  • "Loved the service and atmosphere. Neiman Marcus trademark dishes did not disappoint. We'll be back again soon!"

  • "I ordered the Asian Chicken Salad. There was very little chicken, it was plain, boring and overpriced. The atmosphere of the Rotunda is lovely, especially if you get a window seat, but that is the main draw. Do not go here for the food."

  • "We try the afternoon tea was very good but the pries was high 75 for 2"

  • "A great way to gear up for a matinee. Elegant dining in superb surroundings. Very good food, and a very attentive staff."

  • "The place was beautiful, the view was fantastic. The food was poor. My little sandwiches had hard bread edges. It was obvious that these were not freshly made. And they were not tasty. The tray looked nice at first glance, but at a close look, the sandwiches are not uniformly made, just slapped on together, no attention to detail. Tea time is all about the experience and taking time off to relax and talk with friends and enjoy tea and cute little favors. The Rotunda tea time food quality is poor at best. I guess you are paying for the ambience and the view of Union Square. Too bad because I love going to tea time and this a really nice spot, but I would never go back and would never recommend the Rotunda for tea time."

  • "always a great ladies lunch spot, however, I was served the wrong entrée and then no one apologized! My friend waited with her entrée until mine arrived. It was delicious but again, no one was too apologetic!"

  • "We were greeted warmly and tried their best to get us the best seats we requested. The servers are very attentive to our needs. The bread they served was just great. A soft brioche, warm, buttery and puffy inside. Heavenly! Top it with their special strawberry flavored butter. Good selection of fine tea. Not the usual variety and blend. Had the Summer Thyme Lemonita. very refreshing. I had the Black Cod which was very favorful in a simple broth of fish, mushroom and bokchoy. Excellent fusion. The sandwiches were also tasty and the signature salad was ok but presented with such class. Very good experience. Pricey but as they get , you get what you pay for. Dollar well spent, remarkable experience and definitely must come back."

  • "As always Outstanding Food / Service Ambience and Great Energy. Plus the views are incredible. My out of town guests were very very appreciative of our time there. However, I thought having to wait an extra 1/2 from our reservation time was a little disappointing. I hope this will be corrected for my next reservation in mid-April, when I will be bring my mom; my cousin and her daughter."

  • "Amazing popovers!! We are from southern California and came to SF to celebrate our daughter's Sweet Sixteen. A great venue!"

  • "The atmosphere is great-what a beautiful location! However, the prices were way too high. I ended up paying over $80 for a glass of wine and two sandwiches... I would not go back. There are too many other wonderful SF locations with more reasonable prices."

  • "It was just perfect! It's not only beautiful, with glass "City of Paris" dome and Union Square view, but the wait staff were all wonderful, friendly, helpful. We felt so comfortable. It was such a pleasure to be treated like we were welcomed guests in a friends home. Lots of smiles. The food was also excellent with an "amuse", pop-overs and main entree. It was a wonderful "experience". We will be back!"

  • "Reservation recommended. Afternoon tea, it starts at 2:30pm. If you'd like to sit near the window overlooking Union Square, you should mention that at the time of reservation. We liked complementary consommé and a cheese puff, as well as a pop-over that came with lunch. I ordered grilled asparagus open sandwich and it was delicious! Service was good, except we can tell that they preferred us to go sooner rather than taking our time (we took our time anyways :p)."

  • "afternoon tea starts at 2:30 and we were about an hour early for it but had some things from the main menu and they were delicious. our server remembered our request for staying for afternoon tea and was on top of everything. she even suggested more sweets than savory since we already had something from the main menu. it was awesome food and service."

  • "Have had the pleasure of eating at The Rotunda many times and love it every time I am there. I have only gone for lunch, but I can't imagine it being any less perfect for brunch etc. The people who work there are lovely, the menu selection allows for any kind of eater, taste buds and dietary restrictions. The Rotunda is bright and airy and althought you are at Neiman's it is not stuffy or too formal. The popovers they serve as you are seated are literally to die for! Had the grilled shrimp salad this last time and the Asian chicken salad the time before that. We shared the cheese tray (amazing with honey comb and quince and marcona almonds!)."

  • "Yes there are many other new restaurants but I really love the consistency of a great lunch at Rotunda when I'm up in SF for meetings or shopping. Get a reservation well in advance and you won't be sorry."

  • "We went for Lunch on a Sunday afternoon. Long line, but we had reservations and were seated immediately. Excellent service. Wonderful popover and about the best cocktail I have ever had. (Rum punch martini with blood oranges?) We each had a bowl of Lobster bisque and split the crab and shrimp salad. I would return and order the same thing again it was so good. Excellent espresso. We will return when shopping in Nob Hill."

  • "We book this event online a month ago. Requested a window seat, there were 5 empty window tables available at the check in time. The host was unaccountable, can not even accommodate the guest, with the emotionless face, this young man said no. We also saw a couple complaint the same situation and got their window table. Later, the lady manager came over and apologized for the unpleasant experience. NM should hire a more friendly, experience customer service with great personality. Food and ambiance were great but would be exceptional if the host treat us better."

  • "We have enjoyed high tea and lunch. Good food, sometimes service can be a little absent minded. Overall a fun place to grab a bite and a drink, relax & people watch."

  • "Absolutely delightful! A friend and I spent a wonderful relaxing afternoon sipping tea and people watching. We went with the selection that included a glass of Shramsberg. The warm popover with strawberry butter was a nice treat that all guests are given, it was perfect with the bubbly. The sweet and savory pastries were presented and explained along with our tea. Service was outstanding, our tea pots and water glasses refilled without ever having to ask. We were checked upon quite regularly as well by the most friendy waitstaff. Our experience was truly pleasureable."

  • "Each and every time we have tea in the Rotunda we have requested a window seat. Each time we arrive we are seated exactly where we requested! My son brought his girlfriend there for her 21st birthday and they even brought her a special cookie with a candle on it. This is the best place to celebrate a quiet, intimate, scenic meal! Thank you!"

  • "The best things going for this restaurant is its location, view of Union Square, and eating their pop-overs! Although other reviewers have given this restaurant rave reviews, I just don't get it - it's not all that!"

  • "Table was not ready when we arrived for our specified time on the reservation, but the staff accommodated and gave us a perfect window table as requested. Great menu, can find something easily. Salads are very good as are the entrees. Coffee is very good too. Nice place for lunch with view of Union Square. Nice natural lighting. Quiet, can easily have a conversation. Nice place to have a lunch meeting or just to meet a friend. Great place for tourists or locals."

  • "Posh little spot for high tea or lunch with some society ladies, if you know what I mean. After we sat down, we were given complimentary appetizers, which made us feel appreciated! It's a good place to catch up with a friend because you can really talk and the service is good."

  • "There was a very long wait, but luckily we had a reservation, which was easy to make on Open Table =) The hostesses were very friendly and accommodated our preferences. The server was nice, food was pretty good. The lovely bread was a little under cooked inside and we are not fans of the strawberry butter. It was a little loud for my taste, but otherwise it was a pleasant lunch before heading out to the shops."

  • "I requested a seat with a great view but we were seated next to a pole with a limited view, despite other options being available. We had a 1:45 p.m. appt. No prior information was given letting us know that tea service could not begin until later in the afternoon. As we attempted to sort out whether or not we would stay for lunch plus tea with a member of staff, the Manager cut across our conversation without asking for an excuse and handed the staff member menus to seat someone else. The Rotunda is so beautiful. Offer a higher quality of tea, with nice Porcelain or China ware. Improve the quality of sweets that are offered with the tea to something that reflects the best available in San Francisco."

  • "I have had lunch here several times, service and ambience are always nice. I specifically picked Rotunda because it was my friend's birthday and I made note of that in our Reservation, not only was it his birthday, it was mine and we were both celebrating. We were not even wished a happy birthday. AND there was a birthday gift bag which should have been a big hint that we were there to celebrate something. Most servers would at least acknowledge and double check on the reservation if there was any special note about a birthday (if they saw a birthday bag). I expected more. Really disappointing as I wanted my guest to know that I took him there to celebrate."
