Diner Reviews
  • "Always top notch food and service, and a grand room. Even though it's primarily a steak joint, the fish is surprisingly good....have enjoyed the John Dory, the salmon and a couple specials."

  • "Chef Perry Pollaci is a magician with food. If you want the best eating out experience, request the Chef's Table and let Perry prepare amazing dishes for you. The Royce's regular menu is lovely too but not the same "foodie" experience. Massive wine cellar and awesome mixologists too!"

  • "This was our first time dining at the Royce, and it has now become our favorite steakhouse. Perfectly prepared, wood fire grilled steaks with a selection of complementing sauces. My wife had a filet, and I had a New York strip. Both were juicy and tender. We chose polenta and truffled spinach as our sides to share. Our server was extremely wine knowledgable and suggested a perfect wine match."

  • "The Royce at Langham Huntington in Pasadena is an unparalleled dining experience. 32-ounce Porterhouse prepared bone-in, presented at table, and then returned sliced into Filet Mignon and New York Steaks to share was a unique and delicious choice. Loved the suggested sharing sides for our party of three. The Caesar Salad, AuGratin Potatoes, and Grilled Asparagus were wonderful. The staff worked hard to make a birthday guest at our table feel special, and they succeeded with a pre-printed birthday wish on our table at arrival and a beautiful crème brulee to finish the night. Very pricey, but highly recommend The Royce."

  • "Surprised my wife by taking her to the Langham Hotel for her birthday. I also made reservations at the Royce for a romantic birthday dinner. Could not have asked for a better evening...outstanding service (Thx Terra~!), excellent food, and a very nice setting."

  • "Dinner was fabulous as always, service outstanding. Sad that our favorite waitress is leaving, but we know we'll get excellent service in the future no matter what. Tried some great wines and interesting new dishes."

  • "Wonderful birthday dinner with my husband. Exquisite steak and sides with comprehensive wine list. Definitely the best steakhouse in the area."

  • "Very beautiful décor. All of the staff were very friendly and made a point to know our name and address us as so. Even got the pronunciation correct! Our wedding anniversary started with a nice touch - a simple card on the table acknowledging our special evening with out name and a thank you for choosing them. Our waiter, Charles, was a friendly and personable young man who took the time to tell us about the menu items of note and helped us with our selections. We each had a steak, one each from their special suppliers, along with the best whipped mashed potatoes, a delightful selection of mushrooms and a vegetable dish that was the perfect accompaniment to the meal. This was preceded by the largest salad I have seen in quite awhile."

  • "Honestly the best steakhouse I've ever been to. Better than Palm, Morton's or even Nik n Stefs."

  • "I had the rib eye. It tasted excellent, but I cut about 1/3 of it off as inedible gristle. Should have been trimmed better. This will be my last steak house meal. For $219 including tip for two (and I brought my own 1994 Opus One) I can do better at home."

  • "A magical evening with great service and each dish being better than the one before. Crab cake was superb, Greg Norman wagyu strip steak and the rack of lamb were both sensational. The sides were as good as the meat. The finish with the apple pie to share and a couple of the special coffees was absolutely perfect! A great venue for a special occasion."

  • "With three kids, it's a rare occasion to find time for a date night with my wife. That being said, we took advantage of DineLA week to make a trip out to The Royce for a nice dinner. We had a fabulous evening and everything was perfect from the food to the service to the ambiance. Thank you for making a memorable evening for us. We will definitely come back."

  • "The food was excellent, the menu choices, excellent, the staff, friendly, courteous yet professional. The steaks were done to perfection and the quality, beyond compare in my opinion, here in L.A."

  • "We hoped for more...should have been great food but wasn't especially for the price. I don't want to fixate on price but it is a factor. The best single item was the appetizer: very fresh, large Santa Barbara prawns. Delicious bread basket with house made gougere and La Brea Bakery breads. Although we took advantage of LA Restaurant Week, the bill for four with drinks and a couple of glasses of wine came in at about $380 including a 20% tip. The Royce wants to sell steak which was not part of the Restaurant Week menu. I think they missed a bet. Gorgeous setting, we loved our window seating; and the hotel is beautiful. We also enjoyed very nice service."

  • "I know Langham to be luxurious hotel but I was very surprised by The Royce. From its décor to service to food, I was impressed. Being a steakhouse, the steaks were good. But they have a great selection of wine and they are well displayed in a clear glass room, reminds me of Vegas. Great restaurants don't always have great dessert but The Royce has great dessert. The salad portion was bigger than I'm used to and it was a bit over-dressed."

  • "We went to the Royce for Dine LA week (only way we could afford it) for my husband's birthday. It's a beautiful restaurant in a gorgeous hotel. Dishes, while seemingly small, were gorgeous, delicious and surprisingly filling. The staff decorated my husband's dessert plate for his birthday and our waitress was very attentive and pleasant. By all means come here, especially for a special occasion, but be aware, it's very pricey."

  • "Great service from the server all the way to the manager. We celebrated a wedding anniversary and the ambiance was ideal. The food was delicious and the service was perfect. The wine selection as well as the 2 wine rooms are impressive. The server spent time explaining the dishes as well as provided suggestions based on her personal experience. Although a bit pricey but worth every penny. This was our first time at the Royce and will certainly return again."

  • "We had been looking forward to an elegant dinner and were just..........let down. The music was sort of country westernish, no tablecloths and the wine was $17 for a glass of La Crema Chardonnay which costs $14 a bottle. We did the DineLA menu and they served slightly less elegant versions of their regular menu items for that. Either embrace DineLA or don't participate!!! Service was lovely and the valet parking was comped, but I would not go back again despite the fact that it is only 6 blocks from my home."

  • "We decided to have an early Valentines Day dinner to avoid theta dreaded Noah's Ark feeling on the actual night. The food was delicious and made all the better by the smart and professional service of our server Tara who was outstanding."

  • "My husband and I were both very impressed with the service and the outstanding food at the Royce. Often times I'm disappointed with the high cost of a meal not living up to the expectations, but that was not the case here. We felt our entire dining experience was worth the cost. I am super picky and have some food allergies that were easily accomadated by the chef, who actually came to our table to make sure everything was okay for my needs. Super impressive!! We look forward to dining at he Royce again. I do hope the play better music as blues didn't seem to fit the ambience."

  • "Had not been back to The Royce since they started featuring steak on the menu. Had the grain feed filet and was very impressed with the flavor and tenderness of the meat. Definately a premier place for a great steak! I highly recommend giving The Royce a try next time you are in the mood for a steak."

  • "My wife and I enjoyed a delightful evening at the Royce. Upon arrival the hostess immediately accomodated our request to be relocated to a booth away from the entrance. The wait staff is top notch , attentive but not hovering and very knowlegeable of the menu and wine list. Considerable effort given to explaining the menu and the differences betwwen one cut of meat versus another. The Chef visited outr table twice during the meal to learn our preferences, offer suggestions and to inquire if the meal met our expectations."

  • "We were given a warm red wine before we were seated . I really dont prefer red wine but this one was very good warm. The steak was so tender you dont need a steak knife to cut it( filet mignon) . The bignet was average."

  • "The evening started poor with 2 delays on getting seated, despite having made the reservation a week in advance. The last time I dined here it was French, it is now steak. The server had great knowledge of both the menu and wine list. We had the venison and California grass fed ribeye- both excellent. Overall a great meal, but the wait was a damper on a special evening I'd also recommend the taproom next door if you need a place to wait- good service and a nice jazz trio"
