The Scarlet Tree reviews from OpenTable diners
  • Relaxed and tasty

The food was very good! They offer a wide variety of tasty treats without giving too many choices. We ate in the upstairs portion of the restaurant which seemed to be unfinished. The employee break room was up there so we could see and hear employees talking and hanging out. There was also what looked to be a bar area in the corner of the room but it was not cleaned up or set up for anything. Our waitress was wonderful! She was friendly and attentive even though she had to climb the stairs to get to us. We arrived at 6:30 and there were only about 4 people dining at that time so it was pretty calm and easy to talk with eachother without noise getting in the way.

  • There are much better brunch places

The less than enthusiastic hostess seemed put off by a request to sit upstairs instead of waiting for a seat downstairs during a busy weekend brunch. We waited for a while for the harried wait staff to take our order, and when it got to us, it was a bit cold. But it wasn't the server's fault. The owner should have managed his resources better, and should give his staff a talk about attitude with customers. Not going back to this place again.

  • Maybe they have some new cooks,

Maybe they have some new cooks, but its a bad sign when your waiter offers to take a dish back before even placing it on the table because the omelette. Also, my corn beef hash came with "poached" eggs that were actually boiled all the way through, so had to request that they re-do the eggs. Not good for a place that was once known for breakfast food. On the upside, the waiter was very good.

  • What reservation?

We showed up with 15 people and they had no reservation. When I mentioned it was booked on Open Table, the hostess said, "Oh, we don't usually get those. It's best to just call." They managed to get us in and then the food was great, but with a group of kids we waited FOREVER for the bill and payment. Not a great experience this visit. I had chosen it assuming it would be good for a group and kid friendly, and it was neither.

This was our first time at the Scarlet Tree in its "new" home. (How long has it been now? 2? 3 years?) Totally enjoyed it. The grilled chicken sandwich was wonderful!
