The SavoyEverything was wonderful! The food and teh service were fabulous, as were the drinks. I had the special, the octopus risotta- Yum!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious Drinks, Creative BrunchCereal milk drinks are really interesting and delicious. I'm not a huge fan of milk cocktails, but I think these are definitely worth a try. My bloody mary was incredible and came with an oyster and a big hunk of bacon. Our server was fantastic and really gave us some good opinions. The food was not traditional brunch fare (omelettes, benedicts, etc), but had some really creative options like shrimp etouffee, banana bread french toast (INCREDIBLE), and new takes on old favorites (lox on toast points with pork belly cream cheese, pickled onions, and toasted capers).
Overall this was a great find, not too expensive for brunch but has a great vibe (not overly popular, yet).5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Brunch SpotSeafood focused neighborhood spot in Wicker Park. My favorites have been the Shrimp Etouffee and the Lobster Mac and Cheese. Unfortunately, the lobster BLT was a miss :( Would have been MUCH better served on a soft roll. Mimosas and Savoy Snapper were great cocktails. The decor and environment is cute and welcoming.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were a party of 6 and allWe were a party of 6 and all of us but 1 thought the food was outstanding. The one who didnt had the same dish as 2 others but hers was lukewarm and the pork was dry. I shared mussels (in an amazing broth!) as well as the winter salad (well portioned and great mix of textures) before my entree of arctic char (perfectly cooked and nicely paired with crisp vegetable ribbons). The minor flaw from my standpoint was food delivery. The starters were not served at the same time and while two trips to bring the dishes if immediately following each other would be OK, the last of us waited more than a few minutes for the dish. This happened again with the entrees. I dont find this acceptable in this caliber of a restaurant and hope they fix it.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWent for brunch and had theWent for brunch and had the most enjoyable experience!4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMThe restaurant has a niceThe restaurant has a nice clean, crisp look to it. Plates range from $18-32, mostly in the 20-29 range. The pork belly, scallops with kale plate was the best from the table, which luckily I ordered. :) The mussels were really nice in the coconut curry sauce. The wine, we had the Soave, which is just like it sounds 'Suave' smooth. Overall a nice place for dinner.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMDelightful creative cuisine.Delightful creative cuisine. Restaurant staff, especially Executive Chef Brian Green, were attentive and personable.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMMaking tough decisions forMaking tough decisions for brunch is a bad idea...at least the reward is good food! After much contemplation we finally decided on the crab benedict and seafood mac n cheese - both were fantastic! Very relieved to actually have a decent amount of seafood in the mac and a lack of goopy sauce. Side of sauteed market vegetables was nothing special, had a fishy taste to them. The spicy bloody maries (with oyster) was fantastic.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMSteak was a little cold..Steak was a little cold.. But it still tasted good.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was exquisite. TheThe food was exquisite. The is a small place with very personal service. The menu and the place feel a bit continental in nature, although the menu is seafood! The preparation and treatment of the food is fantastic. Great flavors, personal service, and decent ambiance.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat space. Excellent service.Great space. Excellent service. Multiple seafood selections all expertly prepared, each one better than the next. Don't miss the coconut curry mussels. Vegetarians are accommodated with great seasonal selections. Unique spirits and a fun wine list. All in all, a great place in the hood for seafood!3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat service- Brittany, IGreat service- Brittany, I believe was our waitress. She was fantastic!3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMI loved the breakfast cocktails.I loved the breakfast cocktails. The food was delicious with a unique twist. Portions were perfect.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent for dinner..OK for brunchIf this were dinner my rating would be a five, but for brunch The Savoy is just good...not horrible, but nothing spectacular that would keep me coming back as a brunch regular. The music is pretty awesome though. I think The Savoy does seafood really well and should maybe theme their brunch as a seafood disco brunch and put all the other dishes to bed. Also, some sort of drink specials would be wonderful i.e. $15 bottomless mimosas.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMHighly recommenedReally great seafood restaurant. Good vibe without being too loud. Loved the kale salad and tuna tartare appetizer. Sturgeon and tuna entrees were excellent.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMBoutique restaurantLove this place- it's a hidden gem and boutique restaurant with consistently great food and service! We went there for my husband's birthday (because he loves this place) and they were generous to not only give him a complimentary after-dinner apertif but also me.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMto be honest i don't recallto be honest i don't recall looking at wines at all, however the drink list is amazing! Greenbush beer ( a small brewery and on of my favs in MI) , absinthe, cocktails. We went for the oysters, and I am a little classic about my oysters ( horseradish, cocktail sauce, lemon and hot sauce). These were serve with a roasted tomatoe sauce and lime, wassabe, and ginger sauce. They were spot on! And $2 a piece. Lobster Mac was creamy and flavorful and balanced, beet carpaccio was perfect with a minty surprise to it. We had such a great evening I ordered dessert dulce de leche lava cake with honey lavendar ice cream. Our server Paco was not only pleasant and genuine but a true professional. Overall it was the best restaurant experience in a while.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AM2nd visit. First time picked2nd visit. First time picked off the Chicago Magazine Hotlist. Excellent food and service both times.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMBirthday Made More SpecialThe Savoy is a wonderful place that continues to impress me every time I return on all fronts. The food and service always is amazing. This time I brought my mother here for her 60th birthday. Our server overheard us talking about her birthday and after we'd finished our (delicious) meal, brought out cava and an absolutely fantastic dessert. My mother was blown away by the gesture and can't stop talking about the great experience she had. Overall, I can't recommend this restaurant enough to anyone.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had the best service IWe had the best service I have ever had at a restaurant. The waiter was fantastic, made great suggestions, to the point where by the end of the meal we put everything in his hands and he was great. really fun, relaxed atmosphere.3/8/2013 12:00:00 AMExquisite food, drinks and serviceSavoy has a great selection of drinks (including an absinthe menu!), some very exquisite food choices and a great European wine selection. We have just returned after 6 years living in Europe and were gladly surprised by the European style of the food. Not the huge typical American portions and very tasty. The service was attentive and fun. Overall, an excellent experience that we will repeat soon.1/3/2013 12:00:00 AM
