  • "This was an outstanding restaurant. A bit pricy but would love it for a special occasions. Everything was top of the line. Will return. Yummy, Halibut"

  • "This was our third time there recently and the first time under the helm of the new chef. We loved the old chef, and the new one does not miss a beat. One of the best food experiences in NJ for sure. The first two times the service wasn't up to the quality of the food, but I have to give credit to our waiter this time, who was very on top of the menu, our preferences and had great suggestions. Every dish was great, but standouts included the grilled squid, snapper crudo, summer bean salad, and halibut. We already look forward to returning."

  • "We were a bit cautious but optimistic about the new chef, but the food was outstanding as always. Had the scallop mid-course and Maria had squid. We both had the Halibut and it was cooked perfectly. We did not have desert as we were going to a movie after."

  • "At our server's suggestion, we opted for the tasting menu-- great selections, wonderfully prepared. We enjoyed all of the courses, especially the corn and oyster soup, beef deckle, poached lobster. Certainly agree with NJ magazine's naming thr Ryland Inn as one of New Jersey's finest."

  • "Great food, Great service. Cooked exactly as ordered."

  • "The best service I ever experienced! They pay attention to the smallest detail. Food was great, a little pricey, but worth every bite. The complimentary tasting appetizer and dessert were a nice touch. We sat at a table next to the bar which Friday happy hours overflowing into the dining area. Next time id like to be seated in the back section. Beautiful ballroom as well as clean kept grounds. Can't wait to go back."

  • "Everything was fabulous! My friends from Pa where glad they came to the Ryland INN to meet us!!"

  • "A perfect Sunday dinner! The food was brilliant: creative AND tasty:) My friends and I had the 7-course tasting menu, which became 9 courses including the complimentary amuse bouche of asparagus foam over uni custard (an odd combination that worked amazingly well) and a palate cleanser of refreshing yuzu sorbet topped with a single perfect raspberry. Each course was correctly sized and paced, so that we left feeling well satisfied but not stuffed. It's hard to pick a favorite from such choices as oyster with caviar, or guinea hen roulade, but the butter poached lobster was absolute heaven. Impeccable service. A tray of original petit fours made a delicious finale. You could easily pay twice as much for less value in Manhattan."

  • "Really just a classy establishment, with great service, unique food and drink fair, very tasty and well presented. I normally go to the Ryland Inn for special occassions, as the ambience and awesome service come at a premium (not criticizing the price at all, just letting folks know what to expect)."

  • "This is where my wife and I celebrated of anniversary. Great food, atmosphere and service. We may make it our regular go-to spot."

  • "What a great place! A true treasure. We went for my birthday and did the chef's tasting....Was completely floored! Our waiter Richard was spectator! The room was quiet, comfortable and romantic. The rose hip ice cream over strawberries was divine!! Can 't wait to go back and bring our friends!"

  • "Our only problem was with the noise level that made it hard to converse as the place filled up."

  • "This is our 3rd of 4th time back to Ryland since Anthony reopened this historic restaurant. The bar and cocktails were outstanding (thanks Andrew!). The food was fresh, delicious, perfect portions, great presentation -- I can't say enough. This has to be considered one the finest restaurants in central NJ if not all of NJ!"

  • "My wife and I went on a Wens for our anniversary. Weather was very nice that evening so we dined outside. Food and service were as we expected. Sommelier helped with our wine selections including tastings when we were unsure. We had the Day Boat Halibut and Yellowfin Tuna entrees and both were outstanding. I would also highly recommend the Gnocchi…..absolutely the best I've had since my grandmother was around!! Of course meal was a bit pricey but felt it was very good value for a special occasion."

  • "My wife and I have eaten at the Ryland Inn a number of time over the past year, and each time we seem to have a better experience. The food was excellent, the service was outstanding, and the bartenders are second to none in their ability to create cocktails based on the drinkers likes and dislikes. We sat outside on the porch where they had and acoustic guitar and keyboard player and the ambiance was perfect. We will be back."

  • "We visited the Ryland Inn for dinner to celebrate my husband's 35th birthday. The food was amazing and the service was impeccable. I am pregnant and the staff proactively confirmed for me that the sea urchin in the amuse bouche was fully cooked and suggested cocktails that would delicious if made virgin. My husband was the only one who wanted the tasting menu but the chef made an exception and served just him because it was a slow time of the night. We were even presented with a personalized, printed birthday card and a special Happy Birthday written on his dessert. I would recommend the Ryland Inn to anyone who appreciates delicious food and attentive staff - aka everyone!"

  • "But I still miss the "old" Ryland Inn. If you're from the area & remember the old days (dating back to the 80s even) it's hard to compare. But the reincarnation is a good come back. I'm happy to see the beautiful property up & running again! Our meal was good. A few misses here & there but overall a very nice experience. Ordered a specialty cocktail & bartender outside said oh we don't have any more of that syrup. Odd it was a Saturday night?!? Who's overseeing prep of the $13 drinks? Grilled calamari was interesting combo of flavors that somehow worked & was cooked to perfection. Gnocchi was salty & soupy. Halibut was cooked to perfection but over seasoned. Short ribs were excellent. Service fantastic and sommelier very accommodating."

  • "After creating a reservation and being called to confirm we were shown table 51 for our 45th anniversary, notice of which was part of the reservation. I rate restaurants on atmosphere, service, food, and price. Note the Ryland Inn was one of our favorite restaurants before its tragic closing and reopening. Table 51 offers NO atmosphere, in a pretty restauarant, The restaurant was 1/3 to 1/2 full. A premium restaurant should know how to make a perfect Manhattan especially if it charges $19 for a drink . It does not. A strawberry salad should contain more than 1 strawberry My halibut was fine this portion size was dainty. Dessert was good. Armagnac was not available. Overall not the experience we expected to be able to celebrate."

  • "Chef's Tasting Menu hit all the high points on the taste-sensation wheel. Odd and unusual flavors paired with multiple textures like sweet peas and carrots with vanilla cream and tarragon broth as a palate cleanser. Savory salmon with pastrami seasoning to mimic and play with the traditional pastrami deli sandwich. Rich, tender lamb bites melted in our mouths. Fabulous experience, especially nice for our own celebration!"

  • "Restaurant acoustics required us to yell across the table to be heard. Add to that a piano and vocals from the bar and it was impossible to have a conversation. Eliminate the music on busy nights as the restaurant is already loud. The noise overwhelmed the food."

  • "This was our second visit to the Ryland Inn in the last year and we again had an amazing experience. This time we brought some friends to celebrate their recent marriage and enjoy our time before they move away. The food was all perfectly prepared, the cooking temperatures just right, and the accompaniments fit the dishes perfectly. We love that this restaurant utilizes local ingredients from local farms and changes the menu to fit the season. Though the prices are high, for us this is a very special occasion type of place, which makes us enjoy it all the more. If you can get a table on the outdoor patio in the summer - it is beautiful out there and just a wonderful location."

  • "Our meal was close to being great but it missed on texture and treatment. The seared tuna with pork belly would have been fabulous if the pork belly was fried crispy. The poached duck egg on the tagliatelle was overwhelmed by the sauce. The dishes were undifferentiated and almost too much of the same consistency to finish. The ingredients were all there for fabulous but the meal just was not."

  • "We went there to celebrate a birthday. I asked for a candle on the dessert, I was assured it would be done - did not! My fish was under cooked, had to send it back and was still not done right! My water glass was completely empty before someone refilled it. The service was only satisfactory. Very noisy, a lot of coming and going by the staff, not a relaxing atmosphere. I used to frequently go the old Ryland Inn and was always satisfied with the food and service."

  • "Our table had the tasting menu. Some of the courses were amazing. A couple were only okay. The portions were a bit on the small side. We were still hungry at the end of the meal. Overall it was a wonderful experience. The wine pairings were awesome!"

  • "This was a special treat in which for a couple of hours my wife were able to enjoy the lifestyle of the rich and famous. We enjoyed and appreciate the hard work of the staff in making our anniversary special without knowing the occasion"

  • "It was a special occasion for us and everything was just perfect. We started with specialty drinks at the bar and a wonderful discussion with the bartender. Our meal was delicious and the service was attentive. It's great to have the Ryland Inn back!"

  • "Was a bit bummed that the entire table must order the tasting menu, was looking forward to that. However, what we ordered was very delicious & portion size was decent. Only bad item was my coffee, they forgot to bring it out though they served rest of table. Would go again."
    Dined on 6/21/2014
  • "very noisy; and it took us 3 hours to eat, way too long. They try hard, almost too hard, to be all things to all people. They had a big event, a full dinning room, a bar, and a band. Fortunately far apart. But the noise just from the dinning room made it hard to hear my companions, and was the worst part of the evening. Staff was stretched too thin, and delivery of food uneven. Waited too long between courses and for simple requests. Portions a reasonable size, which is fine. Prices high enough to warrant better service, and a quieter room. Too many hard surfaces bouncing the sound around."

  • "We first visited the Ryland Inn in 1993 to celebrate our 5th Anniversary and then again a few years later. Moved out of the area but when I heard of the restoration we knew we had to come back. A beautiful setting, just as wonderful as I remember. Presentation was 1st class and the dining experience from start to finish exceeded our expectations for this special occasion."

  • "We have been there twice lately, and each time, the food has been just outstanding. Bravo to the chef and his team. This time we had grilled squid, market salad, red snapper crudo, scallops and halibut. We are not red meat eaters, but at the table next to us, all four had meat and they raved about it. It is unfortunate that the service is not at the same quality as the food. The first time the waiter was particularly clueless about the menu. This time the waiter was nice, but not as professional or knowledgeable as you would expect from a restaurant of this quality. Hopefully, the service will get better, because that is the only thing holding the restaurant back from being one of the top 2-3 in NJ. The food is already at that level."

  • "The food was absolutely delicious. We had the tasting menu and every course was excellent, and would love to have more of the uni mousse amuse. Will definitely return for more of the cuisine. However, the service was not of the same quality. It seemed as though they were understaffed, though they must have known from reservations that they had a full house. Though all of the servers were warm and welcoming, water glasses went empty; we had to pour our own wine; and clearing was inconsistent."
