Diner Reviews
  • "We had such a fantastic dinner in celebration of our 50th wedding anniversary. There were some great surprises too--including complementary champagne to begin, "comped" desserts (outstanding souffles), and a personalized after-dessert plate of goodies. The wait staff was excellent, our main courses were amazing and perfectly prepared, and we felt very special and pampered! Will be back again."

  • "Ambiance, service and food were superb except for the dessert. Signature dessert - chocolate souffle - was virtually tasteless. The couple at adjacent table told us that, in the past, they and others have had the same criticism of the souffle and informed the serving staff. Yet, the souffle remains on the menu and the serving staff praises it highly."

  • "Not a single disappointing minute. The pappardelle pasta is a dish made of dreams."

  • "We did the tasting menu, but chose our desserts. Each dish was unique, very fresh ingredients with beautiful presentation. Soufflés were amazing!"

  • "I had the four course dining experience with wine parings. Every single dish was wonderful. The plates were beautifully prepared. I had been told that this is the best place to dine on Amelia Island so my expectations were high and I was not disappointed. This evening will rate in the top 5 dining experiences that I have had in my life."

  • "My wife and I decided on the Chef's Adventure Menu, a 4-course, blind tasting menu, with the wine pairings, and didn't regret a thing. The wine pours were quite generous, starting with a full flute of champagne, and each dish was exceptionally done. I expected more varieties of salts, but the three provided were delicious and fun to try. My wife's convinced they could read her mind (or bugged our table) to know what she was hoping for, especially the soufflés for dessert."

  • "Salt at The Ritz-Carlton was AMAZING! The food was great, the service was like no other and the place itself is just beautiful!! this is a must have place if around town. I can't wait to go back1"

  • "Salt is a wonderful place to have a dining experience. The chef sent out a chilled cauliflower soup that was wonderful with the salt and bread. My husband had tuna tartare with small chunks of melon which made it a great summer dish. My pasta with seafood in a mushroom cream sauce was one of the best I have ever had. The pairing of the salt to compliment the dish was explained with each dish. I will definitely be back if we are ever in the area."

  • "We have been to this restaurant numerous times and always consider it a special occasion. . The bread was not delivered for another 15 minutes. We then waited another 45 minutes for our entrees with only one visit from our waitress to advise us that they were on their way. I had ordered a dessert soufflé in advance while my husband had not. We again waited more than a half hour with no dessert and no one cared to ask my husband if he wanted to order a dessert. After telling them we would not wait any longer, the manager tossed my dessert on the table and walked away when we said we were tired of waiting and we're ready to leave. They did remove our entrees from the bill but no one spoke to us."

  • "We had a fantastic dinner while staying for a few days at the Ritz. The ocean views are unforgettable, service is knowledgeable and professional, and the food (and accompanying salt choices) is both thoughtful and delicious. We'll be back!"

  • "We were frequent guests years ago and we hugely surprised by the casual atmosphere and mediocre service we experienced this time. Our table ordered the tasting menu which should of made the service easy but unfortunately the timing was not 5 diamond as the Salt is rated but rather more like a 3. Our courses came to quickly and the paired wines were brought well afterwards. Everyone was friendly but seemed hurried and unfocused. The food was good but more like a very nice restaurant we would eat at for any evening out. There will be no hurry for us to return. "

  • "Third time is charm!.....as was the first and second. One of our favorites on the island. We opted for the chef's choice with wine pairings to celebrate our 25th anniversary and we were not disappointed. Too bad we are moving to San Diego, we would come here again and again."

  • "This restaurant is incredible! The food is not only delicious, but the presentation was perfect. The Foie gras app should have been kept in an art museum. The service was also top notch. I can't wait to come back."

  • "We had the beef tenderloin and Maine Lobster. David was our server. The pairings of the salts with each type of food were amazing! The wines were perfect, and our soufflés at the end were amazing. Plus we had just gotten Engaged early in the day so David made it extra special. We will be coming back. "

  • "The chef's culinary creativity goes far beyond brilliant! The combination of flavors and textures were well balanced. The artistry in presentation was almost too beautiful to eat. Of the 8 dishes that we ordered, each one was our favorite until we sampled the next dish. The wait staff could not do enough for us. They far exceeded excellent service. "

  • "My wife and I dined with you last Friday, we were both looking forward to a wonderful evening, only to end up disappointed. The wait service was only fair because they were also waiting on a very loud group of 20 people next to us. My wife ordered fish and enjoyed it. I ordered the rib-eye steak and what a dissappointment that was. The steak was a bad cut of meat that was over-cooked and over 50 percent of it was fat and gristle that was inedible. When I pay $200 for a dinner I expect to have a better experience. What a diappointing evening!!!"

  • "After a slight hiccup on our last visit, Salt got its groove back. Superb tasting menu, executed suberbly, with wonderful, quiet service in a club-like atmosphere. This was our 74th visit (over 15 years) and Salt continues to deliver exceptional food and service, consistent with the Ritz brand and in line with big city (NYC, Chicago, etc) name brand competitors."

  • "SALT is definitely worthy of its 5 Diamond rating; in fact in Europe it would easily achieve a Michelin two or 3 star rating. Tthe food, service, wine, and scenery were all exquisite. The atmosphere was phenomenal."

  • "My wife and I recently had a special occasion (34th wedding anniversary) dinner at Salt. It was wonderful by all measures. I asked in advance for a really nice table, and we were seated at a window directly overlooking the ocean. After being seated, the food was terrific, our server was great, and the cocktails were really good. We were not rushed and were able to completely enjoy the experience. The restaurant defintely meets expectations for a five-star restaurant. and is a wonderful venue for a special occasion or a romantic dinner. We will return and will recommend Salt to our friends."

  • "Food was good, but I was expecting more. My husband got the Wagyu rib eye and it was outstanding. I got the seafood pasta and it was mediocre. Very little seafood, lots of mushrooms, sauce and pasta for $46. Should have been around $18 for what it was. We got the shrimp appetizer. Unimpressive. You taste the grits, goat cheese, and breading, but they overpower the shrimp. Restaurant was very loud and had lots of kids, so hard to say it is romantic. Service is great when you start off, but quickly dwindles over time. Hard to find your waiter if you need anything. Kitchen staff brought out food only to discover we were out of wine and no one could find the waiter."

  • "The restaurant is housed in the Ritz Carlton on the southern side of Amelia Island. Upon pulling up to the front of the hotel we were greeted immediately by the valet and directed to the restaurant on the backside of the hotel. Once we reached the restaurant, we were a little early for our reservation but was able to be seated before the actual reservation time. We decided on the chef's menu where it included 4 courses and they were determined by the chef. The menu was amazing and we were so glad we decided to select that option. From the first dish to the last, we had a very memorable experience and would highly, HIGHLY recommend this restaurant to anyone."

  • "Perfectly good meal. But def not 'best meal of my life' as indicated by others. Service was slow and clumsy. (Our reservation was not until 830 pm and the dining room was only fairly busy). The halibut was nice. The soufflé was (dark chic) was pretty amazing and a hit even with the non dessert diner at our table. However, candidly, for the dollars. I've eaten in much better places with a less 'corporate' vibe. But an all around good experience. We just expected amazing based on all of the reviews and referrals from friends."

  • "Not only was the food AMAZING (please try the prawn appetizer - it's to die for), but the service was PERFECT. Even though we sat at the bar, our server Marci was MORE than attentive. She made excellent food recommendations as well as wine pairings and I was never confused as to what I was eating. She's an asset to your company and she was able to perfectly balance her busy bar area while still making us feel special and we were never left searching for her."

  • "We were dining with our teenage dauggter and her friend. Myself and my husband had the Chef's adventure tasting menu. Every dish was fantastic. My daughter is a picky eater, they sccomodated her special requests and she has not stopped raving about her meal. Everyone had a great time. The service was attentive, but not overly intrusive. I highly reccommend!"

  • "Dining at Salt is always a memorable experience for us. Of course it holds a special place in our heart, as we were married at the Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island, but the dining experience is unsurpassed. We have been to countless upscale restaurants, and this is by far our favorite. The service is impeccable, presentation beautiful, and food delicious. For what you get, the prices are reasonable. Definitely a meal to remember. Thank you Salt, for another extraordinary evening!"

  • "We splurged and sat at the Chef's table which is situated in a private room in the kitchen. There is a large glass window that allows you to overlook the Chefs' stations. This is a prix fixe tasting menu with a wine pairing option. The portions are generous, so pace yourself. This memorable experience not only allowed us to watch the Chefs while they cooked but to walk around between courses and talk with them as well. The kitchen staff was friendly and happy to answer all our questions. Most of the courses were delivered by either the Chef who prepared them( or a sous Chef) along with a description of the course. Every course was delicious! David, our waiter, was knowledgeable and very helpful."

  • "Server asked us to consider ordering souffle when we ordered our meals since it takes some time, so after asking him some questions about the choices, we did order the Gran Marnier souffle. After the meal, he asked us if we wanted dessert and acted like he "misunderstood" us when we told him we had already ordered the souffle. Obviously, he forgot to put in the order and tried to chalk it up to a misunderstanding. It was late and we were tired, so we didn't want to wait another 30 minutes for dessert. He was not very apologetic about it and didn't offer to make it up to us in another way with a different dessert. It was a rather disappointing end to an otherwise good meal."
