The Ryland InnGreat Meal! We did the tastingGreat Meal! We did the tasting menu. Everything was perfect. They were very accommodating to making a pesceterian-friendly version to my wife that was equally perfect5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Dining Experience!Very upscale menu. Exquisite preparation and presentation of our choices. The staff were very
efficient and personable, and professional too.
We celebrated our wedding anniversary that evening, and it was indeed memorable.
Hope to go again in the future.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMNot only was the food greatNot only was the food great but the service was as well. The staff was very personable and made the exprience that much better. I would recommend the ryland inn to anyone.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a delightful meal. HadWhat a delightful meal. Had not been there since the days of Craig Shelton - but was every bit - maybe even a bit better. Mark our waiter was wonderful. All in all a great meal. Foodies go!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful ExperienceMy husband and I had an excellent dinner to celebrate my birthday on a Saturday night. The food was outstanding; nice selection, good portion size and wonderfully prepared. The service was excellent, too. Very attentive staff without being overbearing. They have done a vey nice job redecorating this place since the last time we were there several years ago. We will definitely come back again and look forward to sitting outside on the lovely patio.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMNJ's Best!Quickly becoming our go-to restaurant.
In addition to the quality and care in preparation of the 5 star food, the service is improving with every visit.
The tasting menu is a value and probably the best dining experience currently in NJ.
Only suggestion, improve upon the current wine program, doesn't match the level of the food.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMI thought it was a wonderfulI thought it was a wonderful experience all around but a bit pricey. I don't know how often we would be able to go.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMA nice night out......I took my husband for his birthday recently, and the Ryland Inn did not disappoint! Our meal was fabulous, and the staff was very helpful and attentive. We are big foodies and I would definitely go again. We also love good wine, and while the wine list was quite extensive, we did find it difficult to find a reasonably priced bottle. It is quite loud, but the overall atmosphere is warm and welcoming. We will definitely be back.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMIt's Back...Go!Ok, The Ryland Inn is back. Will it ever achieve it's national fame again? Who cares. The legacy of farm-to-table is strong, but it's taken full root in New Jersey. It's a very strong offering in a pastoral region not known for its glut of high-end restaurants. Chef Bucco did a great job at Stage Left while he was there, so it's great to have him in a new venue with new owners. Can't wait to see what unfolds over the next year!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThe "new" Ryland InnVery smart looking interior, bar was very nice. Could use a sign out front! Food good but not outstanding (relative to prices) One person in our party had rare chicken sent back twice, it would have been smart to send maître de over after second time. Wine list would benefit from half bottles and a few more "by the glass" wine options.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMHad an excellent meal. TheHad an excellent meal. The atmosphere is upscale, but not stuffy.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMMy husband and I really enjoyedMy husband and I really enjoyed our meal here. The service was great from the moment we walked in until the moment we left. Although we enjoyed our entire meal, we felt that our first courses and dessert overshadowed our entrees. Overall, a very pleasant experience.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was simple and elegant. The food was simple and elegant. Everything was fresh from the garden. Excellent flavors and textures. A fabulous dining experience.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMPricy and PretentiousAlthough the food was delicious, portions were small for the price. Atmosphere was pretentious. I'm glad I tried the "new" Ryland Inn, but I won't be going back.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMOur first but certainly notOur first but certainly not the last visit to the Ryland Inn was completely awesome. Everyone in our party was blown away with the food, service and ambiance4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMFinally~! The high-end diningFinally~! The high-end dining experience that Somerset County has never had.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth the MoneyThere were 4 of us for dinner and we all had a fantastic meal. The wine selection and suggestions were wonderful and great with the dinner. It was well worth the money.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGood but not outstandingOur 2nd visit & although quite good, service was not as efficient as our previous visit.
Water glasses were not refilled quickly & plates sat on our table far too long before they were cleared.
If I'm paying $4.00 for a cup of coffee, the waiter should have returned and asked me if I wanted a refill...that never happened.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was excellent.Everything was excellent. My wife and I went here for our anniversary. We had the tasting menu with accompanying wine. All dishes were interesting and enjoyable and they weren't light on the wine. Plenty to enjoy the dish with.
This is our first time since they re-opened. We enjoyed it very much.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Dinner! The dining experience was a great one with outstanding food choices. The staff was warm, welcoming and very accommodating. The celebration of our 20th anniversary was made very special with nice personal touches.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMBelieve it.Make this your destination even if you must drive an hour or more, from Princeton in my case. Arriving on a whim on a solo business trip, after having been served impeccably and effortlessly entertained and educated for two hours by the maestros at the bar and in the kitchen, only after leaving did I read the NJ magazine four star review posted to their web site. It's not hype. Spread the word.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went as a small group toWe went as a small group to celebrate my wife birthday. The service and food were both absolutely amazing.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMBright, Tasty, and Eclectic. The Ryland officially joins my list of favorites with its bright, tasty, and eclectic Tasting Menu. I look forward to many years of increasingly delightful dishes as this old favorite reinvents itself.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWe are so delighted that RylandWe are so delighted that Ryland Inn has reopened. The experience made us realize how much we missed it! Natural light from the skylights and nicely spaced tables create a wonderful dining environment. Attentive, friendly staff too. The 7-course Degustation menu was a great way to enjoy the talents of the chef. Salmon, scallops, rib-eye steak, etc...all inventively balanced with ingredients to enhance flavors. A perfect spot destination for any celebration.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMI loved the whole experience!I loved the whole experience! The composition of beet salad was wonderful! The lamb was delicious-some of the best lamb I have ever been served! The staff was very warm and welcoming and the very special touch of opening the menu and seeing my friend's name printed on a card wishing her a happy birthday was very thoughtful! Thanks for a great evening!3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing nightWe came to Ryland Inn for a special occasion and they certainly didn't disappoint! The ambiance was superb and my guests were very impressed. I had called ahead and told them that it was a birthday and they helped me arrange a beautiful and unique birthday dessert that my friend loved. They helped us choose the courses and made sure that everything was perfect. They even exchanged the drink that my friend didn't like. We were also offered the opportunity to taste a new drink that wasn't even on the menu! Overall it was an exceptional birthday that my friend will not forget. We will definitely be going back!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMExtraordinary! BeautifullyExtraordinary! Beautifully restored colonial stagecoach inn. Elegant and sumptuous interior, with service and food to match. Tasting menu was seasonal and imaginative. Uni Custard that I still think about and smile at how good it was.3/10/2013 12:00:00 AMI want to write a top reviewI want to write a top review for the Ryland Inn. The restaurant is attractively furnished. The menu is quite limited; one soup, one salad, no shellfish. The root vegetable veloute would have been excellent, if only they had left off the overly sweet fruit. The soup and the duck confit bits alone would have been perfect. The fois gras was excellent, but the garnishes not so good and no brioche or other toast, I had to ask for any bread and they brought (finally) some pedestrian rolls. The veg were unremarkable. Niman strip had a silver skin strip through it.Service was mediocre. Lots of offers to serve, no follow through. Drinks languishing on the bar, no bread, etc. For the price, go elsewhere.3/10/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Ryland InnThe Ryland is has reinvented itself and is excellent. The beautiful restaurant is only exceeded by the food itself both is aesthetic presentation and quality and interest. The service was friendly and personal; we got a tour of the kitchen and met the chef! We were there for a special birthday dinner and upon opening the menu, we saw birthday wishes to our guest of honor. Very classy! I would recommend this place as highly as possible and it is well worth the price.3/10/2013 12:00:00 AMSimply wonderful experience,Simply wonderful experience, engaging staff provided one of the most memorable dining experiences ever.
The tasting menu was a joy, I've had the opportunity to experience some very fine and creative dining experiences in the last few years and without a doubt this was on a par wth the very best I've experienced in every regard.3/9/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food, great presentationExcellent food, great presentation and unusual flavors. The bread needs improvement. Service very professional, occasionally a bit distracted.Overall a great experience.2/10/2013 12:00:00 AM
