive reviews from friends. Overall the food was very good; perhaps not outstanding, but definitely worth future visits. There are so few really good restaurants that are able to survive in the Westerly/Charlestown area that any newcomers are welcomed with open arms. One REALLY big plus for the Sea Goose is they take reservations -- unlike that other raw bar/seafood place further up the road."

  • "My family and I went here for my birthday dinner last weekend. The woman who greeted us had an attitude. She seated us, and ordered drinks. from the time we sat down, to the time we got our food, was an hour and 15 min. The waitress seemed pretty busy, but after getting our drinks, it was a solid 45 min untill she came back to get our food order.. The food on the menu was pretty pricey, so I had high hopes for the food. But that wasn't the case. Everyone enjoyed the food, but I wasn't blowen away. It was good, but not great. Then, at the end of the meal, i found out that my family had called ahead to have a birthday cake brought out to the table, which never happend. All in all, the prices were too high for the food, and the service sucked"

  • "My husband and I were celebrating his birthday, and your Sea Goose is perfect for special occasions! Your food and severs made us feel like royalty. Of course, we were there early (5:30) so it wasn't crowded, but your restaurant was filling up by the time we left. My husband was so pleased with his Shrimp Etoufee special. The seasoning tasted so authentic without being overly hot. My grilled salmon was cooked to perfection and melted in my mouth. I liked the butternut squash risotto and spinach, too. Everything on my plate went well together. Your lobster bisque was also very tasty, with a generous amount of lobster. It was a delightful birthday celebration!"

  • "We have been here about 7 or 8 times. The food is great and consistent. The wait staff couldn't be nicer. We always look forward to passing through Westerly so we can have a great dinner. We have recommended it to everyone we know. Try it - you will be very pleased with your decision and become regulars just like we did!!"

  • "Excellent selection of oyster & great seafood. Our first visit here - but a little disappointed on the location. Inside was clean & attractive - just located in the midst of shopping plaza"

  • "We had a party of 8. 4 children 4 adults. We were pleasantly surprised with a round table! Our waiter Michael was amazing! He was very attentive and friendly. Our food was delicious. We had the ninigret oyster special with the wasabi ponzu sauce. INCREDIBLE!!!! We also had the Asian calamari which was SO yummy as well! The chowder was delicious too. My Cobb salad was nothing to write home about, but still good. Kids loved their food and the other adults ejoyed the soft shell crab and salmon as well. (All were in the 'clean plate club'.). ;) We will be visiting the Sea Goose often this summer!!"

  • "We have had mixed experiences here. This was our fifth visit, not the best nor the worst. We did sit in the lower section by the windows, not the best place to sit for dinner as there isn't really a good view. The service was good. The oysters were amazing. Dinner was ok. Dessert is a must."

  • "Great local gem with super service and great seafood! If you're staying in the Watch Hill or Wesley area on vacation add The Sea Goose to your dinner list - you won't regret it!"

  • "Great Service but the food left our party of five diappointed and they said they would not go back. My mother in law ordered prime rib and although it was a very large cut it was mostly fat, the burger was ordered rare and it was well done, the clams with whole bellys were good. Swordfish was a special and i asked if it was a nice thick slice and was told it was but when it came out is was thin and just not that good. To bad as the restaurant has great character and might be fun for a drink and raw bar but now i won't be able to get my husband back there."

  • "I had the fried clams, they were sweet, absolutely delicious, and fried to perfection. I had the clam chowder, again delectable. I opted for the mash potatoes instead of french fries, they were very good, but they were'nt served very hot. The waitress we had that evening could not have been any better, she was very professional, and took care of everything we needed. We plan on coming back for the fish and chips, we've heard they're quite good, and reasonably priced."

  • "Not the romantic restaurant we were hoping for. The vibe was completely different from what we were lead to believe from the person that recommended it. There was no ambience and the food was mediocre at best. I had the flounder and it came as basically flounder "bits" with green beans. Very unimaginative. Not for foodies or for those who are looking for a fine dining experience. "

  • "The baked stuffed lobster was absolutely yummy. The stuffing on top was buttery and so tasty and the lobster meat was not overcooked or dried out. The other entree chosen was the seafood stew, which is always very good. We had a nice bottle of albarino with our meals. We really appreciate that there are new wines (and wine specials) to try by the bottle or by the glass at reasonable prices. The Sea Goose never disappoints!"

  • "Food was average, prices were too high for the quality/amount. Gulf shrimp cocktail was a bit overcooked. Scallops were a little underdone. That being said, I was not there for any raw bar, so I cannot comment on that and it may be great. Our server was wonderful and it's a really cool looking place."

  • "We had a great meal on Sat night. All food was delicious and it was nice and close by. It was very convenient to be able to make a reservation online. The only downside was that I added a note on my reservation about wanting a table rather than a booth and that was forgotten when we arrived. We waited a couple of minutes for the table to be cleared, but a couple of minutes? Hardly a problem. Everyone on staff was very friendly although by the third person to come by and ask how our meal was...I was starting to wonder if they knew something I didn't! The Seagoose will be our "go to" restaraunt when we get to the beach just like the Cooked Goose is for breakfast."

  • "Driving to westerly from coventry we knew the seafood was going to be good from a prior trip. Flounder is fantastic as where the array of oysters. What was unexpected was a "prime dry aged" nearly 4+ in thick steak special at 28$ This was one of the best steaks I have had anywhere in RI including the 40+ dollar steak meccas. Over all both times we have had fantastic service and from apps to dessert no one in our party left even a speck of food on their plates. Recommend with no reservations to anyone who enjoys quality food at reasonable prices."

  • "My recent visit to the Sea Goose was disappointing. The meal was fair, desserts were good, but the loud noise of the bar interrupted our dining experience. Our waitress was excellent, very personable, but we are not likely to return."

  • "We had amazing service with Melissa. The Country Pate is some of the best I've had! The clams casino special was to die for. I had the lobster roll and I was a little disappointed. It wash/t very hot, the sherry butter sauce wasn't very good and for a "giant" lobster roll is was mostly bread. My husband had the clams bolognese and it was DIVINE. My son had the Flounder also excellent. We will return but I won't order the lobster roll. The kitchen should take note not to deliver the meals too quickly, ours showed up before we were 1/2 way through the pate. We'll give it another try for sure."

  • "Just dined at the Sea Goose this past Saturday evening. It was our third dining experience there and, as before, we were not disappointed. The staff was friendly, smiling, and accommodating for special drink requests and food substitutions. The meals (Chicken Diablo, Shrimp and Andouille Jambalaya, Seafood Stew, Halibut special, oysters, steamers, and calamari, cheesecake, and Crème Brule ) were well-prepared, portioned appropriately, tasty, and nicely presented. Drinks (Guinness, Prosecco, Negroni, Chardonnay) were icy and refreshing. Don't hesitate to try the Himalayan Red Rice...it is nutty, chewy, and delicious."

  • "We had a great meal. Waitress was very good and pleasant. I had the stuffed lobster which was delicious. The tail was split making it easier to get the meat out. My husband had the special surf and turf of Veal & Scallops. He cannot eat lobster or shrimp so this was a great combo for him. The veal chop was done to perfection! It did get a bit loud but there are other local restaurants that are louder."

  • "I took my wife and daughter out for Valentine's day to the Sea Goose Grill and Raw bar. We had a great time, we scored a great booth that had far more than enough room for the three of us. Pretty sure we got the booth because everyone else was a couple. Our server was engaging, and kept my daughter going throughout our meal. We started off with a dozen oysters, all very fresh. We then had the Point Judith Fried Calamari which was a very solid choice. It was actually too much, as I was nearly full by the time my dinner came. I had the flounder which had a bit too much lemon for me. My wife had the lobster roll which she said was great and my daughter had chicken fingers. All in all a good visit and we look forward to an adult visit."

  • "It took 20 mins to get served at the bar but our drinks were very good. Once we got seated, our server was very nice and we had some delicious ninigrets. Our apps were very good too. Everything was great until our entrees came out. I ordered the Filet and Crab Cake...the crab cake was bigger than my "fillet" which was really a 1/2" thick piece of sirloin. My meal was $28...it was worth $20. My fiancé got the salmon which was supposed to be medium rare but it was completed white. It came with "butternut squash risotto" which was plain risotto with cubes of squash. And the portion size of the entrees left us leaving saying "where are we going to get something else to eat?" In the end I would only recommend it for drinks, apps and oysters."

  • "We enjoyed ourselves very much and most everyone enjoyed their meal. Excellent crab cakes and gin gimlets!!! Wine was great as well. We were a party of 8 and our server did a great job. We have been back since and plan on returning again sometime in the future. Everyone in the are should give it a try."

  • "Oysters were plump, fresh, and tasty with several varieties available. Asian calamari was well spiced, tender and wasabi aioli was great for dipping. Service was friendly and efficient. Chowder was creamy, lobster roll and clam roll had generous portions. We will be back for more."
