Diner Reviews
  • "The choise of white wine by a glass is not intersting. Should have a better selection including french wines or a tasty, powerfull white american wine. But the terrasse outside diner is really a pleasure."

  • "It is a great getaway place. Went for brunch this last time for my birthday. Just lovely!"

  • "a wonderful lunch - elegant menu- artistic surroundings. courteous service, and many varieties on the menu to choose from. Our entire group had wonderful lunches and we appreciated that the dessert menu had options of "slivers" so that you could satisfy the sweet tooth and not add too much to the end of a filling lunch. the surroundings were so lovely indoors and outdoors that it was difficult to choose where to sit. The Roycroft Inn also has an outstanding hotel furnished true to Hubbard's Roycroft theme of simple and elegant all in one."

  • "Lunching with 10 from work, our server was very accommodating with a couple picky people. He always had a smile and cheerful disposition. There was no problem getting separate checks. Sitting on the veranda was relaxing. Those who ordered the salmon lunch loved it. The jerk chicken crepes did not get as good favorable response. I will definitely visit again."

  • "We brought out-of-town guests to dine...in part because of the historic Arts & Crafts environment. Our meal was very good, the atmosphere was very conducive to dining & conversation, and the staff was very helpful & attentive. Our guests enjoyed the experience, and we will definitely return."

  • "Our first time for Sunday brunch and hands down the best food, best ambience , just fabulous !!!"

  • "This was my second visit, the first for dinner. It was a quiet Sunday evening, and we sat on the open-air veranda. The food was excellent; the wine well-priced, and it was nice to be a place where you didn't have to raise your voice to have a conversation."

  • "A beautiful setting, but the brunch menu has become stale. I've been going here for brunch for many years and it's just the same old thing. Boring fruit, a tasteless omlet bar and the dessert/pastry table shrinks each time I visit. Also, hostess is not very "friendly". Perhaps she's tired of this place too!"

  • "Have gone with friends several times. Stayed at the Inn with my husband. Always a great place to relax, walk the grounds, and eat and dring great food. The Copper Store is a treasure. Great for wedding gifts!"

  • "Certainly when in East Aurora a place to go. Obviously a chef in house but someone at the table felt that some of the flavors did not mesh. The campus is interesting to look round. Overall, a great time was had."

  • "It was my husband 65th birthday. I had lived in East Aurora in the 80's so choose The Roycroft Inn to celebrate while passing through western New York. The only problem we had initially was there was no hostess to seat us. After finally locating one, everything was perfect from then on, wonderful seating on the porch, delicious food, and excellent service, a summer day with wonderful memories of returning to East Aurora at the Roycroft Inn."

  • "We arrived 10 minutes early for a 6:30 res. on a week night. Parked directly across the street in lot on Roycroft Campus. Seated immediately outside on the portico with a nice view of the garden. Busy night with two large events going on resulted in a 45 minute wait from the time we were seated to be served our entrees. Good thing we ordered drinks and appetizers. Service was attentive. Overall a pleasant evening al fresco."

  • "We went to the Father's Day buffet held at the Roycroft and had a wonderful time. There were numerous food choices on the buffet with your choice of a complimentary alcoholic beverage. The setting there is striking - sitting outside on the large front porch with a nice breeze and outstanding service."

  • "It was a beautiful day so we ate outside on the patio. The atmosphere was wonderful -- nice gardens border the patio and everything is nicely decorated. Food and service were excellent. My fiance was pleased to see his favorite beer on the menu. We will definitely be back!"

  • "We had an amazing evening. The front porch was so relaxing as we enjoyed our coctails and no one made us feel that we had to rush our evening along . Our Waiter Dan was friendly and knowledgable he made sure that we were comfortable at all times. I look forward to booking another evening very soon."

  • "It's been awhile since my last visit to The Roycroft Inn. I must say I need to come back more often. As a gift for my brother's birthday the reservation was made for he, a visiting family member (from Boston, MA) and myself. The atmosphere was thoroughly enjoyed by all, our service from Olivia, excellent, and the food, exceptional. A perfect place to disconnect and take a step away from reality. Thank you!"

  • "the food and service was great but I was disappointed not to be able to dine in the original section of the dining room. there should be some way to partition off the section (the bar area) that was filled with very noisy people and amplified music that was disruptive to the overall dining experience. It might be desirable to have a perspective diner given the choice of area for dining when the initial reservation is made. "

  • "Our family returned for the Sunday brunch on June 1, 2014 and I cannot recall a better one. The meats carved that day were flank steak (outstanding, I had a lot!) & lamb (didn't try it because I've considered lamb fatty and theirs appeared that way, too). I don't have enough room to list all the items, but the ones I especially liked were the broiled haddock in a light creamy sauce, the eggs benedict, Caesar salad and the smoked salmon. The fare was not especially heavy, which was nice because I think we all felt full, but not too full. Excellent coffee, as always. There were plenty of desserts, the omelet station, relishes, but I stuck with the specialties. Noise level was fine, many people were on the porch & the traffic there is quiet. "

  • "The Roycroft Inn is one of the most historic and beautiful locations in WNY. They serve a great buffet brunch with a touch of elegance. It is one of my favorite places whether it is for special occasion or a Sunday brunch after church. "

  • "Our 44th wedding anniversary was on Memorial Day so we chose to celebrate at the Roycroft. Given that it was a holiday and a Monday, few restaurants were open but we were glad that the Roycroft was among them. We enjoyed the ambience, service and food. Although we both have food sensitivities, the staff was aware (from our reservation) and took care to avoid problems. We were glad to have our occasion at this place."

  • "Service was beyond leisurely. It was S-L-O-W!! Food was adequate, nothing memorable and a big disappointment as it was out "treat" for a sister's 70th B-day. Would not and have not recommended your restaurant. Sorry."
    Dined on 5/19/2014
  • "Consensus is that the food fell far short of the mark! My traveling companions loved the French Onion Soup; the remainder of our orders were mussels as an appetizer, the sauce was flavorless. Two of us had steak salads. For the price, the steak was barely recognizable; without that defining feature, the rest, well, was just salad. The cassatta cake was a heavy cake, not a chiffon as described. While the young man that waited on us was polite, he was not a waiter for that caliber restaurant. The restaurant was virtually empty and he would disappear for long periods of time. When we mentioned our coffee was served cold, he was missing while we ate our dessert, he topped it off with coffee from a "hotter" container. Still cold! Not worth it!"

  • "The strip steak entre was superb. I prefer no crotons in the bisque, serve in side dish so diner can make a choice. I scooped them all out. Can bread be crunchy crust? Delicious whipped butter. We will return."

  • "Service was not up to par. Missing bread plates, water for tea not refilled, had to ask for dessert menu, slow service and responses. "

  • "We have dined several times at the Roycroft. Funny enough, when I lived in the area, I never went. Now that I moved away, I go often. The ambiance is beautiful, historical building, great food, great staff, there is nothing more you could ask for!!"

  • "It was my sister's birthday. She drove 6 hours to visit and I took her to celebrate at the Roycroft. I had only had lunch at the Roycroft, but not dinner. Service was excellent. Food was outstanding. We had a perfect seat for two and the pace of the meal was great. It was a special birthday for her."

  • "My family and I had dinner on Mother's Day. When I made the reservation, I didn't realize it was a "Mother's Day Brunch". We were all disappointed that we could not order off the regular restaurant menu. I made the reservation on line, and did not see anything indicating it was a brunch. We were looking forward to a more relaxing dinner, and the getting up and making our selections, did not lend itself to a relaxing dinner. . "

  • "We had a group of 1 vegan and 8 other adults. The right-sized table was prepared for us, outside. It was 6:30 and very pleasant outside area. The food was delicious; the service was attentive and we enjoyed a good family gathering. Thank you."

  • "Great Mother's Day Brunch. Buffet with a very wide variety of high quality (but still a buffet) breakfast, lunch and dinner items. IDK if it is like this every week, or if Mother's Day is special or not. Items rotate in and out, so if you really want something, take it."

  • "The Inn is grace and relaxation, it feels like a old friend just invited you over for a Sunday brunch. Our server was professional, and most responsive to all of our dinning needs. The food laid out for our sampling was well presented. Every dish from the cheese and crackers to the prime rib, was being refreshed as if we where the only quests in the dinning room. An understatement to say this was worth the trip."

  • "I was aiming for something intimate and romantic. When we arrived there was a wedding reception going on and there was only one dining area available. This room was dominated by another large noisy birthday celebration complete with small children running around and infants crying. Far from the intimate and romantic atmosphere I had hoped for. Luckily, my wife is a good sport and we salvaged the evening, but needless to say I was extremely disappointed in what should have been a very special dinner. When paying top prices one would expect the restaurant and atmosphere to be equal to the task. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this restaurant for any type of romantic dinner. "

  • "We celebrated a special occasion at The Roycroft with a party of 20 people. The service exceeded my expectations and we all loved it. Food was of good quality and very appealing. Staff went out of their way to make sure our needs were met!"

  • "I was there with others for a Sunday brunch. Not many food choices. For example 3 cold salads and for bread only mini muffins or bagels. Long, long wait for omelettes at certain times (25 minutes for me). Very nice building, some classical musicians playing music for us. Waitresses were attentive."

  • "I absolutely loved this inn. Starting with the old huge wooden engraved door, the fireplace. I was very impressed with the ambiance; it is a family friendly restaurant, welcoming children as well. The brunch selection was incredible vast. Where else can you get an omelet to order and beef roast, garlic mashed potatoes (the best I've ever had). And the awesome french toast with a whipped cream infused with sherry or something sooo delicious you wish you could lick the bowl. I can't wait to take the "girls" out for brunch. Every occasion will be spent at the Roycroft Inn. Wait staff was quite busy so I gave it 4 stars but when she was able to get to our table she was very attentive."
