We went this past Saturday and I was so disappointed! My husband had been here before and raved about the food so when we had out of town guests, we thought it would be nice to take them there. We were not impressed. Yes, the views of the falls are very nice but they were out of everything on the menu (our reservation was for 6:30 - not late, esp. for a Sat.). I had reviewed the menu ahead of time and really had my heart set on the short ribs but were told they were out as soon as we were seated. Then ordered a lobster roll but the waiter came back to tell me (about 15 min after I ordered) that it had an ingredient that I had told him I was allergic to. Ordered the Gnocchi and was told they just ran out of that too (2 of the 4 people in our group had already ordered that). I finally ordered the chicken which was served with a mess of dumplings - chicken as ok but everything else was horrible on the dish! The waiter was very nice but he didn't offer ANYTHING to help make this experience better. We drove over an hour to get here and it was not worth it at all!!!

  • Two Visits in One Week - What a Contrast

Went here for Restaurant Week and found it delightful. Service was top-notch, food was excellent, and the overall experience was great. We even went to the lounge afterward got a night cap, and thoroughly enjoyed the specialty drinks. I honestly couldn't wait to return and, on determining my first available weekend, made a reservation. Quite the disappointment. We arrived on time, but had to wait for our reserved table, so went to the lounge, which was pretty busy. Different bar staff, which apparently makes the difference, since the specialty drinks were completely unlike what we had ordered on our previous visit. When I brought them back to the bartender, he explained that it was "his" take on the cocktails. I think it was more like "I'm too busy to be bothered to do this right." This did not set the tone well for the evening. We kept checking on our table, and it was ready after 30 minutes. We were just settling in our seats when the waiter approached, informed us that there were no specials, and were we ready to order. We explained that we'd actually like a moment to review the menu first. He then did not return for 15 minutes. We ordered appetizers, salads, and dinner and proceeded to wait for 20 minutes, at which time our appetizers and salads arrived together. This was really unacceptable, particularly since our table did not accommodate all these plates at one time. The entrees were okay, although on the smallish side. Finally, we offered 1 coffee and 1 dessert. The coffee arrived promptly but there was no sign of dessert. After another 10 minutes with no sign of its arrival and no offer of a coffee refill, we flagged down our waiter to cancel the dessert and to bring us our check. Instead, 5 minutes later, the dessert arrived, with still no hope of a coffee refill. At this point, we were disgruntled and out of sorts. The dessert was certainly not worth the wait, and our whole visit there was a stunning 2-1/2 hours!

I live in Beacon and have had drinks on the patio before. My first dining experience was brunch for my Birthday. I really like the location on the waterfall and appreciate the modern decor. The lounge area is very cozy too. Overall I feel like they can do so much more. The food was meh...to ok. The waitstaff was confused and at multiple times sent the wrong item to the wrong table or to the wrong person. The menu items didn't offer much variety and were not very inspiring creatively. For a restaurant catering to Beacon and weekend NYC people there aren't any vegan/vegetarian options (I am not vegetarian) however I feel like in this day and age the options should be available. The one aspect I would give a good rating on are the drink specials. There were a number of , very creative drink options. At best the food and service is good but not great.

We tried the Roundhouse for the first time last Saturday night during Beacon's Restaurant Week. We both greatly enjoyed our meals (scallops/ cod) and our appetizers (octopus/ beets) as well as our dessert and wine choices. Everything was top-notch, creative and well-presented. Lovely place with great waterfall view. A special and memorable dining experience for those that seek something new and different.

This was our third visit to The Round House in the pass few months and I have to say it has been a great experience every visit. The atmosphere, location and view all wonderful. The service is equivalent to that of the CIA and just a wonderful experience. Our server was great and very patient with us as we tried to decipher the menu. My husband had the cheese cake with the Crown maple syrup which was to die for and the best syrup I've ever had. We plan on dining at the Round house on a routine basis. See you next month with friends.

Not knowing that the restaurant planned to participate in Hudson Valley Restaurant Week, we found an excellent, reasonably priced menu. We chose a cassoulet appetizer that came in a little iron pot that turned out to be a large and scrumptious portion. My husband ordered grilled octopus that was a bit salty. When his rib eye steak (yum) entree arrived it featured crispy kale which also had too much salt. We mentioned it to the waiter, and he brought out some that was seasoned just right. I liked my scallop dish interwoven with squash. We both enjoyed the Mounds chocolate dessert and apple pie. The view of the waterfall lit at night was a delight, and we loved the interior architecture including the bar. We'll be back.

Our party of 4 had an 8:15 reservation on a Saturday nite.It happened to be Restaurant week as well. Although we made a reservation for the main dining room in advance with open table we were seated in the less formal bar/lounge.This area has a limited menu normally & we were only offered the prix-fixe restaurant week menu. I wonder if this was the case for the main room? It was our first time dining here and we would have preferred to explore the menu more. We were limited to 4 choices for app/entree/dessert for $30. The restaurant also lost out on this note.We were celebrating a birthday and imagine we could have done more damage given more options. That all being said, upon entering we were greeted warmly and seated promptly. the service was solid. The food was very good and for this reason we will definitely try again on a less busy nite. We will refrain commenting on ambiance as we were seated in the midst of a vibrant bar scene.

The food at the Roundhouse was outstanding. The view was spectacular and the service was excellent. The Hudson Valley Restaurant Week menu had a nice variety of choices and at such a reasonable price (29.95 for appetizer, entree and dessert). Although the soup/appetizer/salad did not come with bread, when we asked for bread, they gave it to us at no extra charge. The wine sampler, which gave you a different glass of wine with each course, was a very reasonably priced at $15 total and it was a fantastic companion to our meal. We brought our children, 11 and 15 years old and they enjoyed the meal and the ambiance also.

It is rare when an experience is seamlessly exceptional from introduction to completion. This was one. Re-uniting with a friend, who had shared our lives for 38 years obliged an appropriate venue. The Roundhouse took the experience to the next level. When we requested the seating that gave us the best view of the falls, we were entertained in the lounge as we waited for our table. The lounge was both comfortable and bustling with an overall atmosphere of festivity. At our table, the view was worth the wait. The service was immediate, cordial, and effecient. The food topped off our experience.

Eclectic modern decor in a soaring former industrial space overlooking Beacon Falls lit blueish purple at night. You notice the view at first then how incredibly comfortable the simple, elegant dining room chairs are. Lingering over our meal required no conscience effort it was instead the consequence of a soothing ambiance. While the room was near full, the volume of our table conversation required no adjustment. The attractive, friendly, well trained staff did not hover nor did they rush. Though it was an abbreviated "Restaurant Week" menu this evening, the choices were still difficult as every dish begged your attention. All of quality sourced ingredients, well thought out achieving quite distinct flavors, perfectly executed. JUST GO!

After happening upon The Roundhouse while taking a day trip with our dog this summer, we couldn't wait for a fall brunch to take in the spectacular view and experience the outstanding menu.Upon arriving for our 1:30 reservation, the restaurant was busy yet ready to seat us. I spotted a table overlooking the falls and while not seated there, asked if we could perhaps move tables. I was informed a party of 5 had reserved the table but shortly after our beverages arrived, a party of 2 was seated there. I brought it to the attention of the hostess to no avail. Regardless, our meal was absolutely delicious and the service, impeccable. While our view was somewhat obstructed, I highly recommend this romantic, delicious hidden gem.

We have been to Swift's several times since it has opened and are always pleased with the food. In fact, it gets better. There are tables overlooking the Fishkill Creek and waterfall which is special but unfortunately, they were unable to give us one despite our requests for a table by the windows. We would still return and during Hudson Valley Restaurant Week, it is a great value.

I'm always looking for someplace new to have a nice dinner with my husband. We went here for our anniversary dinner and we were both blown away by the entire experience. Walking from our car over the bridge with the falls looked stunning with the lights facing the water. Walk into the restaurant and are immediately welcomed by smiling faces ready to help you. Service was immediate, food was outstanding, extensive wine list and a personal touch to our desert with Happy Anniversary written in chocolate next to my cheesecake. Told many people over the weekend (I work in the food industry) that they MUST go to The Roundhouse. Enjoy; it's worth it!

Must have visited at just the right time. Had dinner there on a Friday at 5:30 P.M. My wife and I were among only a few patrons in the restaurant. Service was fast and friendly, the food was excellent, with unmistakable CIA influence. Went home later and read all of the poor reviews from other customers, and thought that might be why our visit was so quiet, especially on a Friday evening. Our experience was great, I guess because there were so few other diners to distract the staff. You guys proved you can do the job... now to make it work on a busy night! All the best, HVA

I made reservations for my husbands birthday. I asked to have a table with a great view of the falls. Not only did we have the perfect table but there was no one else in the restaurant. So it was as if we had the whole restaurant to ourselves. Our waiter was very attentive and nice. I asked a lot of questions and was very indecisive but he still smiled and was patient with me. When I couldn't decide what to order, he made GREAT suggestions. Near the end of our dinner, he brought out a dessert with a cooking and a candle and wished my husband a happy birthday. I didn't request that he do that! It made the dinner perfect! Would definitely go back and I would definitely send friends!

I've eaten at this venue several times before, for lunch. the ambience is lovely, the service is impressive. however, on this occasion for dinner it was a little disappointing. the wine menu had changed and the selection did not offer me the previous specific wine I'd had before and enjoyed very much...ok, in and of itself, no issue as that's standard for most restaurants....the bread offering with its wonderful soft pad of delicious butter and herbed salt crystals was perfect...my dining partner and I had selected a group of appetizers as our meal, and while beautifully presented, we both found them abit lacking in spices and somewhat bland. overall, I would totally recommend this restaurant and hope that this was just an off night.

Great location, upscale setting, beautiful dining area. Food was okay but should have been much better to match the setting. Service was slow but it was quite crowded, but drinks should not take twenty minutes nor food forty five. But the views from our window seats where amazing. I think I prefer the outside cafe.

The bar and staff were excellent and the cocktails spectacular. The bartenders knew a great deal about drinks and were happy to share. The steak was grizzly in places and came out cold. The skate was very good. We returned back to the bar which had been invaded by about 30 people from a wedding and the noise level was intolerable. I think that it had something to do with the design of the bar, but we left because we ended up not being able to hear each other and were unable to get to the bar even if we had wanted to stay. I would try the bar again as it was great, but would not eat there again

We took a chance, though the reviews were good, and were pleasantly surprised. Very chic, industrial modern interior with the restaurant sitting right next to a small waterfall. Food was delicious and ther service appropriate for a restaurant of its quality.

Food and service were excellent. At first I thought portions were a bit small but they turned out to be just right. Leave room for desert! Also note our server went back to the kitchen to get us the ingredients for a sauce we loved. WE WILL BE BACK!
