Diner Reviews
  • "We recently visited the Salmon House as a retired couple celebrating a birthday. As in previous visits this was a memorable experience. The service could not be better and the ambience excellent. A superb place to take visitors."

  • "We have tried to get to Salmon House on the Hill when we travel to Vancouver for several decades now. This trip to Vancouver was no exception. The food was great, as always. The view was to die for, as always. Unfortunately, this time we were seated two tables across from a family with an infant who spent a great deal of the time screaming its lungs out. The parents apparently didn't care. The wait-staff seemed embarrassed. The evening was ruined. Unfortunate and a waste of out time and money."

  • "I was raised in West Vancouver and now live in the United States, and when our family returned for our annual summer vacation I wanted to take my in-laws somewhere special for dinner. I had not dined at the Salmon House on the hill for over 10 years and thought of it as a tourist trap. Boy was I wrong!! The view was of course second to none, and the food and service were both 5 star. It is a little pricey, but worth every penny. I can't wait until we visit again next year!! I would rank this a must stop for all people visiting Vancouver."

  • "Every experience at the Salmon House is a great moment! We always were lucky enough to enjoy a wonderful sunset with great food and wine. We take all our oversea visitors there and they all loved it! We will visit you soon again."

  • "Drinks are fine but not as good as before. It seems like they now use sparkling wine instead of champagne in Fuzzy Peach. Smoked Salmon on Rocket Salad was good. Seafood chowder tasted good, but would be better if it was hot. We were a little disappointed with the springrolls as they were kind of oily. We loved the seafood pasta a lot. The candied salmon in it was awesome. Enjoying the food with a great view, overall, it was still a nice brunch! Will come back again."

  • "Food was nicely prepared, server was attentive and professional. Had been there many many years ago, and still seems to be a very nice place to dine."

  • "Outstanding seafood, beautiful view, friendly and accommodating waiters. Will definitely recommending to friends - visitors and locals alike"

  • "Our service was lacking the level to what we expected. No bread was offered (for free), even though we purchased a $100 item from the menu, you would think (like on past occasions and with other restaurants), bread would be served, but not in this case; unless we paid an additional $3. The food was okay, but the portions were very skimpy for what we paid. The bus-boy kept asking my mother if she wanted coffee, even after she repeatedly declined his offer (to the point of being bothersome). I had to yell after him to refill my coffee as he ignored me completely. Overall I was not impressed and will choose another restaurant before returning to the Salmon House."

  • "Average (below?) food and over priced. If you just want to pay for the view, go ahead. If you want to have a great food, DON'T go there!!!!"

  • "We had a family dinner to celebrate our parents 60 th wedding anniversary. They gave us a lovely table with a great view, our server was very professional and the food divine. I brought a cake and they presented it first so we could, take pictures and then served it to all of us."

  • "Had some New Zealand visitors here & took them here for a late breakfast. The fish lovers were happy as well the hard core steak lovers were equally impressed so good diversified menu. Of course the view was outstanding."

  • "I took my wife to the Salmon House for our 40th wedding anniversary. Special thanks to our fantastic waiter, He made our dinner evening a very special night for us. We have been coming to the Salmon House for years on special occasions, and we have never been disappointed. Thank again for such a great evening , Dave and Darlene From the Valley"

  • "No complaints here, although a dress code would be nice. (Jeans and shorts at dinner rather spoil the overall experience. Great food, we had the tower, and good service."

  • "My Husband booked months in advance for our 25th Wedding Anniversary and asked could we have a window seat which was written down beside our booking. We arrived at the Salmon House all excited but, even though you have a booking you have too line up. The couple in front of us did not have a booking but, was seated by the window. We had too wait and when we were seated it was in the middle of the room with tables all around us very close and noisy. Not very romantic to celebrate our special night"

  • "Took my sister for her birthday brunch. Our server was excellent. Pleasant, seemed genuinely interested, knew how to look after a customer. Had the eggs benedict with shrimp and avocado while my sister had the mushroom omelette. Both were good but there could have been more vegetables on the plate. Little skimpy I thought. I have been before in the evening as that the best time to go. Also thought your specialty coffee was a little pricy. I will be back for an evening though to enjoy the view and the environment."

  • "Why is it that visitors are the ones to who remind us that we can have good food and an outstanding view just minutes away in West Vancouver? Don't we deserve to treat ourselves more often to fresh locally caught seafood and friendly service? Yes, we should be given the royal treatment as locals too."

  • "Not bad. We went here for a special occasion. I agree with others that the food is only mediocre, and there's no value in it whatsoever. Super expensive. I shared a seafood tower with one other person -- only because they were offering it at 25% off. But can't beat the view"

  • "We were here for Father's Day Brunch, for the 7th year in a row. The food was excellent, the service was amazing and the view was unbeatable. We're hoping for many more years of Father's Day brunch here!"

  • "We've been going to this restaurant for years. Food is good and generally good service .. we have a favorite waiter but won't mention his name because we want him!! It is a great place to take visitors, the view is wonderful and they always feel very special when they are taken there. Also important to like fish, there are two other options but it is a seafood restaurant."

  • "Enjoy a wonderful seafood meal with an incredible view. Reasonable prices for good portions. Friendly Service."

  • "I was very disappointed with the food. We went there for a promotion of 25% off the $100 seafood tower. The portion given is not enough for two people. Not sure if it is because it is on promotion, so the portion is less. The reason I picked this seafood tower instead of the lower value one due to the sable fish. We have scallops, caramelized fish, crab salad, tiny little pieces of sashimi as appetizer. Main course is the sable fish. It was only one piece for two people. The size of it is so small that even smaller than a regular main course at The Pink Peppercorn, but it is for two person. The last dish is two lobster tails. It's ok! The price is way too expensive for the portion given."

  • "The combination was perfect, we were sat at a table by the window ( as requested, but obviously not guaranteed ) with friends visiting from UK, it gave them the chance to see the wonderful Vancouver skyline and enjoy great food. The bison carpaccio was as good as I have had anywhere & the " special " crusted halibut, was cooked to perfection. The restaurant was busy, but not noisy. Our servers were very attentive and the timing was spot on, neither rushed nor long pauses between courses."

  • "In the evening on a Tuesday June 10, 2014, some food and service were a bit below the usually high standard. The not-so-good ones: 1. We did not get asked whether ice is wanted with water. The cold water is not cold. 2. The bread was not very fresh. 3. The ALDER GRILLED SALMON was a bit over done. The good ones: 4. Seafood Tower for 2 People is of generous portion. with the varieties of seafood, the lemongrass coconut broth was super. 5. Toffee chocolate torte is good and that chocolate is super."

  • "We had family dinner here and specific wanted oyster. However, we were very disappointed for the warm oysters! We order a dozen but not fresh at all with warm temperature. Seafood tower with lobster and dessert were good but again, coffee is a no no. On top of all this, our server was not always looking after our table, we waited her to come to our table for more than 20 mins and end up we had to order our dessert from the receptionist!!"

  • "Good food, but of the 3 ppl in our group who ordered the same steak, the pieces on their plates were different in thickness and size. Amazing view, and very attentive service once seated. (Our server was really friendly.) But it took them about 5 minutes before we were even noticed when we got in, because the hostess was busy setting up tables. After she checked us in, & told us our table was being set up (another >5 mins, which is okay. I guess the previous group had just left as they were cleaning our table...), another guy who came in with his elderly mom also had another ~5mins wait just standing by the empty check-in desk before hostess noticed them. Maybe it was just an unexpectedly busy day but they definitely need more people!"

  • "Location of the restaurant is prestine, overlooking Stanley Park - and Downtown Vancouver. Brunch was good, the salmon selections were good. The weather was very good, would be great if there was open tables/patio available outside "

  • "The view and ambiance is great, there is not a bad table in the place. The food is very good and it is easy to park."

  • "Apparently the restaurant doesn't care about the comment you left when making appt. they didn't know if I am allergic to fruit and didn't bring me to window seats as requested as there are few available."

  • "Not only is the food incredible but the view makes the whole experience so much more memorable. It is an extremely enjoyable environment and it really felt like an experience as opposed to just another nice meal. Definitely will be a return customer and share with friends. "

  • "Stumbled on this restaurant while looking for Seafood location in the Lower Mainland. The location and scenery was great. The food is passé, nothing to write home about. Portions are small and the food quality and taste was not distinctive. The restaurant ambience needs updating. Not worth a second visit for the food or the price. The server was very pleasant and made all attempts to please and provide service."

  • "We have enjoyed this restaurant for many years; we started going after they started taking reservations, as we were unwiling to wait in line prior to that. We have always appreciated the decor, the view, the services, the food. This time we were surprised to find no halibut, which has just come into season, and no black cod, both of which we'd enjoyed before. My husband, usually a fishie, said the duck was some of the best he'd ever had; I enjoyed my two appetizers very much (clams, scallops), and our east-coast guest of course picked the alder smoked trio, and loved it. We did, however, get the feeling that servings are getting smaller without prices doing the same, hence a slight drop in the food rating."

  • "I chose this restaurant to start my special day ( my birthday ) with a nice romantic bunch with my " special lady friend " ... I made a special request of having a table with the beautiful view but in a quiet romantic spot in the restaurant .... And I definitely got it ... Your staffs are first class, made my visit so enjoyable. For my "special lady friend", it was her first time to your restaurant, but she loves it, and she wants to go back again, maybe bring her family and friends. "
