A word from The Savoy
The Savoy brings a globally inspired seafood concept to Wicker Park in a cozy yet chic nautical themed space. The menu ranges from raw bar items such as East and West coast oysters to Alaskan snow crab. Coconut red curry mussels and a crab cake with smoked jalapeno sour cream serve as exotic beginnings. A variety of inventive fish dishes await you as entrees. Pork belly, Berkshire pork chop and a bone-in ribeye are offerings from the prairie. The Savoy also offers an unparalleled beverage program that ranges from a vintage cocktail list inspired by pre-prohibition era cocktails as well as modern selections, an eclectic wine and beer list and a wealth of alluring absinthe and spirits. The space itself is built for destination place guests. The restaurant opens into a wood laden raw bar then eases into a main dining space that gives way to a bar that glows with the warmth of soft Edison lighting. And if that's not enough, a low lit lounge awaits you in the darker recesses of The Savoy.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "The Bloody Mary with oyster was Fantastic! & crawfish Benedict was amazing!!!"

  • "Once again, The Savoy was wonderful. It may be because of the company I had this particular evening, but it was the best experience yet. The ambiance of the back room was delightful. As usual, the crabcake, thick and mostly crab instead of breading, was superb, as well as the scallop. The star though, other than my date, was the Black Cod; light and flaky, but still hearty with the poached egg and spaghetti squash. The ahi tuna entree was generous and was seared almost perfectly (maybe a tad to much on one side on the edges), seasoned well on sitting on top of a grain salad (farro) and a slight base of gezpacho verde. Service was attentive as usual, although the hostess somehow didn't mark me down for arriving for my reservation."

  • "I had bought a Groupon for brunch for 2 since this place had good reviews and is in my neighborhood. The decor is nice, the people were friendly, the food however left a lot to be desired. I did get a bloody mary that was good, but for the actual food it was a different story. I ordered the Crawfish Benedict and my husband ordered the Breakfast Wrap and we got a side of bacon. The Crawfish Benedict, I could not even eat it was so horrid tasting and the bacon was thick and not crispy...more like rubber, which I just cannot do. My husbands wrap was ok, but really lacked any flavor and on top of it, they didn't even have salt and pepper on the table and with the lack of spices, that would have helped a bit. Needless to sy, we will not be back."

  • "We had brunch at the Savoy on Sunday and could not believe how fast it went downhill since our last visit. I had the new shrimp po boy, which was terrible - soft bread, soggy and not at all a po boy.. But, the worst part of our meal was our server!!! It was the worst service any of us have had in years! It took her over 30 min to bring our drinks.. We were seated in the bar area - so, we just saw them there waiting for us.. We kept trying trying to get her to notice.. That didn't work. Then she only brought part of food order - she never came back - we had to get another server to bring out the rest of the order, 15 min later! It was a very strange.."

  • "Can't believe I haven't been here sooner - incredible food, served late on the weekends, and a drink menu that invites exploration alongside outstanding service. Looking forward to coming back."

  • "We had quite a few dishes split between three people and all of them were awesome. The ahi was a smaller portion than the steak and pork chop ordered, but it was incredibly tender and flavorful. The pork chop was massive and tasty. The steak had bleu cheese fluff that was really fun! We also all enjoyed the powerful punch of the Death in the Afternoon cocktail. My partner and I are from out of town, but the friend we were visiting can't wait to go back!"

  • "Seems to be a hot spot for 20's-something and locals for brunch. Loud background noise. Food is ok, but limited brunch menu. Interesting experience, but don't need to return."

  • "The food was delicious - we were mmmm'ing the whole way through out meal. My salad nicoise was delicious and the crawfish benedict was unbelievable. The service was also very good. The only minor issue we had was that my salad came without green beans (an essential ingredient of a nicoise salad) and no one mentioned it or asked if I wanted a substitute. Only when I asked was I told that they were out of green beans. But, when I asked for a substitute, they were more than happy to accommodate with asparagus, which were delicious."

  • "We went for our second time this past weekend. Both times, the food was fantastic. Great fish with nice flavors to complement the food. And the service was excellent."

  • "Great food, fresh, thoughtful and well executed. Nice little bar. It's a neighborhood Gem and I hope for my own selfish reasons, will stay as a kept secret."

  • "Nice and cozy brunch spot Good selection of delicious brunch items - more savory than sweet Will recommend the crawfish Benedict French toast Parking was a pain on the busy Milwaukee street on Sunday noon but food made up for it Wait staff was helpful and props to the manager/server who waxed Eloquent about a stuffed French toast item on the menu Do it already !! Will be back!"

  • "I was surprised by the online reviews on Yelp and elsewhere as well as the fancy website. Unfortunately the food was a major disappointment for the prices they charge. We ordered several appetizers, fish and chicken dishes. My fish (black cod), was barely 3 ounces, tasteless, and was put on top of some noodles floating on watery cream sauce. It killed my appetite. The full size of salad of kale, cauliflower BURRATA & CRISPY VEGETABLES, was awful with no taste whatsoever served in a small appetizer plate. My friend's chicken dish ROASTED POUSSIN was so overcooked that it wasn't roasted anymore. I do not recommend this restaurant. Overrated and bad food!"

  • "Our server, Paco, walked us through drink choices and menu selections while demonstrating knowledge of the unique menu items and wine pairings. He was very personable and made us feel right at home, providing stimulating conversation when returning to our table each time. The food did not disappoint either. My husband had the raw oysters and said they were fresh, as well as the tuna which was also tender and tasty. I had the crab cake with mustard and celery root, YUM, and the pork belly with scallops. The pork belly was so good on its bed of kale, prune puree and cherry reduction, I think the plate would have been complete even without the scallops, but they were good too. Over all, it was a good experience."

  • "I found the brunch menu rather odd. There were three in my party and all of us ordered different items. We passed plates for a tasting experience and of the three of us, one was moderately pleased and the other two very dissatisfied. I found the saucer style champagne glass a less than adequate portion to serve an $8 mimosa. Our server, Paco Z per the receipt, was awesome. He was both accommodating and entertaining."

  • "The cocktails were fun and I generally had a good time. The food was good, when it finally got to our table. My Ahi tuna was overcooked but it was still good. We ordered about 9;30 and got our dinner around 11pm, at which point I was more ready to just go to bed then eat dinner. I had a good time but in a neighborhood with so many new restaurants the service should be better. The waitress was actually pretty good. I blame the kitchen staff: I was sitting near the kitchen and could plainly see only one out of four guys in the kitchen was doing anything. Honestly the two hour wait for food really messed up our plans for later and killed the romantic mood of the evening."

  • "The good was on par as usual. Excellent -- very flavorful. The service was not top notch. We had to track our waitress down. However, the food is worth it."

  • "Wonderful ambience, fantastic oysters, and of course absinthe. Can't get much better than that. The bartender was very knowledgeable, entertaining, and friendly. The cauliflower salad was to die for."

  • "We went for dinner on a Saturday night with another couple. We got drinks, apps, and entrees. The apps were very good - we got the ceviche (needed a bit more salt) and the scallops (amazing!). For entrees two people got the ahi regular and one person got the ahi light fare (served with rice and a salad). Everyone said they were happy with their selection. I got a half dozen oysters and the burrata salad for my dinner. The oysters were good, but a little watered down - maybe they washed them (hate that) or whoever shucked/carried them had allowed some of the water/ice from the tray to get into the shell. The burrata salad was fine; kind of an odd mix of ingredients, but I ate it all. Service was a little slow, but that was fine with us."

  • "Waitress forgot when we ordered a second round of mimosas, but that was the ONLY thing that went wrong with this meal. Crawfish Benedict in particular was outstanding. Would recommend The Savoy to anyone for an upscale brunch in a heartbeat."

  • "Food high quality, length of time from ordering food and drinks to receipt was excessive."

  • "My husband and I loved the food and the overall experience. Our waiter was not great. He was stressed and short wit everyone even his colleagues. Thank god everyone else was great! We will be back!"

  • "I found The Savoy on Open Table when I began searching for a place to host my birthday dinner and the assistance I received from their event coordinator was amazing. Since I'd never been here, I decided to give their brunch a try before having 15 of my friends join me for dinner. It's a small restaurant, but the ambiance was great!! The food was not what I am typically used to, but it was delicious nonetheless. The drink menu is great!!! They have a small kitchen, so you know the quality of the food is awesome. It's a definite Saturday/Sunday Brunch spot, with great shopping to walk off the food."

  • "My friend and I decided to try the savoy on a Saturday morning. It made us uneasy immediately as when we walked in there was next to no one in the restaurant. Not a great sign. Slowly the crowd started building up and we got more hopeful. The decor was pleasant and so was our server but the place smelled a bit like a mixture between seafood and a toilet. Our food took a while and looked good when we received it but it was cold and relatively flavorless. Coffee was okay but all in all not worth it at all."

  • "I've walked past this place numerous times and finally decided to give it try. Everything we ate was great, but the portion sizes are quite small for the price. Either way it's a great place to get an appetizer and wine with friends or a significant other. Our waiter was a bit all over the place and had to confirm twice what we had ordered, but he was friendly. Luckily we were in no hurry."

  • "We had a large party and they served us quickly and with a friendly smile. They also tolerated my pestering questions about absinthe, so awesome"

  • "Just wanted to The Savoy this past Saturday for brunch. Got the restaurant week menu which included an appetizer, main entree and dessert. The appetizer (oysters) and main entire (Salmon and waffle) were amazing, but the dessert was only so-so at most. Also got a Bloody Mary, which is one of the best I have ever had. Overall - I would come back to this please, just would not order dessert."

  • "Saturday brunch. The hostess was on the phone when we arrived so we waited a few minutes but she seated us promptly once she hung up. We ordered coffee, which came fairly quickly but never got refilled, even after our food arrived. There were only two waitresses in sight and one assistant/bus boy. Our waitress had friends/acquaintances sitting at the bar and she spent most of our time there talking with them. I had to flag her down to get refills on coffee and water two different times. We also waited 15-20 minutes to pay after we requested the bill. The food was very good, and a good portion size. The restaurant had a nice ambience for a quiet saturday morning meal. I would give a 5-star rating had the service been better."

  • "Unfortunately the night we had reservations was also the night there was a large party there. Our three courses took 2 hours and 45 minutes, which is longer per course than Next, Alinea, Grace, Elizabeth, and Goosefoot. I understand large parties throwing a wrench into things, but the place wasn't packed so it really shouldn't have done so. They seemed ill-prepared to have more than a few customers. Also the interior could use a refresh. On the plus side everyone was very nice & they did send out some delicious scallops to tide us over while we were waiting for our main courses to come. The cocktails were excellent, they have the largest absinthe menu in the nation, and all of the courses we had were great as well. Especially the black cod"

  • "This is an awesome place to get fish in the city at a reasonable price. We went for restaurant week and the service was excellent. They do brunch every day and I highly recommend it."

  • "I was excited to eat at The Savoy for restaurant week, but it let my table down in a big way. The issue was service. We had cocktails a couple appetizers and then 5 of us ordered the Prix Fixe menu, but it took over 2 hours for our entrées to arrive with gaps of half an hour or more between courses. There is no excuse for the kitchen not prepared for prix fixe orders resting in such a wait and clearly the kitchen was having issues since my friend's whitefish was perfect, but my pork chop and another friend's swordfish were both dry and with cold sides. The one assurance that our entrees were coming, a well seasoned bite followed by a lengthy and vigorous chew, and the comped glass of wine that I received did not make up for it."

  • "Arrived at 5.30, place was empty when we sat down and ordered. Dinner didn't come until 7pm. Doesn't matter if it's Sat night or restaurant week, that is terrible. Not going back. If you spend 150 on dinner, you expect a lot better. Food was too expensive for what we got with poor service."

  • "Everything was above expectation during Restaurant Week. The ambience in the front area was a bit chilly and felt segregated from the rest of the restaurant, but the attentiveness of the waitstaff made up for it. The food was actually unique and worth braving the inclement weather."

  • "Been hearing about The Savoy for awhile and was excited to try it out. Unfortunately, the dishes we tried (harachi appetizer, two salads and the norwegian salmon) were all bad to middling and really pricy. Definitely would suggest spending dollars elsewhere. Also, our waiter was covering the whole back room and was hurried and rushed, and even though we spent around $70, treated us as second class citizens because we weren't ordering drinks. Disappointing, to say the least."

  • "If your looking for something on the upper end of dining experiences in Chicago, this is one you must have on your list. The Savoy has a unique bar list including absinthe based drinks which I had never had before- very cool. The ceviche was very tasty as was the Black Cod which was out of this world! My date and I really enjoyed the whole experience. The waiter we had really contributed to setting the whole dining experience on the right tone for it was obvious he really enjoyed food. His explanation of the dishes had you tasting them before you even saw them. Great place!"

  • "We had high expectations after reading all of the great reviews. The mussels as an appetizer were the best part of the meal. The special (fish) was bland and the S'mores Dessert was definitely over-rated."
