  • "I was told that the brunch was fantastic, so I made reservations for a friend and I to have brunch last Saturday @ 10:30am. The food was good, definitely. The service was bad. The waitress spilt the coffee all over the table and had to replace the unused napkins. Then we moved to the bar because there was more room, and the service was next to nothing. Took a while for coffee and a menu at the bar. 3 guys behind the bar and we didn't get any attention. Don't think I would recommend it, although the food was good. Exactly why I would go back, but don't want that experience again. I like to give second chances. I just wasn't impressed."

  • "Went to the Saint on a Sunday for a few dozen buck-a-shuck oysters and a bunch of snacks/apps. We had the grilled salami, duck nuggets, steak tartare and the ruben sausage. The restaurant was pretty busy cnsidering it was Sunday and the food was on point as usual! The oysters came out quickly and service at the bar was very attentive. Thanks for a great night!"

  • "We went on a Saturday night. Good points - hearty, interesting, well-prepared food. Very easy to order too much. Good value for money. Enthusiastic servers. Original cocktail offerings and the bartender even whipped up something interesting and non-alcoholic for a teenager. Downsides - gets very loud. And places that charge for bread are a pet peeve. Will probably go back just to try some more of the menu items."

Returned for diner on a Friday night - really busy , waited for table 15 mins , server was good ,salad was smallest in Toronto , ordered 25oz ribeye steak to share came out cold , everything was cold . Dropped the ball on this one , probably won't be back ."

  • "...shame about the Dark and Stormy! Enjoyed a great meal here - buck-a-shuck oysters were great, as was the beef salami. Mains (steak and daily sausage, respectively) were delicious, especially the light touch of the 'tater tots' with the steak. Only downside was the after-dinner cocktail (dark and stormy) we decided to have, which tasted nothing like a Dark and Stormy that either of us had ever had. To be fair, the waitress noticed our displeasure and offered to change the drinks, but being polite Canadians, we both declined (much to our regret). Even so, meal was very good and service was, as well..."

  • "Having been there once before and loved it, I brought a friend from out of town to enjoy The Saint. We tried almost all of the small plates, the burger and the sausage of the day which were all amazing, as well as some cocktails and beers. Everything was excellent, including the service, the only thing that we could say negatively was that the blueberry pie wasn't stellar, but still good, and not what their known for. Would definitely recommend."

  • "I had brunch at The Saint and was very happy with the experience .... sunny spot at the front, great service and yummy food! I went back for dinner ... nice booth, great service and good food. My friends had enjoyable meals (burger, fried chicken). I ordered the skirt steak and although the flavours were delicious, the meat was very chewy. The waiter did describe the meal for me but I tried it anyway. A different cut of beef would have made my meal perfect. Dessert is delicious but large - good for sharing."

  • "Went for brunch last Sunday for the first time as the menu was different and interesting featuring a lot of duck which I love. We had reservations at 11am and our server took our drink and food order about 15 minutes after we were seated. However, it took about 30 minutes before our food order arrived which is really slow considering I had ordered a salad and my husband the eggs benedict. Granted the ingredients were very fresh and the food was tasty, but nothing that extraordinary to warrant the long wait. On a side note, if you're going to give it a try, the thick cut bacon is very tasty!"

  • "Another trip to the Saint for "Buck a Shuck" on a Tuesday evening. Food was great as usual. Those pirogies are to die for. The only glitch was the service. It took a long long time between appetizers and the main course and on top of it all, the server totally forgot to bring out the soup ordered by one of the diners. This is inexcusable and hopefully is just a blip on the Saint's otherwise great record."

  • "I went to The Saint for brunch, and it was awesome! The food was super tasty, and it's such a cute restaurant. Our server was great, he seemed to know exactly when I needed more coffee...not just when my cup was empty, but just as the coffee in my cup began to cool off, he would top me up. A very important skill to have as a server :) Will definitely come back"

  • "So many amazing dinners have been spoilt for me in Toronto over the past couple of years due to the service staff. However, our server knew exactly what she was talking about when it came to the menu, and everything she recommended was spot on - from the main course, to the paired wine. She was friendly and professional ad clearly enjoys what she does. The food (we started with oysters, followed by warm olives and the we went for the special - Wagyu beef shoulder and truffle mash) was fresh, of a very high standard and prepared perfectly."

  • "Four of us had brunch on Saturday and were very happy. The ambience is casual and very homey. The large leather booths offer a cozy and intimate feel while being open to the bar allows easy access for wait staff. The menu was simple and offered a number of interesting choices including a duck eggs benny and homemade donuts. The portions were generous and the flavor balance was very good. I have a high spice pallet and they were able to accommodate my request with a very delicious hot sauce - not your typical tobacco or sriracha. Our favorites were definitely the homemade donuts (strawberry and cream filling tossed in icing sugar) and the homemade scones( more like a dense and crumbly cake - yum!) The service was also excellent."

Sometimes just for an app and a drink before libretto- sometimes for brunch (which, by the way, is AMAZING- try the cinnamon buns), and twice for dinner. Latest was friday night- out with some friends- there were 4 of us. Had the steak & fries- with veggies in place of fries (super strict diet- of which they were MORE than accommodating). Our waiter was outstanding. The meal was well paced- and did not at all feel rushed. It's a great spot."

  • "The Saint is a great place to meet friends, have a pint and enjoy some upscale bar food for lunch/brunch or a cozy Sunday night dinner. Also, it's the perfect place to go on a Thurs/Friday/Saturday night before hitting the bars as the lively energy will have you feeling up rather than in a sleep food coma. Their menu is not what you would expect for a bar- it's 10x better. Their servers are energetic, friendly and efficient. The noise level is high because there is a large bar, the floors are tile, and the walls and bar are wood, however you will have a good time there, guaranteed. If all the tables are taken, take a seat at the bar, the bartenders are wonderful and they serve their delectable food there as well. Enjoy!"

  • "It's my second time coming to the Saint. It's the second time I have the burger. The first time I had it it was magical. Absolutely perfect. This time it came soaked in juices and it was a mess to handle. I ended up eating it with a fork. It was still delicious. The fries accompanying the fries are the best fries I've ever had in the city. My friend had the fried chicken and mac and cheese. It was amazing. It came with hot sauce that complemented the dish perfectly."

A year later, the menu had changed a bit but the food still remains amazing....a place that serves pub like food with gourmet like touches and twists.   • "The brunch menu is innovative and looked very promising. The ambience is great - the booths especially are lovely and comfortable. However, the food was disappointing. The Breakfast Sandwich, recommended as a favourite of patrons, was really mediocre: dry and pretty tasteless. The potatoes served with it were delicious though. We may try the restaurant again as we have heard good things about it - but will have to go with much lower expectations."

  • "I've been here for brunch and dinner and loved both. The food is classic pub but elevated to the next level, executed to perfection. The maple bourbon bacon was life changing, a must try. Caesars were excellent, perfectly spicy and with a house made sausage bonus! Deviled eggs were outstanding, they've brought new life to a classic with a hint of jalapeño and some bacon crumble. The scene is posh hipster, it's not cheap and no one here buys their clothes second hand. Private school kids and urban elite abound. But don't let this turn you off, it's warm and cozy inside and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. I can't wait to go back because I wanted to try everything on the menu!"

  • "My wife and I were looking for something with a "gastro-bar" feel and this hit the spot. Even though we got there at 6:00 PM, it felt alive. Our waiter was great from start to finish. We enjoyed some fresh oysters and our main courses were exactly what we wanted. By the time we left the place was hopping without being too loud. Although a little out of my way, I will be going back."

  • "The placement of large-screen TVs above the bar contributes to identity confusion at the Saint. Is it a foodies haven or a place for guys to watch the hockey game? The drinks and food were good. Further, the space is quite good looking. Unfortunately, the waitress appeared visibly stressed from the onset. This shifted the atmosphere for our meal. Despite the fact that we spent several hundred dollars, we were 'invited' to leave in order to seat the next group. We were not invited to go to the bar (which was packed with TV watchers) or elsewhere. Making people feel awkward, after paying hundreds of dollars, is not a good move."

  • "We had an opportunity to go to a theatre production at the Lower Ossignton Theatre and wanted to do dinner prior to the show. We looked up some options and chose The Saint for what appeared to be some interesting menu alternatives (duck nuggets amongst others). It is described as a bar, but don't let that fool you. The food was outstanding. The ambience is indeed an "upscale" bar, but the menu is wonderful. Excellent selections of fish, interesting appetizers, very good red meat alternatives and unique salads. I had lamb, my wife had salmon, and my son had the steak tenders with frites. The food was outstanding. We don't have any reason to regularly head back to the Ossington neigbourhood, but we will be back - to go to The Saint."
