  • Fun night out with the girls.

Fun night out with the girls. Food and white wine were good. We all agreed Sangria was lacking...there was no fruit in it either!! Our waitress didn't smile all night and rarely checked in on us, so that was disappointing. Otherwise, we would still return, its a cute spot.

Stumbled across this great little restaurant as we needed a place close to a bar we were heading to later to hear a band. Had never heard of it but it was great. They had a live jazz band which was great. Service was perfect as was the food. I don't live in the area, but will recommend it to family and friend's who do live in RI!

I have not been able to have RI calimari for years due to celiac disease. When I saw that they do them with corn meal I was very excited. They normally use a little flour mixed in but the chef was able to do them with only cornmeal for me and they were EXCELLENT! i have been back twice just for calimari. Our waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable about gluten free needs and the rest of our meal was also excellent..

The restaurant is an excellent place for dining and music. The Jazz band was lively but not not so loud as to drown dinner conversation. The ambiance was friendly and comfortable. The special - surf and turf - was extremely well prepared. So was the grilled chicken entree. The service was well-timed and friendly. We will definitely go back.

We found this restaurant by looking on the list of recommended establishments on the Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC) website. Was a five minute walk to the PPAC from the Roi. Food was very good, we were there early so there was no crowd. Server was friendly and professional. Roi was also featured on TV Diner. Overall very pleased and would return as well as recommend. Try the Italian Sausage Rigatoni and the Maryland Crab Cakes......spicy but Yum!

Came from Ma. and attended a show that evening at the Performing Arts Center....found the ROI listed on-line as near the theater and decided to give it a try. It's on a quiet street and at first I was wondering if I made the right choice. The street was a bit dark and seemed out of the way. But....we were greeted by a very friendly host....the service was great...and the food wonderful! From the calamari, to the pizza, filet mignon special to my chicken dish...we loved it all. Wished we had room for dessert! I have already recommended The ROI to a co-worker who lives in RI.

ROI is a great place to enjoy ambiance , delicious appetizers and food and some outstanding jazz (Great Band and singer Satrurday Night 2/2). The Chicken Parm ,Fillet and Losbster Ravioli was perfect, tender and overgenerous portions provide plenty to take home. The waiter was overwhelmed with the influx of new arrivals and admitted ROI was short staffed but the atmosphere and food was quick to come and made up for the slow bar service. Service from the Bar was slow but the Martini's were great. Our party of 6 will be back with a party of 10 . Pete Fontaine

Very impressed with first time at the Roi. The jazz was a nice touch, not too loud to be distrcting to conversation but just right to be nice ambiance. The general manager was very present and attentive. He seemed to be host but sure was around and making sure things were okay. My dish was excellent, meatloaf, and the nachos were good too. Not a huge mound of chips with nothing underneath but a nice order. We would go back. Cocktails were a nicer list than excecuted, I had two different ones, they were more than drinkable though.

I was at the Roi on 1-19-2013 to see a friend's jazz Quartet and have a nice dinner. Except that the waitress' timing was somewhat off (we had to wait a good 15 minutes before she even came to greet us), the food was phenomenal! The bottle of wine we chose was perfect. The ambiance allowed us to enjoy the food and drink, music and friends without any problems. The band was so good that we stayed till the end. A great night out!

We had a reservation for 7 and our table was not ready until 7:30! We had 4 kids with us and were told the jazz would start at 8:30 but it started at 8 and our table was right in front of the stage so it was way too loud for them. The waitress seemed frustrated whenever we asked for something but the food was wonderful and this would be a great place for us to go to by ourselves. Definitely an older crowd, though.

I hate to say I was dissapointed. I am a vegetarian and choice are limited, so I went for the usual standby. I ordered the veggie burger. It looked good - homemade but not sure it was home made. However it was so mushy it was inedible. I took one bite - tried a second and left it. There was no "burger" consistency - more like eating mashed potatoes between a bun. Parking is a problem if you are going early, before employees empty out parking spaces at the end of the day. Wait staff was friendly. Overall for a first time - not happy but I will give it a second try.

Went to Roi with a party of 6 and had great service and great food. The space is beautiful and the live jazz adds a really nice touch. Admittedly it became a bit loud at times, but we had a fun group and it was the perfect atmosphere for our bday celebration. Two of us ordered steaks and the cuts were delicious and they were cooked flawlessly. Every pasta dish at the table was fantastic! Highly recommend this place.

The food and service were excellent. Yet I cant really speak for the ambiance/ personality of the place. There was no one else in the restaurant at the time, maybe 1 or 2 other parties throughout my dinner. It was a wednesday night at 6:30, but I at least expected an after work crowd, music, etc. to provide some sort of pizzaz or energy to the place. There was nothing. However, it may be a late night place instead, in that case, it may be great.

I can't say enough about the ROI. My husband and I have eaten there 4 times over the past month or so both as a couple and as part of a group. The food is consistently outstanding from the polenta fries to the surf & turf. The Pear Tree Martini is one of the best drinks I've ever tasted and well worth the specialty drink price. Pricing, in general, is reasonable, though. It's a perfect place for a special dinner or soup and salad (ROI salad & lobster bisque is a great combination) or sandwich before a show. The staff is very attentive and professional. They never rush you, so you can linger with dessert and coffee or an after-dinner drink and enjoy the live jazz. The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable but with a very cool vibe.

There were 13 of us this past New Year's Eve. We were looking for a spot that could accommodate the size of the group AND provide a quality meal, with maybe a few tasty beverages. The ROI provided both, and service by Alonzo was very good. In his defense, we had a 6:45 reservation (early, so we could make our next commitment), and reservations poured in heavily for the duration of our visit. So I would say exceptional, given the high volume scenario on New Year's Eve. Scallops were amazing! And I was told (repeatedly) that the lobster ravioli were the same!! We will be back and an easy recommendation!
