  • "Wonderful experience & amazing food!! Fresh and delicious and very well priced."

  • "4 of us ordered completely different meals and everyone loved it. "

  • "I was pleasantly surprised that the food was not standard pub fare. I had read some complaints about the price of the food, particularly the burger, but in my opinion, the food was gourmet quality and therefore, deserving of the price. The truffle fries were really good. I thought the place had a bit of a stuffy older hipster vibe that turned me off a bit and the menu contained many obscure culinary words which made it unaccessible. I asked the server to explain the soup to me, but rather than doing so, he simply brought me a sample to taste. I really liked the soup and asked for a cup but never received it. I didn't ask again and wasn't charged, but would have enjoyed it had it been served."

  • "Good value for money dining and wonderful ambience. Less choices in food and appetizers. Menu should have more cocktail choices. In either case, liked it so i would come more. "

  • "We used to go there quite a bit in the late 80's and early'90s. Then there were so many changes in management, menu, etc., we stopped. Since it's about 20 minutes from home, it really does need to be a destination. Friday, hearing it had changed, yet again, we decided to have lunch at The Rookwood. It was well worth the trip. The food was very good and the service was attentive. Best of all, the old ambience was back."

  • "Came here based on recommendation, and we're glad we stopped. Cool vibe, great background music, eclectic menu. However, went with the burgers and they were outstanding. Homemade tonic was nice addition to cocktail."

  • "Food was not to our taste. Had many questions about what the ingredients were. Not filling at all. Too expensive for what it was."

  • "massive pottery kilns glowed with happy diners enjoying excellent creative food, served with warmth and care. we thoroughly enjoyed the recommendations provided by our server and the outstanding appetizer, small and large plates we chose. definitely we will return on another visit to cincinnati."

  • "The food was great! I've been here once before and had always wanted to go back. My only disappointment was the service. We placed a reservation, so we didn't have to wait to be seated at all, but then it took 15 minutes for a waitress to even give us water, then another 15 minutes before someone came and took our drink order/food order. However, the food came out pretty quickly after that, and everything tasted delicious, so all in all, a decent experience. Would probably still come back."

  • "We've driven past this place for years, but never took the time to stop. Thanks to a last minute dinner invite, I relied on Open Table to help me find a reservation on a Saturday night. I picked The Rookwood. From the incredible views, to the amazing outdoor fireplace, the kiln seating area, to the friendly staff; we were impressed! And the food? AWESOME!"

  • "Staff friendly and attentive from the moment we entered the door. Pleasant, friendly waitress. Nice wine list. Beet salad and salmon were notably good, good enough in fact to consider a return trip soon."

  • "I came with my girlfriend and we had an excellent time. The server was very friendly and courteous. We both loved the very hip/romantic feel of the restaurant. We both weren't huge fans of the food, but that's only because we tried new things we'd never had before."

  • "My wife and I went there last Tuesday (1 April) to celebrate our 25th anniversary so expectations were high. Great service, great atmosphere, very bad steak. I was really looking forward to a good steak so I ordered the T-bone steak, the highest priced food item on the menu. I was very dissappointed with the steak, it was 1/3 grissle and thick fat and undercooked. I had to trim off a very large portion of the steak just to get a decent mouthful of meat. I was little upset since I chose the Rookwood to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. Expectations were NOT met. Hope you read this because the potential for the Rookwood is phenomenal- Hank"

  • "I haven't been to Rookwood for years, due to a move to the northern suburbs, but we had tickets to Playhouse in the Park on a Sunday afternoon. After perusing the local eateries, I decided The Rookwood Bar and Restaurant would be a good spot to meet and get a bite to eat before the main event. The service was great (thanks to Sally) and the food was amazing! It was so good that we took pictures and posted them on FB so that our husbands would know what they were missing. Brunch suddenly became the main event ... although the play was very nice too!"

  • "Knowing the Rookwood from the past - burgers, etc., we were pleasantly surprised when we found the menu upgraded and some great entrees featured. The salads were outstanding - my mussels were well prepared as was the salmon. Great service - overall pleased and will go back."

  • "The overall dining location was wonderful! In the heart of Mt. Adams. Our view was stunning, seated next to the window overlooking the city,a prefect date night location! MERGUEZ MEATBALLS - The meatballs were a bit flavor-less, although clearly mixed with several ingredients. The red sauce was ok. I personally would not order this option again. LOCALLY MILLED CREAMY GRITS - If you are a grit fan... it's a MUST. Be sure to get all ingredients in every bite or it's not the same. PRIME BOOMER BURGER With Truffle Fries - The warm rich buttery bun paired with mushrooms and blue cheese is A-MAZ-ING. Accompanied with perfectly seasoned truffle fries is hands down best thing on the menu. I would over again.. and again."

  • "My wife and I had been to the Rookwood on a number of occasions. Bottom line, if you'd like to go, 1. go for lunch and 2. get a burger. After having gone in December (it was quiet, service excellent, food good) we decided to go again in March. I ordered the same dish I'd had in December to find that it had changed; the herb/spice/garnish mix was different and much more pervasive. I don't know if it was seasonal but that word wasn't indicated on the menu. My wife also ordered a dish she'd had before but this time she asked for it to be prepared without chorizo in order to cut down on the garlic, so what was in the sauce? Large pieces of garlic. Disappointed. Make it the same way for us folks who like to find a "favorite" dish!"

  • "The Rookwood Bar and Restaurant is a great place for a nice, weekend dinner. The atmosphere and ambiance will make your night even more enjoyable and remember able. I would suggest a time after the sun sets because the restaurant overlooks the downtown Cincinnati skyline and it is beautiful at night."

  • "I have enjoyed the Rookwood experience for several years now. I made it my Sunday lunch spot for years. A fantastic place to dine. comfortable warm place to dine. I love the water bottles as well. the menu is always fun and interesting items you would not find at other places. The deviled eggs and dirty olives are very good for the taste buds. Everything I have had has been wonderful which makes me want to try more. My fav is the Eggs benedict on sunday."

  • "Thanks to Rookwood, it has both an eclectic and American Bar food menu which met the wishes of our party. The food was good, nothing special. The service and the history of Rookwood draws us back"

  • "Rather odd menu, I thought. But the historic charm sold us,"

  • "The new menu at Rookwood is fantastic. Our party of 6 shared hanky pankys, speck wrapped dates, deviled eggs, bruschetta, chili, beet salad, root down salad, mac-n-cheese, duck fat potatoes, cauliflower and spaghetti squash and grits. Everything was delicious. The food came out quickly. The server was attentive and well versed on the menu and drinks. Always liked the atmosphere at Rookwood and now there is food to match. Thanks for a great birthday dinner!"

  • "Our food at the Rookwood was excellent, and we especially enjoyed the smaller (portion) selections on the menu. The best part to us was the historic scene--original kilns from the original Rookwood pottery. We will recommend this restaurant to friends, and we are already planning to go back for another excellent meal. The waiter was helpful in describing the food, some of which was new to us."

  • "The chef was on Fox 19 news. We had guests from out of town. Thought Rookwood, would be a delightful choice. As the Rookwood's rich history is another gem in the crown of our Queen City. However, the food was deplorable. The poached eggs with "hollandaise sauce." Ha, more like melted Velveeta cheese dumped over eggs, spinach and soggy muffins. One in our party ordered the Donut french toast with pork belly. He never got the pork belly. By the time server checked back with us we were ready for the check. Server asked if he'd like a side of pork belly, "no, thank you just the check.""

  • "I love the charm of Rookwood with its history, the brick walls, curved walls etc. However, the table where my girlfriend and I sat was dirty and our waitress appeared unkept and like she had just rolled out of paper. If I am going to pay $28 for a dinner plate I expect a little more from the restaurant and the staff. While the food was tasty it was over priced for the overall experience. It did not wow me enough to pay that price at some other cleaner establishment let alone one where you felt dirty. I will not be back."

  • "It was our first time visiting this restaurant. I found it on a Google search of the area and was happy to see that they were actually open for brunch on a Sunday (many places in the Cincy area were not). The restaurant itself is quite impressive inside, and the food was delicious! Our food wasn't brought out to us all at once, which was a bit annoying since we were in a group, but it was worth the wait. Not a place to go when you are wanting to eat fast. Highly recommend the truffle fries and the Croque Madame!"

  • "We tried the Rookwood before going to the Playhouse in the Park. We were seated immediately and the waitperson was very responsive. My wife had a burger and I had the hot pastrami sandwich. Both were delicious. They had a nice selection of beers, and I enjoyed a Mt Carmel Winter brew. For dessert, we had the bread pudding and the gelato sample. Recommendation- get the Rose Hips flavor --it is absolutely a unique taste. Overall, a nice place with historical ambience. The only downside was that the table was a little sticky."

  • "I've been here more times than I can count. And each time has been perfection in every way possible. If you don't mind trying new things or experimenting with food combinations, this place is for you. Their food choices are wonderfully creative and tastefully surprising! The atmosphere is casually elegant, and so comfortable. The alcohol selection is large and definitely worth exploring. And I've never had bad service. They definitely won't rush you. Hands down, my favorite place ever."

  • "The service was great (we got there before evening opening, but they let us into the bar and served us drinks before the staff was ready). The food was great: I had the pasta dish w/ pork bellies; my wife had the chicken turrine dish; both were very tasty. The atmosphere as usual was warm, friendly."

  • "I dined here under different ownership in the late 70's or early 80's. I always enjoyed it then but find the service much better and friendlier now. Our server was so nice. I wish I could rember her name. She said the bourbon bodino was to die for so we got it. and loved it. It was refreshing to see an unusual menu and our dinner of cauliflower and brusselsprouts tasted wonderful. The burgers were great, too. We'll be back."

  • "This was my first visit to Rookwood Bar & Restaurant. Since it was in Mt Adams, I was expecting a scenic view. Although there was a spectacular view from the parking lot, the restaurant itself is the converted pottery plant, and scenic view was not part of the plan. If you know Rookwood's history, it's cool to look at the kilns within the restaurant, with table available for small groups or families to dine in semi-privacy. The food was pub grub, garnished with salty frites."

  • "This was our 2nd time @ The Rookwood & it seems to have made a few changes - Menu - which were all very appealing. Great dinner out for us and some family members. Will be back & have already recommended the restaurant & bar for a great night out. Service was great and very knowledgeable of food & drink information."

  • "I chose this place to take out of town guests because it is exclusive to Cincinnati, relaxing atmosphere, and good food. I like taking out-of-towners to places around Cincinnati they cannot go to in other cities. I requested to sit in one of the kilns to give our guests the ultimate unique dining experience. One person in our party is a meat and potatoes domestic beer kind of guy, and was a bit overwhelmed by the menu and all of the specialty beers. He ended up getting a burger and one of the beers recommended by our server and was quite happy with his meal. Everyone was very impressed by the place and loved their dining experience. Great time had by all!"

  • "My only complaints are they changed their fries supplier, they way over cooked the fries, and they never brought one of the appetizers we ordered."
