I really wanted to like this place. I was turned off immediately. My party of 4 had Saturday evening reservations. There were several parties without reservations waiting. We were ushered to a table several feet from the front door that jutted out into the main aisle. Everyone had to round that bend. We asked for a different table and got a nice corner table. Five minutes later, a party of 2, with no reservation, was seated at that first table. With only 2 people, they were able to avoid the seats that were banged into every time someone passed. The food was just okay. We won't be going back.

I ate at the Savoy 2 months a go & had appetizers & loved it. So I was happy suggest it for my friend's BDay. I was embarrassed in front of my friends due to poor service & quality of drinks & food. Our waiter stared at us blankly when we repeated the drink question special "Ask us about the Wild Tropics special." He actually responded "I don't know what that is". We had to ask him 3 times to find out. The drinks were so watered down - if they splashed our Martinis with alcohol that was a lot. And the food which was not bad, was just ok. It's a shame because the decor is fun & atmosphere lively.

Heard about Savoy from train friends on LIRR. Found a Groupon, went to try it out for brunch. Had lunch... Breakfast side of brunch menu limited if you care for omelets, pancakes, etc.....We had lunch sandwiches which were delicious....not to mention the champagne and Chambord cocktails that were perfectly made. There were no drink specials available (mimosas, bloody marys, etc) which would have been a nice offering. Wait staff and manager/owner very accommodating and again, food, location and atmosphere just great.

Overpriced for sure. Food was mediocre. The chickpea appetizer was drenched in oil. Calamari was good. Ordered the fish special which was sole stuffed with crabmeat. No flavor and dry. Not worth $30. Scene and ambiance is nice with the live music but I won't be going back for dinner.

I liked that the restaurant had valet parking since the only other option would be to find a spot on the street. The restauarnt's ambiance is clean and nice. Food is average. However, the service was awful. We waited a while before the bartender even acknowledge us, the waiter seemed too busy although the restaurant was not busy. He was walking away before we had finished asking for what we needed (serving spoons, pepper, plate, what's for dessert, etc...) the bus boys were unfriendly and annoyed when we asked that they take away the glasses from our table that were sitting empty for quite awhile and asking for water. It's too bad... we will never go back.

Aside from the fact it took quiet a while to be served the food was amazing (we came specifically because we hear the chef from Nicholas James had moved here) the atmosphere was very nice aside from a few "what?!" Moments because my husband and I simply couldn't hear one another over the tunes. Will definitely be going back.

This facility doesn't know whether it wants to be a bar or a restaurant. The menu is limited but the options are decent. The prices are steep for local pub food. The maitre'd seemed confused when we walked in and hesitated before seating us in an inconvenient loft space at the back of the restaurant. Maybe it relates to the terrible seating location but the service was infrequent, and clumsy at best. When the waiter can be overheard apologizing at every table almost every time he graces one with his presence, clearly something is wrong. Don't bring children to the loft area, the guardrails have openings large enough small children could fall through which just seemed disconcerting. Always glad to try new places but this one I'm done with.

The Savoy is classy local spot suitable for winding down after work, a special night out with your significant other, or a fun energetic night with friends. My wife and I have been dining at the Savoy since it reopened from its previous life as Brooks and Porter. We loved it then and love it now. Before the Nicolas James merger the Savoy was a lot quieter and was kept as our secret little spot. With the merger came more people (though still intimate), and with no surprise, menu changes. We felt most changes were improvements, however the subtraction of their Chicken Milanese was really disappointing (was one of the best around). If you decide to treat yourself to a night at the Savoy you must start with the Panelle chips! Go and enjoy!

Past Nicholas James patrons first time at the savoy. Restaurant has a good vibe but the only thing that reminded me of the great food at Nicholas James was the salad(pear, goat cheese). Everything else we ordered was not good starting with the bread that was brought to the table. It was not worth eating. I ordered a special of the day mink fish medallions. It was extremely fatty parts of it not eatable.

We used to go to Nicholas James Bistro a lot, well, we finally got to Kevin's new restaurant, the Savoy. It was Lobster Night, so that's what we had, along with an extra app of beer mussels which were very good. I ordered steamed and my wife ordered broiled for the lobster. Both were excellent. Drinks were good. Was a bit noisy, just like the steakhouse that was there earlier, but I guess you can't help the clientele.

My husband and I went to "dine" at the Savoy thinking it would be an enjoyable experience. The noise level was overbearing. I asked the manager a question regarding the wine and he made a condescending remark and laughed and walked away.We had to wait 45 minutes for our main couse, Anthony the manager never came over to apoligise for the wait. We will not be going back. Quite expensive for a Tavern.

I enjoy going to Savoy. The food and service are consistently very good. I may be crazy but I think the menu prices have increased recently with most entrees being $26-$30. One person in our party ordered linguini fruiti d mare....$27! I had tuna over soba noodles....$29. I will think twice before going again because I just can't substantiate the prices in my mind. The food is good but we're not in manhattan.

We went on Saturday night at 7:30. The restaurant is VERY LOUD. We were screaming at each other in order to be heard. Very vibrant bar scene. Fried Calamari was mushy and not crispy. Salads were excellent. Salmon was delicious as was the Tuna. The other veal dishes ordered by our table were very mediocre. Drinks good. I recommend it for the 25 to 35 year old bar scene types because when you go out with another couple; you'd actually like to speak to them while dining.

The Savoy Tavern opened about two years ago in the shadows of an aborted steakhouse. The steakhouse was lousy and Savoy was no better. It was a beautiful space but the food was, shall we say, lackluster. Now with the reigns of the kitchen being handed over to new executive chef Kevin Leibov, formerly of Nicholas James, Savoy deserves a second look. The addition of a few of Chef Leibov's dishes and some new twists to some of the Savoy's standards have made for a vey nice dining experience worth trying. My wife enjoyed the simply grilled shrimp and I devoured my tuna. It's time to come back to Savoy folks!!!

Wow. Was hoping for this merger to be a new place for us to eat but from the poor service and below par food I guess the search continues for a place in Merrick to grab a bite. Very unhappy when you see people returning food because it was cold and the restaurant was not more than half full. If Kevin takes this place and turns it into the original Nicholas James we will return.

We only visited the Savoy Tavern because the Executive chef used to own Nicholas James Bistro. This tavern is very different to Nicholas James. Nicholas James Bistro was everything that I wanted in a restaurant, quiet, romantic and good food. Savoy Tavern was noisy and the food was not the best. I would reccommend the bar for a stop-off after a hard day's work but the restaurant is not worth the visit.
